Hope for Us

Sweet Pea x Reader

Soulmate AU

Summary: You find your soulmate to be Sweet Pea, a member of an illustrious biker gang. Not everyone is happy that your soulmate is a gang member, but they don’t really matter do they?

It started out as a normal day.

Then again… don’t all days?

“Oh come on!! (Y/N)! There is a whole new world of possibilities!”

“You mean the Southside High students? Lovely…” you murmur sardonically.

Ever since your friend had found her soulmate a year ago she has been hell bent on you finding yours.

“I’m sure they’re not all bad…”

“Gangs, Estell. Gangs. Gang violence. Gang activity. Drugs. Drug traffickers. Moral ambiguities! Is this the future you want for me? Is it?”

“…no…”

“I would hope not…”

“But! You should be open to possibilities!”

“Possibilities? When am I not open to possibilities?”

“You just said that you wouldn’t want a gang member!”

“Your soulmate is on the football team, captain of the debate team and an honor student who has already has early acceptance to his choice school… and you want my soulmate to be a gang member… well it was nice talking to you Estell! I’ve got to get to class.”

“Just saying you should keep an open mind!” She yells after you as you head towards your class.

The Southside high students are integrating into your classes today and the unmistakable nervous twitter of your classmates can’t be ignore. You know for a fact that many are dreading they will find their soulmate among the new students. You glance down at your wrist where the first words your soulmate says to you have been emblazoned on your skin. ‘Nice right hook you got there.’

You roll your eyes at the phrase you’ve read over and over again for the past few years.

Several new students pile into your history class and you already know this is going to be a bad day. Especially, when the biggest one sits down a couple of rows over. He doesn’t say anything throughout class, but you can feel the anger radiating off of him. The candid fact that Reggie and a few others from the football team keep making snide comments don’t help. After class lets out you all pile into the hallway and groan as Reggie makes one more snide comment. You watch the shoulders of the tall one tense up before he turns around and squares his shoulders at Reggie, who does the same. Now, normally this would be the moment that you would flee the scene, however, you’ve found yourself in a Serpent and Bulldog sandwich.

“What did you say to me?” Growls out the Serpent in a deep baritone.

“You heard me,” Reggie bites back.

With no warning, or regard to your trapped presence, Reggie throws the first punch. The Serpent, seeing you at the last moment pulls you to the side taking the hit full force in the face. You blink in surprise for a moment just as Reggie goes in for another punch. The Serpent is a little disoriented from the first blow, so he takes another hard hit that sends him stumbling backwards.

“Reggie! Stop!” You yell.

He just ignores you and continues his assault on the Serpent who isn’t even trying to fight back right now. It takes only a moment for you to realize why.

‘If he retaliates they will expel him…’

With a righteous anger you’ve never felt before you tap Reggie on the shoulder and when he turns around you punch him right in the nose.

“What the fuck (Y/N)! What was that for!” he barks at you between his hands.

“Just leave him alone Reggie! Beating up on someone for no reason is shameful!”

“He’s a Serpent!”

“He didn’t even do anything to you!”

“So your a traitor now? You’re going to side with them!?”

“Just shut up Reggie…”

“If you aren’t with us, your against us. Remember that.”

You roll your eyes as you turn away from him and towards the Serpent behind you. He isn’t there anymore and with a disappointed frown you walk away.

After classes have let out for the day you are heading out to your car when the words you’ve read a million times float to your ears.

“Nice right hook you got there!”

You stop dead in your tracks and turn to the Serpent behind you. The one from this morning that made sure you weren’t going to be hurt in the fray.

“Thanks… I’m sure yours is better…” you say it as barely a whisper, but he hears you and he stops dead in his tracks.

You both just stand there there staring at one another. Drinking in the man you are supposed to send your life with. The man who was made just for you.

“I’m Sweet Pea, your soulmate?” he says after a pause.

You smile softly, “You’re in a gang and your name is Sweet Pea? Now isn’t that ironic?”

He smirks, “No more ironic than the school brain ending up with the school thug.”

“You’re not a thug… a thug would have protected themself and not helped someone they’ve never met. A thug wouldn’t care if he gets expelled.”

“Hmmm… maybe,” he says as he takes a step towards you, “there is hope for us yet…”

“Let’s hope so…”

The next day starts out as anything but normal.

A guy clothed in leather on a motorcycle stops by your house, and gives your parents a heart attack, to pick you up for school.

You and Sweet Pea walk down the hallway together, shyly getting to know one another, both equally curious about the other. You notice the way that Reggie and few others’ eyes follow the two of you down the hallway. A bad feeling slowly brews in your chest and you clutch Sweet Pea’s hand tighter.

He glances down at you and notices your tense posture.

“You okay?”

You just nod and keep your head down. The looks from your classmates are making you uncomfortable and you untangle your hand from Sweet Pea’s.

“I’ve got to get to class, I’ll see you later?”

“It’s fine, I’ll walk you,” he says with a boyish smile and a shrug.

“No, I don’t want you to be late!”

He laughs, “You think I care about being late when I get to spend a few more minutes with you? Besides, I’ll just tell them that I got lost.”

Your heart melts at his reasoning.

“Okay,” You murmur softly and take his outstretched hand, entwining your fingers with his once again.

You are quite sure that before second period even started the entire school knew about you and Sweet Pea.

Estell comes running up to you in the hallway after your math class squealing, “You found your soulmate!”

“I did… I did find him.”

“What’s he like?” She asks in excitement.

“He’s… Sweet… not at all what I was expecting.”

“You seem oddly okay with the fact that he’s a Serpent, a gang member, when you were very against it yesterday,” she says with a Cheshire like grin.

“I don’t know… I was a little hesitant at first, but he’s not what I was expecting…”

You turn the corner and almost walk right into an all out brawl between the Serpents and the Bulldogs. You could see Sweet Pea in the center of it all with flames in his eyes and he looks terrifying.

“Maybe you shouldn’t be okay with having a gang member as a soulmate…” says Estell quietly as Sweet Pea hits her own soulmate in the jaw.

“Peter!” She yells in despair before she covers her mouth in fear and worry.

“Sweet Pea! Stop!” You yell in fear as you notice several teachers come tearing down the hallway to rip the boys apart.

“All of you! My office! Now!” Yells principal Weatherbee.

The boys with grunts and with glares head off towards the office. Sweet Pea doesn’t look you in the eye as he passes you and you don’t know what to say.

“Your soulmate just beat the shit out of my soulmate…” says Estell with a slight quiver in her voice.

“I’m sure there is a reasonable explanation…”

“No! You and your soulmate need to stay away from us…He’s dangerous!”

“Estell!” You yell as she turns and runs down the hallway.

The remaining students just glare after you as you head off down the hallway to your next class. You feel hopeless and a little lost as you contemplate what you should be doing.

You don’t see your friends or Sweet Pea for the rest of the day and everyone seems to be ignoring your texts. When the day ends and you notice that Sweet Pea’s bike is already gone, you feel anger lick at your heart as you start the long trek home, feeling thoroughly alone and scorned.

“How is it…” you grumble to yourself as you walk home, “Am I the person that everyone is mad at when I didn’t even do anything!”

When you get home you see Sweet Pea sitting on your front porch with his head down. You walk right up to him and he looks forlornly up at you.

“I’m sorry…” he croaks out.

You sit down next to him on the porch and just nod.

“Are you going to tell me what happened today?”

“They… they said I wasn’t good enough for you… that I would just drag you down and I should stay away from you. That one guy… Peter? Told me you didn’t want to have anything to do with me. That you’d told your friend that you couldn’t stand the fact that your Soulmate is a Serpent and you’re only being nice to me because you’re afraid of me…I was so heartbroken that I lost it… and I knew they were right… I’m not good enough for you…”

“Sweet Pea… The universe put us together for a reason, so obviously you are…”

“What if it’s a mistake? You know I’m not as smart as you… I’m probably never going to get out of this town.”

“Why would you not be able to? You can do whatever you want with your life.”

“Not if I end up in jail…”

“Who says you are going to? You’ve already written your future based on the assumptions of everyone around you… Look I know we aren’t a conventional pair, but that doesn’t mean you’re going to drag me down or be an inconvenience. Okay? It’s day two, let’s not assume that our life is over just yet okay?”

“So you’re okay with the fact that I’m a Serpent?”

“I-I’m getting used to the idea…”

He laughs as he wraps an arm around you, “They are my family, they’ve done more for me than my own parents have. If I ask them… the will put me through college.”

“Is that want you want?”

“It is now…”

“What’s changed?” you ask with a secret smile.

“Well… I met this great girl… and she believes in me… And I think we’re going to spend our life together, so I better get my shit in order.”

“Well… I think there might just be hope for us yet…”

EDIT: If I get at least 20 comments on this I’ll make this into a 3 part mini series.

You groggily rolled over as the loud sound of the alarm rang threw the air. Your hand fumbled around on the night stand in search of that damn alarm clock. Hitting the snooze button on the clock, the room once again fell into silence.

“You know we’re going to have to get up some time or another, we have class today.” Sweet Pea chuckled as you flipped back around and faced him. You groaned and rolled your eyes at the thought of having to get out of your warm and cozy bed.

“Do we really have to? I mean we could always ditch.” You smirked while tracing the outline of the serpent tattoo on his neck. He grinned as you ran your finger over his tattoo. He had remembered that you had once told him how sexy you had found his serpent tattoo.

He pulled you closer to him, placing his hand on your waist before capturing your lips into a passionate kiss. You tangled your hands in his hair as you lips moved together, perfectly in sync. He slowly let his hand traveled up your shirt. A moan made its way past your lips as he placed his cool hands against your warm skin. He pulled away from your lips before flipping you over so that you rested on top of him. You smirked before leaning down and crashing your lips back onto. He moaned against your lips as you slowly started grinding against his growing erecting. Just as Sweet Pea went to pull the thin black tank top from your body, the alarm went off.

“You have to be kidding me.” You groaned as you climbed off of Sweet Pea, hitting the alarm beside the bed.

“Welp, I guess that is que to get up and get ready for school.” Your boyfriend chuckled while watching you bury yourself under the big fuzzy blanket. You knew you had to get up and go to your classes but you were really dreading having to go.

“Fine.” You said after finally giving into the fact that you were eventually going to have to get up. You threw your feet over the bed, placing them on the cold wood floor of the trailer before grabbing a white striped tee and ripped black jeans out of Sweet Pea’s dresser. Since you stayed at Sweet Pea’s place often, you always kept a few pairs of clothes in his dresser.

“Do you need a ride to school?” Sweet Pea’s asked before bending down and grabbing his shirt off of the floor and sliding it onto his buff frame.

“Yeah.” You smiled and nodded before walking to the bathroom. Slipping out of your pj, you quickly put on your new pair of clothes. You grabbed your brush off of the bathroom counter and ran it threw your silky hair before grabbing a hair tie and pulling your hair into a messy bun.

“Ok I’m ready to go.” You said as you grabbed your book bag along.

“Lord have mercy. We might have to cancel school and calling in sick, I think I might be coming down with a fever.” He smirked while eyeing you. You glared at him as he walked closer to you, lightly pushing you against the wall.

“Oh no, I don’t think so. You forced me to get my ass out of bed so we are going.” You said, pushing him away a bit before walking out of his trailer.

“Geez, are all you Northsiders so punctual?” You glared at him and rolled your eyes as he handed you a helmet. He laughed before planting a soft kiss against your forehead. “You’re cute.” He softly said as he climbed onto his bike.

“I hate you.” You sighed while wrapping your arms around his body

Sweet Pea drove his motorcycle into the parking lot of Northside high. As he parked his motorcycle the sound of the roaring engine quickly died down. You pulled you helmet off before hopping off the bike and handing the helmet to Sweet Pea.

“Do you want me to pick you up after class?” Sweet Pea asked as he took the helmet from your grasp.

“I actually have to go home and grab a few things before I come back to your place.” You stared down at the pavement, avoiding his burning gaze.

“Are you sure that’s a good idea? I mean what if you dad is home?” His eye brows furrowed together as he looked at you with a worried gaze.

“Don’t worry if he is home he’ll probably be passed out drunk.” You swallowed down the lump in your throat as the tears began to prick that back of your eyes. You quickly wiped away stray tear that had rolled down your face in hopes that Sweet Pea wouldn’t notice.

“Hey, look at me.” You didn’t dare look up in fear of having to see his sweet brown eyes filled with sorrow. He hooked his finger under your chin, forcing you two look up at him. “Don’t cry baby, I hate seeing you cry.” He cooed as he pulled you into his embrace.

“It just pains me to think that he doesn’t want anything to do with me. He hasn’t ever since my mom passed away. And not to meantion he blames me for everything, his alcoholism, my mom’s death, for him losing his job. Whenever something bad happens he always finds away to blame it on me.” You said after you finally pulled away from his warm and comforting embrace.

Sweet Pea didn’t say anything he just looked at you. He felt hurt that you had to go threw something like that but he also felt a rage boiling up inside of him as he thought of what you father had put you threw. He remembered you had once told him that home wasn’t the greatest place for you but he never knew what you had meant and he definitely didn’t want to pry.

“Well why don’t I go with you to get your stuff and then you can come stay with me for awhile?” You shook your head as you looked at him.

“No way, if my dad by some chance happens to be awake or sober and finds out that we are dating, he will lose his shit. He would probably literally kill me.” He lightly chuckled at you statement.

“Babe, I think you might be slightly exaggerating the last part of that sentence.” He teased causing you to crack a small smile.

“Shut up.” You said, giving him a light smack on the arm.

“Hey, at least I go you to smile.” You rolled your eyes before walking closer to him and his black motorcycle.

“Whatever, I have to get to class.” You sighed as you clutched the straps of your bag.

“Do I get a kiss before you up and leave me?” He teased before puckering his lips. You laughed and shook you head at his childish behavior.

“If you keep doing that you won’t.” His eyes went wide at your statement and he immediately stopped teasing you. He threw his leg over his bike, getting off of it before placing himself in front of you. You smiled as you wrapped you arms around his neck.

“Text me after you get out of class and grab your stuff from your house, I’ll can come pick you up.” He said before placing a gentle kiss against your lips.

“I’ll see you later.” You smiled as he released you from his embrace. After pulling away from Sweet Pea, he hopped back onto his bike and you quickly headed off to class. You walked up the paved sidewalk before reaching the doors of Northside High. Before you had the chance to open the door someone came up behind you and grabbed a hold of you.

“Boo.” The person said causing you to swiftly wip around. You let a sigh of relief when you turned around and realized it was just your best friend.

“Jesus Christ, Kevin, you scared the living crap out of me.” You fussed. He laughed as he held the school door open for you. You thanked him before walking in, him following closely behind you. You two made your way to the lockers to place your stuff in there before you had to home room.

“Oh I’m sorry, that totally wasn’t my intention.” He sarcastically said while you entered the combination to your locker. You popped your locker open before shooting him a glare.

“Fuck you, Keller, that wasn’t funny. I almost had a freaking heart attack, I though I was being megged or something.” He laughed as he grabbed his books for class out of his locker.

“On school grounds, really?” You shut your locker before answering him.

“Yes, I mean you never know when you could possibly get mugged.” You snickered as you started walking down the hall with Kevin, heading towards your shared home room.

“Ok, whatever you say.” He laughed. “Did you hear that the school got vandalized last night?” You swiftly turned your head and looked at him with wide eyes.

“What? For real?” You asked in shock. He nodded as you two continued walking down to crowed hallway.

Finally, you and Kevin made your way to the small classroom with five minutes to spare. You two walked in together and you scanned the room for an empty seat. You quickly spotted two empty seats side by side in the back of the classroom which you both made your way towards. As you and Kevin opened up your books and got prepared for the class to begin he spoke up, breaking the silence between you two.

“Hey, y/n, don’t look now but Sheriff Minetta is talking to our teacher.” You subtly looked behind Kevin and sure enough you saw Sheriff Minetta talking to your teacher.

“What is he doing here?” You asked as you looked back at Kevin. He shrugged as he looked back over to your teacher and Sheriff Minetta.

“Maybe he is here about last night vandalism.” He suggested. Before you got a chance to answer back to Kevin, Sheriff Minetta began walking towards you and Kevin. Kevin glaced at you with a worried and confused expression very evident on his face.

“Y/n, please come with me. I believe there is something we need to discuss.” You shook your head as you nervously got out of your seat. You grabbed the few books setting on your desk before following Sheriff Minetta out of the classroom.
