A/N: I didn’t mean for it to be this long, but I got into it. Good vibes. Hope you enjoy!!
Y/n, a Northsider. A Rivervixen, high-strung, straight A student. These were four words y/n would use to describe herself. Except for tonight.
It was your typical high school party at Reggie Mantle’s house while his parents were out of town. Y/n stood in her group of friends, also Rivervixens, barely listening to their conversation.
Instead, she was thinking about her typical secret bad boy boyfriend, Sweet Pea. Well, maybe ex now. They had just decided to end things, after y/n had seen him cozying up to another girl at Riverdale High, another Serpent. It’s not like they were official or exclusive, but still. She stopped answering his calls and texts, until one day he had shown up at her door, begging for a reason as to why she wouldn’t talk to him anymore.
“I thought it was me and you, Pea!” y/n had exclaimed, fighting back tears.
“It was, y/n! Until you decided you didn’t want anyone to know about us. Really fucking with my feelings.”
Y/n had promptly ended it then and there, closing her door in his face, and ever since that moment, she had been plagued by immense guilt. She shouldn’t have done that. They’d spend almost four months together, and not just random hook ups. Genuine deep talks, movie marathons, study dates, but never in public. Y/n knew if she was caught by her friends with a Southside Serpent, she wouldn’t have friends anymore. To be fair, y/n had known for a fact that he hadn’t told his friends either.
As if her thoughts had come to life, a band of Serpents, plus Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones, has just made their entry into the thriving party.
Y/n felt her heart do a double skip when her eyes met Sweet Pea’s own dark ones, and he pretended not to know her, his eyes skipping over her to check out one of her friends.
“Do you guys see that Serpent ogling me? Ugh, gross.” Hannah said, rolling her eyes before dragging her friends from the scene of the Serpents.
Y/n was left there, staring in awe at what had just happened. She felt jealousy, heartbreak, loneliness all over again.
With a sigh, she decided to go off in search of her friends, pushing through the masses of teenagers to the kitchen, pouring herself a vodka cran and mixing it with her pinky before taking a large gulp.
“Fight! Fight! Fight!” came a chant from the back yard, and y/n found half the party out surrounding The Serpents, led by Sweet Pea facing Reggie Mantle, who had Bulldogs football players flanking his left and right.
“No one invited you, Snakes!” exclaimed the football player, poking his finger in Sweet Pea’s chest.
Y/n pushed her way into the circle, peering over someone’s shoulder on her tip toes.
“Do I look like I need an invite to a party, Mantle?” Sweet Pea spat, grabbing Reggie’s finger and twisting it.
“Like hell.” Reggie scoffed and threw his right fist into the side of Sweet Pea’s head, the crowd of students erupting in cheers as the bulldogs held Reggie back as the Serpents came to guard Sweet Pea, who was stumbling back, hand to his head.
“Pea!” you yelled, causing your friends to recognize your voice, turning to you in disbelief. They were looking, but she didn’t care. She ran to him.
Y/n wrapped an arm around a stumbling Sweet Pea, a look of worry on her face and she was helped by Fangs Fogarty grabbing Sweet Pea’s otherside as they backed out of the fight and out into the front yard, which was much quieter than the back.
She wasn’t sure if Sweet Pea knew it was her. He kept cursing and spitting blood out of his mouth.
“Y/n?” came Betty Cooper’s voice.
It was then Sweet Pea became aware of who had him by the arm.
“The fuck, y/n?” he scoffed, yanking his arm away from her.
“I was getting you out of there.” y/n never could stand to see Sweet Pea’s bruised, bloody, pained faces after a fight, and this time she was finally able to prevent it. The other Serpents saw something was clearly going on and went back inside to retrieve their friends.
“I don’t give a shit, why’d you grab me in front of your friends, y/n? You can’t let them know that there’s something between us!” he exclaimed sarcastically.
“I don’t care. Sweet Pea.” her voice turned pained instead of brave.
“Oh yeah? What’s changed?” he prodded, fire in his eyes.
“I realized something, Pea. I realized I love you. I love you with all my fucked up, piece of shit heart.” you admitted, tears welling in your eyes.
Sweet Pea’s gaze immediately switched from hard to soft, his mouth falling agape slightly.
“I love you.” you repeated.
“Why do you think that’s going to change anything, y/n? You can’t just decide to throw me out of your life when you didn’t want anyone knowing I was in it, then just decide you love me?” his voice was quieter, calmer.
“I fucked up, I know I did. That doesn’t change how I feel about you. I didn’t know how to tell you, Pea. I wanted to the day I saw you with your brown haired friend who was in your lap, the one I saw you with. I just wanted you to know. I shouldn’t have been ashamed of you. I’m not ashamed of you, okay? Not anymore.” you ranted, pleading.
Sweet Pea processed the information just given to him. “What are you trying to say, y/n?” he asked.
“I’m trying to say I want this,” she gestured between the two of them. “I want us again. For real.”
“Official, exclusive? You want people to know about us this time?” he asked.
Y/n took his large hands in her much smaller ones. “Yes, Pea. Dates at Pop’s, the Bijou, you name it. I don’t care who knows anymore.” you begged.
“Okay, okay. I guess we can do it.” he sighed, pulling you into his embrace.
Y/n was surprised, but willingly wrapped her hands around his middle.
“I’ve missed you, princess.” he whispered against her head.
Y/n pulled back to look at the tall Serpent, and pulled him down to meet her lips, catching his gently and he willingly kissed her back, his hands twining in her hair before breaking the kiss momentarily. “Y/n,” he started, his dark eyes gazing into hers. “I love you too.”
