dabi is in an incredibly shit mood.

well, he always is. it’s a part of him, the gloom. but today, he’s feeling it harder than usual. he’d been snapping at everyone, his patience wearing thin like a thread rolling off the end of a spool. and when the day’s heist doesn’t go perfectly— a hero managing to swipe at his face and grab a few staples keeping his skin together— dabi is even more foul.

he slams the door to his room, grabbing a needle, a bottle of the strongest pain medication he could nab from the pharmacy, and staples. without really figuring out the precision and dose— and who fuckin’ reads the side effects?— he fills the needle full of the liquid and pokes it in his veins.

warnings: heavy angst, suicide and depressing thoughts (multiple mentions of touya not wanting to live, however, there are no graphic details regarding self-harm), down bad!touya, light smut, endeavor being a shit dad, domestic abuse/corporal punishment (not graphic, but passing mentions), mentions of bruises and burn scars, use of cigarettes, high school!au (quirks still exist tho)

There’s nothing like summer in Musutafu: taiko drums pound away through the night under soft lantern lights; fireflies linger on blades of grass, emitting a soft glow that adds a bit more to the summer heat; children run up and down the streets in excitement as school comes to an end, the rebirth of another few months of freedom.

Touya can’t help but scoff at them as he walks home.
