it’s amazing that i’m still getting asks about this even today, and I really appreciate that so many people loved this series- but I’m very sorry to say as I’ve mentioned many times before here on my tumblr, the series is 100% dead and I don’t have any plans to return to it

I’ve suffered harassment and all sorts of other things over the slow updates because when I had first started the comic I hit a really bad bout of depression and fell out of wanting to draw as much, which then turned the entire thing into a chore, so I just..... stopped updating. not because I didn’t want to. but because it was hard on my current mental state, that I had at that time, to /want/ to update. that and family problems that I really don’t want to disclose here. a lot of crap happened all at once and that’s just the way that cookie crumbled in my life.

while i’m doing much better today, i’m really sorry to say that I have no plans to go back to the comic /due/ to said harassment and the way I was treated over not updating it. i’m very sorry. but it was free content, and the way some people treated me over it completely turned me away from the fandom.

I hope you can enjoy the content that exists for it currently. I don’t think my co-writer or myself would care if anyone wanted to pick up the pieces of the project from where we left off. it’s fine. go ahead.

Needed to practice drawing my boy again for the comic because would you believe I put this AU down for so long that I forgot how to draw his outfit? yeah. yeah that kinda happened. also a couple very subtle design changes, mainly to his satchel.

This was generally just a test comic page, testing the way I can set things up and do things and blahblah stuff like that. I posted a rough draft of it on my Twitter last night, but it got some fixing since then, so here’s this.

I guess I’ll just go ahead and drop the surprise now - I’m starting a Darkpath webcomic that will hopefully begin by the middle of this month, or the end of it. Hopefully by the 25th at latest? This page isn’t the beginning of the comic - it’s only a test, so this is how it’ll generally look appearance wise. Will this page actually happen in the comic eventually? Maybe. Dunno.

It’s also a small bit of fluff, even if Hiro is extremely uncertain and refusing to look at Tadashi, but hey. It’s fluff.

Two 100% different mood drawings with 100% different color palettes

Mainly just for color practice but I was also feeling in a Darkpath mood so I kinda... combined the two... as usual. Also gave Fred a bit of love too. He needs more of that. ~~even if he’s about to get a fiery fist to the gut but he’ll be fine his suit is fireproof~~

I needed cover art for a Darkpath playlist so I drew this up for it, because I have too many songs and I needed to put them somewhere.

Also since Hiro gets his mask slashed so much he finally just gave up (later in the story) and only wears half of it. Can’t say I blame him. Poor guy.

Eyy high five anon! Older DP Hiro won’t change too much admittedly, he does get a bit older appearance wise, but his clothing won’t change a whole lot. He gets a new coat, ear piercings, and hands the katana over to Tadashi, though.

It’s also fair to note that Hiro will only actually be seen ‘older’ in this AU if Tadashi fails to stop him.

Remember how I said “despite the ending Hiro and Tadashi will always be together”? Yeah. This is one of those. Tadashi gets caught, Wasabi disappears and has yet to be found, and eventually Tadashi emerges as a secondary ‘yokai’, and essentially acts as Hiro’s guardian beside Baymax.

This post was also casually hinting at this ending, by the way.

Armordashi Hiro gets grounded for leaping off of Tadashi’s back (and things in general) while doing risky stunts, meanwhile Darkpath Hiro gets grounded because he won’t stop punching his bro in the face and being a brat in general to the entirety of San Fran.

...I’d say a grounding is well warranted.

-What’s DarkpathAU?-

I needed a way to better reference their outfits, and I know some of you have been asking about references for them too, so here’s this. Including a sloppy height chart to show how much everyone’s grown (or lack thereof). Baymax is super tall now thanks to his added leg stilts, because Hiro is fully convinced that taller - more menacing, and “we want people to fear us”.

So Baymax is now overly huge and has many problems with doors, poor guy (added a zoomed in ver of the nerds sheet because of this reason, and seriously it was so hard to cram Baymax onto there BUT I TRIED MY BEST) Also I took off their helmets so you could see their hair and headbands and stuff, minus Fred who is nearly perma stuck in his suit by this point.

Here’s some insight into Tadashi’s backstory in darkpath, AS PROMISED, and also what the heck Callaghan’s role is, since a lot of you have been asking if he’s dead or alive.

Long story short, as you noticed, he saved Tadashi from the fire (though the kid almost died, suffered a nasty headwound, burns, etc. and was placed in a two year coma because of his head injury), admitted him as an anonymous patient in a neighboring city’s hospital, and left him there. No one but Callaghan knew he was alive - he didn’t want to risk his plans coming to light if someone were to discover Tadashi too early. Cue him waking up two years later, with extremely scattered memories, but a very clear memory of Callaghan, since he saw him before while still barely conscious, so unfortunately Tadashi 100% trusts him.

It’s just unfortunate that the man his mind chose to remember is the one that’s deceiving him into trying to get rid of Hiro for him, just to get him out of his hair so he can get the microbots back and resume his original plans. Callaghan is also the one who’s been sending out the fake Tadashi’s to Hiro. So now that the real Tadashi is here... well, he couldn’t be happier.

But, thankfully after Tadashi got Wasabi free, he cleared things up a little bit - but he still hasn’t revealed the full story about Hiro, which is what the next comic will be about. All Tadashi knows currently, is that the masked man is actually his little brother. And he needs to save him.

Nah, they’re not as blind as Hiro is. Their mental states are wavering, sure, just from all they’ve had to put up with - but they’re well enough to see that Tadashi is the real deal this time. His mannerisms, speech, everything he does matches up with the real Tadashi of their past. If anything, they’re all super happy Wasabi ended up with him - they know he’s at least safe that way, and know that they’ll take good care of one another.

Darkpath doodles with a bonus Armordashi because everyone seems to want more of both and so do I I want to draw both like 24/7

Top pic: Tadashi’s gauntlets in DP can put forth flames if he loads a special shell into them (replacing the shotgun shells), but they’re more for intimidation (and light) than they are for igniting, unless he strikes something at just the right spot. He tends to not use this much, since he has a small fear of fire now for... whatever... reason... (;´・ｖ・)

Second pic: Darkpath!Hiro tests, messing with the fact that he has a jetpack (that I rarely draw him using, good job me), and the fact that he can mold his microbots into varying weapons when he wants to fight. Crush things with a giant fist, smack em with a metal staff, stabby stab with swords - he can do all of that. Including using the magnets in his gauntlets to have the microbot weapons hover away from his hands. “Because it looks cool.”

Third pic: Hiro you brat even Baymax is against the idea of dropping a giant metal crate on that villain, he could get hurt (though Tadashi is actually amused at the idea if you ask him and he answered honestly, he considered it for a moment)

I've always liked the concept of a Yokai!Tadashi. Always. But at the same time it's something that breaks my heart because a villain Tadashi strikes me as the type that wouldn't be one willingly. Most likely, he'd be manipulated by someone behind the scenes.

That doesn't stop me from finding villain!Tadashi oddly attractive though (even if my heart's conflicted), and it also doesn't stop me from making this a potential outcome of darkpathau

Quick little action doodles because I'm experimenting with how Tadashi fights in darkpath au and armordashi au, and also because people were asking about how they fight. He's actually quite different in each - his darkpath version is more of a messy street fighter, a mix of martial arts, boxing, and kickboxing. Though oddly, he prefers to kick things rather than punch them, probably because he's afraid he'll actually seriously hurt someone with his gauntlets. They're pretty powerful, though the shotgun rounds they can fire off only serve to knock things back - they explode on impact, rather than pierce. His gauntlets also seem to be on fire sometimes, but only for brief periods.

Armordashi is a little different, since he wears heavy armor and has to keep a good eye on his leg braces (paralyzed from the waist down, don't forget). Tadashi is much more defensive here, opting for a 'pick heavy things up and throw them', 'use shields for pure defensive strategies', and 'punt things'. Since he has to keep a watchful eye on Hiro the entire time (as well as the rest of the team), he serves the role of the wall of steel guardian, with a bit of a medic thrown in thanks to Baymax communicating through his helmet and helping him apply proper dressings to injuries with the antiseptic built into his suit's hands.

TL;DR: Darkpath is a rogue, Armordashi is a tank - both have a love for kicking people in the face for whatever weird reason. Added bonus, darkpath Dashi can also shoot off flare rounds from his gauntlets when he needs someone to find him:
