(sweet pea x andrews!reader)
Summary: “I’ve been telling her this from the beginning, and now I know I was right. Hanging out with you is only going to end up hurting her in the end, so stay back” Archie growled, shoving Sweet Pea back and stomping back to the car.
Sweet Pea clenched his jaw, refusing to look up to where he knew Y/N was watching from the car window. Feeling his heart squeeze in his chest, he turned around.

A/N: Wow, all the support for part one made me soft, y’all are some great sisters. 😔✊ 💖 THIS IS NOT THE LAST PART OF THE SERIES, ya girl got a plan. Also if you have Sweet Pea and Archie gifs, I would appreciate using them (with credit). English isn’t my first language, so I apologiza for grammar errors.
Y/N stepped out of her bathroom, her hair still wet from the shower. She had woken up that morning with a bad feeling in the bottom of her stomach, the hot water attempting to wash it away.
She pulled on a sweater and a pair of jeans before walking down the stairs, still anxious about seeing Archie. They hadn’t talked properly since the fight the day before yesterday. Her brother was sitting in the kitchen, eating eggs. Their eyes met, and she immediately turned around. “Hey, Y/N, wait!” Archie called out.
“Sorry, Archie, I have to go, school, you know-”
“Come on, Y/N, let’s talk, I don’t want us on bad terms when dad comes home, okay?”
Y/N stopped at the mention of her dad, the butterflies in her stomach coming out of their chrysalis at full speed. She might not be Archie’s biggest fan, but above all else, the Andrews were a family. Now, more than ever. She sighed and sat down on the couch, Archie taking the seat next to her.
“I’m sorry I yelled at you. I’m just worried, you know?” She nodded silently. “I don’t want you getting hurt.”
“I understand that, Archie. And thank you for looking out for me. But you have to understand, Sweet Pea could never hurt me!”
“Not willingly.” Archie added in. He didn’t like Sweet Pea, but he could tell that the Serpent cared for his sister.
“What does that mean?” Y/N asked defensively, but Archie put a hand on her arm to calm her down.
“He’s a Serpent, Y/N. He runs with a gang, he’s getting in trouble all the time.” She opened her mouth to argue but he cut her off. “Now, I’m not saying he’d put you in any sort of danger willingly, but if something bad happens and you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time, I….I can’t lose another member of my family, Y/N.” She pulled her brother into a hug, and felt him tremble. Archie talked big, but under it all, he was just a scared kid who was trying to protect his family.
“You’re not going to lose me, Arch. Never.”
“I love you, Y/N.”
“I love you too, Archie.”Archie pulled away from the hug and helped her up.
“Come on, I’ll give you a ride to school.”
During the ride, Y/N was silent. Archie brushed it off, thinking she was just tired after the ordeal, but in fact, she was worried. She was thinking.
Before this, she had been willing to risk it all for Sweet Pea, for being with him. Her home, her friends, her family, none of it seemed to matter when they were together. But now, she felt selfish. She hadn’t thought about them, about what would happen if she got hurt. Archie would have to go through everything he went through when their dad got shot all over again, and this time, he wouldn’t have her to lean on. What about her dad? He just finished fighting to survive to find out his daughter lost her own fight? What would that do to him?
Was it worth it? She loved Sweet Pea more than anything, but was being with him worth losing it all. Yesterday, she would have said yes. Today, she was unsure.
When Archie parked the car, she got out quickly and basically bolted up the stairs, eager to look for a distraction from all the thoughts running through her head right now. What she got was anything but.
Sweet Pea was waiting by her locker, drumming his fingers against the metal. Her heart raced, and she instinctively began to twist the ring on her middle finger, the ring he had given her. She didn’t want to lose Sweet Pea, of that, she was sure. But Archie couldn’t lose her.
“Hey,” Sweet Pea said as she walked up to her locker.
“Hey.” She gave him a small smile, but she couldn’t make it reach her eyes.
“Everything good with you and Archie?” He asked, running a hand through his hair. She smiled at his quirk, something she knew he only did when he was feeling nervous.
“Yeah, we talked this morning. Everything’s good.”
“Great. So I was thinking, there’s this party at the Wyrm tonight, if you wanted, we could go together?” He laced his fingers through hers, raising an eyebrow hopefully.
“Actually, I had a different idea.” His face morphed into one of confusion, and she elaborated. “Tonight’s Andrews Movie Night, and I was hoping you could come over? Maybe you and Archie could finally try to get along?”
“Are you sure he wants me over? Isn’t Family Movie Night, like, something for families?” Sweet Pea was unsure, especially after how he and Archie fought the other night. But when Y/N stepped closer and kissed his jawline, he felt some of his own worries dissolve.
“Come on, Pea, you and Archie have got to learn to get along at SOME point. What better time than now?” She stuck her bottom lip out and squeezed his hand. “Just think about it?”
Sweet Pea smiled and nodded, always unable to hold out against her. “Only for you, princess.” Threading his fingers into her hair, he pulled her in for a kiss. “I have to get to first period, but I’ll see you later?” She nodded and got on her tip toes to kiss him again before walking off.
“Do you really think you can get them to get along?” Cheryl asked Y/N as the two redheads changed out of their Vixen uniforms.
“Honestly, Cher, I have no idea,” she groaned, sitting down on the bench with her head in her hands. Tonight could either go good or disastrous, and I have no clue, which kills me. I just really need them to get along.”
“Hey.” Cheryl put her hand on the girl’s shoulder, rubbing it soothingly. “Both Archie and Sweet Pea love you. They both want what’s best for you, and if that means they have to get along, then I’m sure they’ll try, okay?” Y/N nodded. “Good, now calm down and go home, you have a movie night to plan.”
“Thank you, Cheryl.”
Sweet Pea caught up with her outside school. “Walk you home?”
“Definitely.” Taking his hand, the two began to walk out of the school grounds. The knots in her stomach began to loosen just a bit. “Are you nervous?”
“Pfft, no, what could go wrong?” Sweet Pea said sarcastically. “I mean, it’s not like your brother and I could end up killing each other?”
“No, no, no, you have to think positive because if you thnk negative, then I think negative.” He chuckled and pulled her in for a kiss, cupping her face.
“It’s going to be great, as long as we don’t watch any chick flicks.”
“Don’t worry, it’s Archie’s week to choose, anyway.” Sweet Pea mimed pumping his fist into the air, but when he opened his eyes, his smile was wiped off of his face. “Sweets? What’s wrong?” Saying nothing, he grabbed Y/N’s arm and started speedwalking. “Sweet Pea? What’s happening?”
“Don’t look back, it’s a Ghoulie car, they’re following us. Get ready to run when I tell-” He cussed under his breath as the car pulled up alongside them, 4 Ghoulies getting out. “Malachi. Long way from the Southside, aren’t you?”
“I could say the same for you, snake,” the man, Malachi, grinned lazily, his eyes alight with something that made Y/N squeeze Sweet Pea’s arm. He nodded his head at her, his eyes never leaving Sweet Pea. “Picked up a Northsider, huh?”
“What the fuck do you want?”
Malachi shrugged. “Nothing from you.” His eyes finally dropped to Y/N, and he looked at her for a moment before he spoke. “Maybe from her? Must be special for you to be dating Andrews’ sister, huh Sweets?”
“You little-” Sweet Pea lunged, delivering a right hook to Malachi’s jaw. The Ghoulie grinned as the other three accompanying him grabbed Sweet Pea, throwing him onto the floor.
“Sweet Pea!” Y/N screamed. She ran over, but Malachi grabbed her, holding her back from the fight. It was Sweet Pea against three Ghoulies, who were currently punching the shit out of him. “Let him go, you son of a bitch!” She screamed, struggling against Malachi’s hold.
“Wow, muzzle your bitch, Serpent, she’s got quite the tongue.” Y/N slapped him, and the light left the Ghoulie’s eyes, replaced by something dangerous. He pushed her back with an astonishing amount of force, and her head hit the curb.
Sweet Pea’s eyes flashed, and before Malachi could realize what was happening, his men were down and Sweet Pea was on top of them. “Don’t-You-Dare-” each word was punctuated by a punch. “Ever-Touch-Her-Again!” Malachi’s nose was gushing blood.
The three Ghoulies stood and picked up Sweet Pea, holding him against a wall as he struggled. Malachi stood up, wiping blood from his nose and smearing it onto his pant leg as he whipped out a pocketknife. “She’s next,” he said, gritting his teeth. Right before he could do anything else, 3 bikes and a car pulled up next to the curb. FP, Jughead, and Fangs got off of their bikes, Archie stepping out of his car with his baseball bat in tow.
“Unless you want a full on gang war on your hands, Malachi,” Jughead threatened, whipping out his own switchblade. “I suggest you let our friend go right now, or none of you are walking out of here alive.”
Malachi chuckled and pocketed his switchblade, waving at his men to tell them to knock off. “Not today, boys,” The Ghoulies shuffled into their car and took off, swerving to avoid the brick Fangs threw at their windshield.
“Are you guys okay?” He asked when the car was out of sight. Sweet Pea nodded, helping Y/N to her feet. She had a cut on her forehead that was bleeding.
“We better get going,” FP said. “Malachi will try to pull something tonight. Stay safe, you two.” With that, the three took off, bikes blaring after the Ghoulies.
The horrible feeling returned to Y/N’s stomach as she turned to Archie. “Archie, I-”
“Go sit in the car, Y/N.” His fists were clenched and he was visibly shaking. She opened her mouth to protest, but he shot her a look and she closed it, sending one more look to Sweet Pea before getting in the car.
Archie ran a hand through his hair before turning on Sweet Pea. “How did this happen?”
“I was walking her home, Ghoulies were following us since we left the school, I think.” Sweet Pea swallowed, tearing his eyes away from Y/N. “Andrews, I-”
“No! You don’t get to say anything. My little sister could’ve gotten-” he cut himself off, not wanting to think it. “I’ve been telling her this from the beginning, and now I know I was right. Hanging out with you is only going to end up hurting her in the end, so stay back” Archie growled, shoving Sweet Pea back and stomping back to the car.
Sweet Pea clenched his jaw, refusing to look up to where he knew Y/N was watching from the car window. Feeling his heart squeeze in his chest, he turned around and walked away.
Archie was silent most of the car ride home. Y/N was shaking, playing with Sweet Pea’s ring. “Arch-”
“I don’t want you seeing him again. No negotiating this time, Y/N, I’m banning you from ever hanging out with him, final decision.”
“Archie, he didn’t know-”
“It still happened, Y/N! What would’ve happened if Jug, FP, Fangs, and I didn’t show up on time, huh? Both of you could’ve ended up dead!” They pulled up at the house and Archie sighed, stretching his hands on the steering wheel. “I’m sorry, okay? But I can’t change what’s going on in Riverdale.”
Y/N nodded with glassy eyes, a lump forming in her throat as she walked into the house and up the stairs. “Not now, Vegas,” she croaked, shutting her bedroom door and falling onto her bed.
She cried silently, hoping that at any moment Sweet Pea would show up at her window, wrap her up in his arms, and kiss the tears away. He never did. She knew Archie was right. He was a Southsider, she was a Northsider, they were never meant to be together.
But all the stars just happened to cross when they met, and now here they were.
pea?
pea, please talk to me.
baby, i need to see you, I’m going crazy.
are you ignoring me?
She stared at her phone, about to type another text, but shook her head and slipped it back into her jean pocket. A melancholic filter had been cast over everything, even the pancakes Pop Tate made specially for her this morning tasted like sawdust in her mouth. There was a pit in her stomach, maybe because in the back of her mind, a little part of her knew just what might happen next. When she opened her locker, a note fell out.
need to see you. room 405 before 1st period.
-sweet pea
no little doodles or hearts or smiley faces, no emotion, nothing would suggest in the slightest that this note was from sweet pea if he hadn’t signed his name.
Slowly, she opened the door to Room 405, spotting Sweet Pea standing by the window. “Sweet Pea?” He turned around, and for the first time, she noticed a purple bruise blossoming under his eye. From yesterday. “You were scaring me, you weren’t answering my calls.”
“Y/N, I think we should br-”
“Yeah, I know. Not that hard to figure out,” she cut him off, knowing immediately what this was.
In two strides, he was in front of her, enveloping her in a huge hug. She buried her face in his shirt and let the tears fall, breathing in his scent for what might be the last time. A scent of cigarettes and pine trees and motor oil, home. “I wish we didn’t have to say goodbye,” he whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “But I can’t risk if you got hurt because of me. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself. I love you so much, doll.”
“I love you too. You know, it kind of sucks to be the star crossed lovers of Riverdale High.” She said the last part with a laugh, wiping a stray tear from the corner of her eye.
Sweet Pea pulled back from the hug slightly and chuckled, and she could see his eyes shiny in tears. “Yeah, it kind of does, doesn’t it?” Then the somber mood returned, and Y/N stood on her tiptoes, grabbing Sweet Pea by the collar of his leather jacket and pulling him down to kiss her.
It was sad, sweet, desperate, long, each of them holding on for as long as they could, knowing that when they broke apart, they would be shoved back into reality.
But just for a moment, they wanted to be together, kissing in the middle of a quiet classroom. Marking their own end.
