And here we have the whole comic.

Pirithous was the king of the Lapiths and a good friend to Theseus. Together they agreed to get themselves daughters of Zeus for wives. Theseus chose Helen of Sparta (who later would be known as Helen of Troy), and Pirithous somehow thought that it would be a good idea to go down to the Underworld to kidnap Persephone. Big mistake. According to one version Hades and Persephone pretended to offer them hospitality, and made them sit upon the throne of Lethe (Forgetfulness). Some say that Persephone later showed mercy and allowed Herakles to bring them back to the upper world, but most sources agree that only Theseus was allowed to leave and that Pirithous had to remain in the Underworld. And others say that none of them ever returned.

This comic was quite inspired by this lovely short story.

In Aztec mythology, Coatlicue (”she with serpent skirts”) is the mother of the 400 stars in the sky, and one daughter, Coyolxauhqui (”she with bells on her cheeks”). When Coatlicue becomes pregnant illegitimately (by touching a tuft of hummingbird feathers - this sort of stuff happens a lot in Mesoamercan mythos), her children become both embarrassed and enraged. But none more so than her daughter, Coyolxauhqui. Together with her 400 brothers, she launches an attack on her mother, but it is foiled when her mother’s unborn son Huitzilopochtli (”the hummingbird on the left”) springs forth from her womb, armed for battle.

Huitzilopochtli dismembers Coyolxauhqui, and flings her head into the sky where it becomes the moon, so that her mother might look upon her always.

K so this was just supposed to be a warm up but i ended up going…almost all out with it. I love drawing Nenna. She’s like…in top five of my fav OCs to draw don’t look at me.
