Nah… because what do you mean the racist, homophobic, sexist, MONSTER got a happy ending and the depressed, lonely, sweetheart who changed, made amends, and became a better person didn’t…
Make it make sense 911…
Ngl this is exactly why I’m having such a hard time with it, and why I can’t bring myself to watch the show right now.
Because I already thought having Ortiz, a woman of color, facing consequences while Gerard, a white straight man, walked away and had a happy ending, is a choice. A bad one at that. Did Ortiz deserve to face the consequences of her actions? Sure. Did Gerard? Yes! And yet only one of them did.
And to have Tommy, a gay man who did wrongs in his past but who has done the work to better himself. A man who has expressed time and time again how jealous he is of the 118 being a family. And it’s not hard to see he doesn’t have one himself, but wants one. A man so clearly scared of being left behind once more than he leaves first… and to prove him right.
What. the. hell.
I’m sorry, I don’t fuck with a show that gives happy endings to homophobic, misogynistic, racist white men, while woc and queer men end this way. When you’re telling queer men no one will actually fight for them. That they’re right in being scared of being alone, because they are.
Nuh uh. No way.
