I commissioned @burninblood for this piece based on that one Twelfth Night promo photo (you know the one) and I absolutely love it. Look at Bucky's expression! And, Nat being, well, Nat! And, Steve leaning in for a kiss! The clean inking, the gorgeous coloring... I'm in love!

Crowley is convinced that a fairy is living in his beautifully tended garden, and in spite of his very best efforts he has yet to actually see one. He has been leaving a bowl of cream out in the garden each night as a little extra temptation - but so far, only the neighbourhood fox seems to be enjoying it. On the advice of a friend, Crowley decides to switch up his tactics. As it turns out, the fairy living in his magnolia tree just has much more exacting standards than your average brownie or gnome. This is made abundantly clear the next morning when Crowley comes downstairs to find his carefully wrapped bakery box now open on the windowsill, the ribbon it was secured with now fluttering in the early breeze. And inside, nestled amongst the finest profiteroles in the South Downs, he finds a round, pink-cheeked fairy, delicately licking cream off his tiny fingertips.
I was so charmed by the idea of a plump, spoiled little 'Azirafae' enjoying fancy human desserts that I couldn't help myself! 🩷 Entirely self indulgent! Will this be a fic one day? Who knows!
Had to sketch her because I'm getting abnormal about her.

On a scale of Steve Rogers to Miles Vorkosigan:
How well do you balance your ambition to live up to your father's military career with your physical disabilities?
How well do you cope with finding out someone tried to replicate the process that made you who you are and failed miserably?
How invested are you in maintaining a secret identity?
How well do you handle waking up from cryogenic suspension?
How well do you handle people's assumption that you are from a much more unpleasant culture than the society they consider home?
How well can you out-stubborn beloved childhood friends who run after you to try to stop you from what they consider bad decisions?
How well do members of the gender you're attracted to react to seeing you shirtless, especially if they could wipe the floor with you?
How often do you find yourself gravitating to people trapped in torturous, abusive relationships?
How easily do you make friends with the outcomes of mad science?
How often do you self-medicate your mental health challenges with substances that would kill anyone else?

Propaganda
Anna May Wong (The Thief of Bagdad, Shanghai Express)—Wong was the first Chinese American movie star, arguably the first Asian woman to make it big in American films. Though the racism of the time often forced her into stereotypical roles, awarded Asian leading roles to white actors in yellowface, and prohibited on-screen romance between actors of different races, she delivered powerful and memorable performances. When Hollywood bigotry got to be too much, she made movies in Europe. Wong was intellectually curious, a fashion icon, and a strong advocate for authentic Asian representation in cinema. And, notably for the purposes of this tournament, absolutely gorgeous.
Josephine Baker (The Siren of the Tropics, ZouZou)— Josephine Baker was an American born actress, singer, and utter icon of the period, creating the 1920s banana skirt look. She was the first black woman to star in a major motion film. She fought in the French resistance in WWII, given a Legion of Honour, as well as refusing to perform in segregated theatres in the US. She was bisexual, a fighter, and overall an absolutely incredible woman as well as being extremely attractive.
This is round 6 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.

Do you have personal headcanons about the Waynes' deaths and would you like to share them?
I know it has been done a bajillion times in various media to the point of it looking like old news, even though it has SO MUCH potential. And, ironically enough, I can't stop thinking about it.
It doesn't always have to be the same boring thing. It could be refreshing! It could be even more tragic! We are literally working with "The Waynes died in front of Bruce, now he's Batman." I'm craving any takes that take that and run with it in all directions.
Anyway. Would you like to share your thoughts on this?
So like. I've shared this a couple times in a few forms, but I'm not sure how much it's actually gotten into my fic or how spread it's been? Personally, I like how Batman 2022 handled it. They didn't show it at all. It's mentioned? It's a pretty significant plot point. But I didn't have to deal with the token Once Per Version, The Waynes Die scene. Mine's mostly influenced by when I came into the fandom; there was a lot of "it doesn't make sense to shoot two out of the three people if you're a panicking mugger/mob assassin/etc so WHY isn't Bruce ALSO shot?" and I think that the question of why he was left alive can be explored psychologically really well, if you want to have it be that Bruce was intentionally spared? But in general I sort of lean towards, like. He wasn't spared. ...Bruce played dead. Like. "I couldn't move, I couldn't stop it, I was a child, I was afraid."
Not conscious choosing to play dead. Not, "if I stay very still maybe he won't see me," but.
His father is shot. His mother turns to haul Bruce into her arms and run. She is shot in the back. Possibly multiple times. Bruce stops moving. He doesn't make a sound. The mugger/assassin/shooter turns and runs away. Bruce hears his father, still alive for now, trying to reach over. He is calling for Martha. He doesn't make it over. He doesn't have enough breath to call for Bruce. Thomas' expensive watch cracks on the concrete. Martha has bled out protecting their son. They don't know there's a survivor, until they pull Martha Wayne off of him.

That's thesamurider on instagram. Check her out. She's an amazing martial artist and stuntwoman.
You just told your coworker that you think myths are fun stories but don’t really communicate any truth. You walk into your office. There on the table you find a piece of paper. On the piece of paper there is a poem. It’s a good poem. It’s also, you realise as you read it, an academic refutation of your stance. It makes excellent points. It also rhymes and scans. Pov your name is Clive Staples Lewis
Um I want the full story for this please 😂😂
So before Lewis became a Christian he and Tolkien were having an argument where he said myths and fairytales are just “lies breathed through silver”. Rather than being normal bout this, Tolkien wrote him a poem called Mythopoeia as an attempt to refute him. It’s a good poem, but also an unbelievably extra move.
Ahh thank you you’re the best 😂😂 I love this. Their friendship is just peak.
Just looked up the poem and it is indeed very good. Also I love the dedication:
To one who said that myths were lies and therefore worthless, even though “breathed through silver” — PHILOMYTHUS TO MISOMYTHUS
Philomythus=loves myths
Misomythos=hates myths

Fandom is not uniquely toxic compared to the past.
I see a lot of people like "oh fandom used to be-!" but I'm here to tell you that no: it didn't. Look at one of the great Harry Potter wanks for examples: MsScribe made multiple sockpuppet accounts to bash a ship she didn't like, and to stir drama about what would now be called "purity wank." The war between Harry/Hermione and Hermione/Ron shippers was so fierce that entire websites rose and fell according to the tides of battle.
I remember fierce struggles between the original "shippers" (Mulder/Scully) and "noromos" (anti-shippers) in X-Files fandom in the nineties. I've gotten "flames" (harassment) for "making characters gay" in the Stargate and LotR fandoms. Sporking used to be a thing, for gods' sakes!
Fandom has always had toxicity, and the levels/flavor of that toxicity has been different depending on what fandom you've been in, but the general level of wank has not seen a steep increase over time, imo.
If you think there's been an increase:
- You may have previously been in fandoms / pockets of fandom with a low level of toxicity, and either it changed over time or you moved to a fandom with a higher level of toxicity;
- You may have not noticed toxicity because you were in the popular crowd, or bc toxicity was mostly directed outward from the groups you were in;
- The subject of toxicity changed from topics you could brush off / dismiss / ignore (or was even the type of toxicity you "agreed" with or thought was "justified") to subjects that actively made you uncomfortable;
- You just weren't aware of extant toxicity before and you are now (either bc of inexperience/naivete or bc nobody you knew was targeted, and that's changed now).
But to reiterate: the proportion of toxicity in fandom has not changed. Fandom has gotten bigger overall so there are more wankers than before, but the percentage of wankers and harassers haven't changed. And the tools/verbage they used may change, but the underlying nastiness hasn't increased.
Do not buy into the narrative that fandom was better in The Beforetimes - I've been in fandom over 25 years, and I'm telling you it wasn't. "Make Fandom Great Again" is a poisonous narrative used to appeal to your vulnerabilities. Challenge it, fight it, and figure out what you want from fandom while looking forward, not looking back.
