marvel relationship cannon is weirdly not explored in fandom. the fic potential is enormous.
Logan and Squirrel Girl used to date.
Steve Rogers dated so many black women that when a black kid showed up at his doorstep with his powers he had no idea who’s kid he could be.
Luke Cage has dated so many superheroes some people think he has a fetish for capes (he doesn’t)
Charles Xavier married Raven Darkholme (considering their views on personal appearance, makes a sort of sense I guess)
Prodigy has experienced the entire sexual history of every x-man he has ever encountered, making him perhaps the most knowledgeable lover in existence. he has also experienced every horrible relationship they have ever encountered giving him the warning signs. he is the best date on earth.
Namor dates non-humanoid sea people (and is a discrete gentleman about it)
T’challa has memorized the scent of everyone woman he’s ever been with and can recognize it on their new lovers instantly.
A woman who’s body can feel the future sought out Sam Wilson as a sexual partner. (which means she experienced him twice?)
Sam Wilson is so charming that red skull assumes any agent he sends to monitor the avengers will be turned.
Queen Divine Justice is a Dora Milaje who goes clubbing with the Hulk and marries a man who’s power is vibrating himself and others.
Blade is extremely popular with vampire’s, I don’t understand why, but there you go.
there has never been a king in the marvel universe who is not attracted to Ororo Munroe.
I lost it at Sam Wilson is so charming that red skull assumes any agent he sends to monitor the avengers will be turned.
red skull sent a department of defense agent who hates superheroes to monitor the avengers and learn their weakness. Sam convinced him to spy on the u.s. government and inform the avengers of what they’re up to.
cause Sam Wilson gives people faith in heroes.

tfw people act like DC is morally superior to Marvel
tfw people act like Marvel is morally superior to DC
tfw people act like a corporation with a track record of immorality and bigotry is morally superior to another corporation with a track record of immorality and bigotry
tfw people go above and beyond to shame someone for enjoying representation in a big blockbuster hit but refuse to be critical of their own media consumption
tfw there’s no ethical consumption under late capitalism
Also marvel wants comic book shops to decorate with hydra symbols and the staff to wear hydra uniforms
Just…how….?
I don’t even know what to say.
My local comic shop is staffed by a black man and a gay woman so no, they won’t be dressing up as Hydra vermin to try and promote the garbage that the disgusting sub-human dog-fuckers who run Marvel Comics are trying to promote
Also, because they don’t give a shit about promoting Marvel’s piece of shit comics, especially their utterly worthless “Event” trash
Oh my god WHAT
Marvel apparently looked at the disgusting marketing campaign that piece of garbage “Man in the High Castle” show did and thought “Yeah that looks like a good idea” and just kind of
Didn’t notice the part where all normal people were disgusted and appalled by it
How fucking tone deaf do you have to be to run a promotional campaign encouraging people to dress up as fictional nazis in today’s political climate where white supremacists and real life nazis are in a resurgence and the country is divided.
Related? Yes. A good idea? FUCK NO..

Actual real life Nazis are now making “Fan art” using Nazi Cap as a propaganda image
Marvel has a presence on social media, there is no way they are ignorant of this at this point
Their response?
“Hey everyone!
Dress up as nazis to promote our shitty event comic!”

Sorry but there is no excuse for this bullshit…Marvel KNOWS how this is making actual real world people who had their families or people like them be victims of the horrors of Nazi germany feel…we’ve literally sent letters, tweets and messages TO MARVEL about this making it clear how horrible, offensive and disgusting this is
This isn’t just a mistake…this is Marvel NOT CARING
I’m beginning to wonder if there aren’t a few nazis inside Marvel itself…
One of their executives donated a million dollars to Trump’s campaign
So the answer to that question is yes
You know perhaps instead of aiming complaints at Marvel, we should be aiming them at Disney.
Something tells me they might care a bit more about their reputation being tarnished by this pro-Nazi bullshit, and they DO hold Marvel’s leash now…
There really needs to be an organized letter writing campaign to their parent company.
Voting with your dollars is good, but ineffective if they don’t understand why, explicitly, they’re losing money.
Remember: free speech means this shit can’t be suppressed by the government. Disney coming down on Marvel like a fucking hammer would be capitalism functioning as intended.
If Spencer et al want to publish their ugly garbage on AO3 instead, that would be just fine by me. I support trash fiction. I don’t support enabling white supremacy financially. They have a right publish, not to be compensated for it. Nobody owes them a nickel.
Give these fuckers what Milkfed Yakofuckerface got: the door hitting their asses on the way out with a terminated contract.
Yes, this! Complaining to Marvel when their head is Ike Perlmutter, a vile old man who supports Trump, is worthless. Write to DISNEY, include examples of the alt right, Nazis, KKK, etc., photoshopping Captain America into a Nazi, and tell them that this is not suitable to children and it needs to stop.
Also? Boycott ANYTHING with Hydra Cap in it, on it, or whatever. Boycotting Marvel as a whole hurts Squirrel Girl and Ms. Marvel and other books that are not part of this. Tell Marvel that this is EXPLICITLY about Hydra Cap, and that the boycott will end when Tom Brevoort and Nick Spencer are fired.
This is a great idea - I’m looking up how to contact Disney right now!
Edited to add:
Boost the hell out of this. Nazi propaganda has no place in a decent society.

Also: A clarification on my own above comment-
The transposition of Moldbread Yankeedoodle with Milkfed was a sneering pejorative likening him to a pampered veal calf prepared for conspicuous consumption, not to in any way link his unworthy and vile ass with the excellent indie comic brand founded by DeConnick, Fraction, and Zdarsky.
(I forgot that was the name of their label, tbh. That’s on me.)
“These nominations come just days after Marvel’s Vice President of Sales, David Gabriel, went out of his way to blame Marvel’s lagging sales on comics—like Black Panther and Ms. Marvel—starring people of color and women. Suffice it to say that the optics of this whole thing don’t reflect well on the publisher, but the Hugo nominations send a telling message to Marvel about just how the public actually feels about its “diverse books.”
In his presentation to the Marvel Retailer Summit, Gabriel said that he and other executives heard from retailers that readers weren’t interested in change, despite the company’s many “fresh, new, exciting ideas.”
“What we heard was that people didn’t want any more diversity,” Gabriel said. “We saw the sales of any character that was diverse, any character that was new, our female characters, anything that was not a core Marvel character, people were turning their nose up against,”
While it’s true that Marvel’s sales have been steadily declining for some time now, the drop has been seen across its entire portfolio, not just with titles starring leads who aren’t straight, white men. Both Black Panther and Ms. Marvel have regularly charted as New York Times best sellers over the past few years and that isn’t by accident. It’s because of interest from communities of fans (like the body that makes up the Hugo Awards voting committee) who make the effort to critically analyze the titles despite the fact that Marvel doesn’t do the best of jobs when it comes to promoting them effectively.
Writing for The Guardian, JA Micheline correctly notes that while Marvel may have a handful of progressive characters, it doesn’t go out of its way to let new potential readers know about them in a meaningful way.
“Marvel seems to outright misunderstand capitalism when it largely limits its marketing efforts to comic-book shops – spaces that have historically been unwelcoming to marginalised people,” Micheline argues. “[I]t largely presents white male heroes to the public via its cinematic universe, then makes public comments that outright concede that its main interest is selling comics to white men.”
Pass on your legacy to those who are worthy of the name Hero.
can Marvel switch the Black Panther and Doctor Strange release dates because I really need more T’Challa immediately
By now, if you follow comics, you’ve heard that Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter donated $1 million to Donald Trump’s fundraiser last night. Under normal circumstances, a CEO making a generous donation to aid American veterans would be laudable–and probably not newsworthy in and of itself–but given the concerns raised over the questionable way in which The Donald has solicited the donations, and the fact that several major veterans groups have rejected his money, left a lot of people wondering: was this really a donation to benefit veterans? Or was it a donation to benefit Donald Trump? And if it was the latter, what does that mean for fans of Marvel comics? Did the money come out of Perlmutter’s private fortune, or did some portion of what you spent on your Marvel pull list support a political candidate who wants to deport millions of immigrants, build a wall along the Mexican border and require religious minorities to carry ID badges?
I have no easy answers to these questions. In an ordinary election cycle, I’d say that when the CEO of an entertainment company supports a conservative candidate while also fostering diverse creative talent within his company, it is a sign of a healthy democracy. Being a Republican is not a crime. However, this is not an ordinary election cycle, and Trump is not an ordinary Republican. The irony that Ms Marvel was launched on Perlmutter’s watch–while Donald Trump would like to prevent Muslims from even entering the United States–was not lost on the mainstream media, nor on me.
Rather fortuitously, I’m down in California on Marvel-related business at the moment, so I had the opportunity to talk all of this over in depth with a bunch of people who have been at the company a long time, and whose opinions I value. But after we talked, I found myself with more questions than answers. Can we separate a CEO from the company he runs, or the company from the creators, or the creators from the art? Should we?
People understand that in today’s world, we vote as much with our dollars as we do with our ballots. We don’t want the things we buy and enjoy to support bigotry and injustice. The real possibility of a Trump presidency is terrifying to those who would prefer not to live in a dystopian autocracy, and for obvious reasons, the idea that the CEO of Marvel supports Trump makes a lot of readers seriously concerned. Yet–frustratingly–boycotting books you love will not take a single dime out of Perlmutter’s pocket, much less out of Trump’s. It will, however, kill the books.
This is the great catch-22 of corporate art in any form. ( And it’s something I think about a lot.) It’s the flaw inherent in the system. There’s a lot I can’t say, so let me just say this: follow your conscience. I am going to continue to work on Ms Marvel, for the following reason: I have never, in my entire career, seen a character and a story light people up the way this has, and I need to see it through a little longer. (Unless of course I get fired for talking about this shit, in which case, it was nice meeting you all.)
In the meantime, there IS something proactive we can do in the wake of this controversy. Several wonderful veterans’ organizations will not benefit from Trump’s money because they refuse to be political footballs. One of those organizations is the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA). A dear friend of mine works very closely with this group, and I have been deeply impressed by what I’ve learned from him. These are people with a perspective on the wars of the last decade that you will not hear on CNN. Let’s help them get the support they need.

Write an episode of Dog Cops.
It was a dark and stormy night in Dogtown.
“Sparky,” Lt. Spot said, taking a long drag of his chew toy. “Where are we going?”
Sparky shook his head, pulling the car onto the freeway. It was tough having a new partner. He missed Lt. Rover, but Rover had been indicted for bone laundering and illicit dealing of kibbles. “We’re going down to the corner of Lassie St and Benji Ave. There’s been another murder.”
“Man,” Spot sighed. “That neighborhood has gotten rough. Used to be you could walk down there without a leash. These days, it’s nothing but cats and men with beards, as far as you can see.”
Sparky shook his head to get the fleas to stop biting him. Rover had a beard, he thought. But most Scotties did. It was the fashion.
“Any leads?” asked Spot, sticking his head out the window of their cruiser.
“Nah, just the same old. Kong stuffed with dodgy peanut butter, and a corpse.”
Spot narrowed his eyes and let out a forlorn howl.
“You said it, man,” Sparky nodded. “You said it.”
