"So what are we" - Sweet Pea angst blurb.
"I kinda wanna kiss you now" you whispered, shuffling closer to Sweet Pea.
He was laying on his side in the middle of Cheryl's bed, facing you with a devilish smirk on his lips, even if his eyes were halfway closed, "What's stopping you, doll?"
"We both know I shouldn't do that" you giggled nervously, but didn't dare move a muscle to distance yourself from him.
Sweet Pea lifted one of his hands and placed it gently on your cheek, looking at you in awe, with a wide smile on his lips, "Maybe..." he muttered, "Maybe you should since that's what you feel right now"
You watched him closely for a few seconds, your heart starting to pound as you felt closer and closer to the moment you'd jump on him and kiss him, "Do you want this?"
Taking a deep breath of air into his lungs, Sweet Pea spoke with a chuckle, "Wanted this ever since you first spoke to me months ago"
As you knew exactly what he meant, you released kissing him would probably be the biggest mistake right now. It happened last summer, while you, along with Archie, Betty and Jughead, stood in a booth at Pop's enjoying your daily milkshakes. Back then, rare were the days when those of the south side would cross the tracks and come to the north side of Riverdale, so it didn't take you long to notice a group of serpents entering the diner. Sweet Pea and some of his other friends, which you would later meet and become very close to, stopped by your booth to check on Jughead. Pea instantly took a liking to you and it was as obvious as it could be. He started talking to you out of nowhere, and when he dared ask for your phone number, Archie spoke up, "I can give you mine" making it clear whose girl you were.
Although months passed and you kept coming in contact with Sweet Pea more and more, nothing ever happened between the two of you, yet apparently, Cheryl's secret recipes for cocktails were deadly and had the power to make thing happen.
"I'm sorry" you sighed, and his your face into the pillow.
"Don't be, angel" Sweet Pea smiled, rolling onto his back, "I understand why you can't. I totally respect that. I crossed a line, I'm the one who should apologize"
Silence settled in the room as neither you nor him dared to speak up. Eventually Sweet Pea stood up and crawled to edge of the bed, grabbing his shoes and preparing to go back to the party downstairs.
You watched him, and despite only being able to see his back, your heart ached deeply, before it started pounding heavily, as you jumped up, and moved to sit beside him. When Sweet Pea turned to face you, you grabbed his cheeks and pulled him in for that kiss that you kept on hold for months. He tasted like whiskey and cigarettes, but at that point you loved it. His tongue was gentle against yours, and you felt like melting from every pore when he leaned his head into your hold, moaning into your lips.
For a split second, he placed his hands on top of yours, before moving along your arms. He ended up bringing you closer to his chest as the kiss turned more and more aggravated, moans and whimpers escaping from your lips as he leaned you down softly. Crawling on top of you, he moved to kiss down your neck, sucking fervidly on the skin right below your ear.
You arched your back in pleasure, tilting your head to the side so he'd have more space. Just when you started rubbing your thighs together to release some of the pressure Sweet Pea's touch brought upon you, he pulled away.
"Did you feel anything?" he asked, looking down at you as his locks fell around his face, framing his sculpted features, "Did you feel anything when you kissed me?"
"Because I did" he cut you off, "And I never felt something like this before"
"I felt it too" you confessed, feeling your chest tighten even more, "I know what you're talking about" you added, avoiding his gaze.
"So..." Sweet Pea whispered, nothing but hope audible in his voice. He tucked a strand of hair behind your ear, "Did anything change?"
"What do you mean?" you mumbled
"What are we now?" he asked shily, and when you failed to give him an answer or to even look at him, you heard his whole world come crashing down.
"I'm sorry" you hurried to say as you shuffled out from under him, "I should have never done this"
"But that's what you felt!" Sweet Pea countered, standing up to follow you. Before you managed to reach the door, he grabbed your forearm to make you turn around.
"Yeah, well-" you said, facing him, and looking into his eyes for the first time since your lips connected, "My heart isn't always right"
And with that, you stormed out of the room and back to the party. With tears streaming down your cheeks, you avoided all your friends and left Cheryl's house, cursing yourself for how you ruined everything you could have possibly had with Sweet Pea before you even started. Now you lost him, and seeing Archie come and be his understanding and comforting self, was the last thing you needed.
