Rudy's Curio Cabinet

@rudyscuriocabinet / rudyscuriocabinet.tumblr.com

A place to house artwork, links and music I enjoy. There is an 'About' page which talks a little more about who I am and what I do, but to give a brief note, I'm Eastern Orthodox by confession, into jazz, progressive and avant-garde music as well as post-punk and psychedelic, love art, pretty women and Jorge Luis Borges, Ezra Pound and P'u Song-Ling. Feel free to contact me to your heart's content, as I love shooting the breeze with people.

Actionfredag - Turist i eget liv (Expanded Edition)

This was an absolutely pleasant surprise! Our friends at áMARXE have published a Swedish band called Actionfredag who keep the spirit of the Canterbury Sound alive in the modern age.  The rhythms are tight, time changes about, and the production is punchy.  This is a good day to be a prog-head.

Jonathan Sharp - Divided Time

Castles In Space are a label whom I just stumbled into over the past few days, and I’m liking what I’m hearing from them a lot.  This particular piece of hauntology comes from Jonathan Sharp, a composer who is, like me, a child of the 70’s.  He split his time between Cumbria and London, and the music reflects his memories of those years long gone by.

László Hortobágyi - Music from Fomal-Hoot al-Ganoubī 1994-2023 [Re-Mix Mastered Version Series Vol. 3]

László Hortobágyi is perhaps the best known electronic/experimental music composer to ever come out of Hungary.  Our dear brothers at áMARXE Records have released Music from Fomal-Hoot al-Ganoubī, a 1991 release, as a remastered edition. From the áMARXE Bandcamp site: “Fomal-hoot al-Ganoubī is a mythological Arabic constellation. It is the planet whose warm milky-mist landscapes are home to…
