Sweet Pea drummed anxiously against the front counter as he sipped on coffee he didn’t really want, in need of the caffeine more than anything; Toni and Fangs had agreed to swing by on their lunch hour and his stomach was in knots at the thought. The second he’d watched you drive off he knew he would have to tell them, but how to break it to them had kept him up half the night. When he had finally fallen asleep his dreams had been plagued by your memory, the good and the bad times you’d had together. Everything had been going so well for him up until the moment he saw you in the store, he should have known good luck was never on his side for long.
The bell above the front door jingled, Toni’s heels clicking through first with Fangs right behind her, his hair covered in drywall dust from the latest job he’d been working on. Retreating to his office for the pizza he’d picked up, Sweet Pea added three bottles of beer from the fridge he kept well stocked before returning to the front, Toni and Fangs already seated at the counter.
“So what was so important that it couldn’t wait?” Popping the top on her bottle, Toni took a deep sip as she helped herself to a piece of pizza, it wasn’t uncommon for the three of them to get together for lunch from time to time, but Sweet Pea had been insistent about today and it had sent alarm bells off.
Toying with the bottle top, Sweet Pea watched the two friends across from him as he released a reluctant sigh; beating around the bush had never been his way and he had no intention of starting it now. He figured this was like ripping off an old band aid, the sooner it was out the better. “She’s back.”
Chucking, Toni took a bite of her pizza, leave it to Sweet Pea to be as vague as possible. “Ok… that could mean a thousand different people, going to need more information than that. Who’s back?”
“Y/N”
Fangs stopped mid chew, eyes wide in surprise as he just looked across the counter at Sweet Pea. He had to be mistaking… there was no way. “Are you sure?”
“Of course I’m sure Fangs, I fucking talked to her.”
“You talked to her? Like in person…”
Nodding, Sweet Pea took a long pull from the bottle to try and ease the anger that flickered as he watched the surprise and hurt dance across his friend’s features. He wasn’t sure if you knew or cared about the pain you had caused, but he cared for you and had always resented you for it. Family didn’t do this to each other. “Yeah. At the beer cooler at SoGreat Mart and then again in the parking lot.”
“Did she say what she was doing back?”
“Said she was just in town to handle Beth’s affairs. Didn’t sound like she was planning on hanging around very long.”
Fangs’ stomach dropped, everyone on the southside knew Beth and the trainwreck that she was, but he was surprised that you’d come back to clean it up. “What has she been doing since she left?”
“We didn’t get that friendly, Fangs.”
“Then what did you talk about?”
“There were more hostile declarations made than actual conversation…”
Toni had been silent since Sweet Pea dropped the bomb of information, her brain trying to wrap around the idea of you being back after all this time. The two of you hadn’t spoken since the night you high tailed it out of town and no one knew what had become of you. “How does she look? I mean…she look ok?”
Sweet Pea: hey Y/N why don’t you have a significant other?
Y/N: my parents are very strict, why don’t you have one?
Sweet Pea: your parents are very strict.

A/N: I should be getting ready for a Super Bowl party, but I couldn’t help but write up a little drabble before heading out.
________________________________________
Sweet Pea’s fingers traced circles across your lower back, the flannel sheet draped haphazardly across your backside to deter his fingers from wandering any farther. Snow dancing outside the bedroom window and the warmth of the man below you was making it extremely difficult to get motivated. There was a bathroom that still needed to be cleaned, a bar that needed to be set up, food to warm up and a kitchen to stage but in this moment you were struggling to care.
Nose buried against his neck, you left butterfly kisses where his pulse beat before propping yourself up to look down at him. Eyes closed and breathing even, if it wasn’t for the constant movement of his hands you would have thought he’d fallen asleep on you. “We should probably get a move on…”
Propping open one dark eye Sweet Pea considered your words for a moment before closing it again and continuing his massaging, his fingers working in just a was that almost made you purr in extacy. It took all of your self-control not to lay your head back down and fall back into a comfortable doze, but alas responsibility over rode contentment.
Fidgeting against him you did your best to untangle your limbs and get out of bed, but Sweet Pea only adjusted his grip on your hips, effectively locking you against him. Hitting him playfully against his chest, you gave him the best disapproving look you could muster while trying to lock down the smile that kept threatening to escape. “Come on. We committed to hosting this year’s party. We’ve got a lot of stuff we have to get done before everyone starts showing up.”
Not loosening his grip, Sweet Pea glanced at the bedside clock. The green numbers the glowed back at him meant the two of you still had a few hours before your friends would start showing up. Grinning up at you as calloused fingers began to make their way beneath the sheet, Sweet Pea watched with amusement as a flush began to work its way up your neck. “It’s still early.” He felt your muscles begin to relax despite your best effort; sensing he was gaining the upper hand, Sweet Pea began to trail kisses along your collarbone, his teeth nipping playfully as he meticulously made his way towards your throat. “You did all the big stuff yesterday. We still have a little time to spare.”
Your skin seemed to hum under his attention, a trail of goosebumps following in the wake of calloused fingers that massaged there way down your thighs. Doing your best to collect your quickly fleeting logic, you shifted away from Sweet Pea’s lips just as he nipped at your chin. “If we lounge around much longer people will be showing up to watch the Super Bowl and we’ll still be in bed…”
“And we wouldn’t want that…” Slowing working his fingers back to your waste, Sweet Pea kissed and nipped his way along your jaw. “But you can’t have a Super Bowl without a pre game show…”
Body responding to his touch without your consent, you could feel Sweet Pea smile against your cheek as an involuntary moan escape your lips. When it came to Sunday football, you never had been much for the talking heads. Only wanting to tune if for the actual game, you usually found something better to do when Sweet Pea and Fangs sat down to watch the pre-game broadcast. “What would you call what we just did?”
“The pre pre-game show.” Devilish grin on his lips, Sweet Pea effortlessly flipped you under him and opened your eyes to just how enjoyable a Pre-Game show can be.
Can’t wait to kiss you | Sweet Pea imagine
Request: Hi! Could I get a sweet pea imagine? The reader is archie’s sister and fought with him during the bulldogs vs serpents. Sweet pea notices and after she gets injured he feels really bad and in turns into a relationship. Idk I thought this was cute. Thanks xx
You did not want to do this. Your brother had once again made a mess and you had to come help clean it up, this time he had angered the southside serpents and they came and requested a fight. So there they were in the rain ready to fight. The only reason you were doing this was to protect your brother but god if the serpents wouldn’t hurt him you would cause you could kill him at the moment.
You kind of had a thing for the serpent leader Sweet Pea, you thought he was really good looking but right now he was the enemy. The fight began and soon you were fighting a serpent, you could barely see anything because of the rain but you were doing alright, before you saw Archie getting hit, that caught you off guard and you got hit badly, you fell to the ground and you knew that you’d be all bruised the next day. You felt your lip swelling and bleeding and you rose up again. You were mad at Archie for making such a mess and decided to take it out on the serpents. You attacked one and actually threw a few good punches making him stumble backwards. As you were hitting someone another serpent kicked you in your leg and made you fall back to the ground. Your leg was killing you and you were pretty sure you couldn’t get up without help.
Sweet Pea noticed you and made his way over to you ‘’I know I’m supposed to be the enemy but let me help you’’ You nodded and he helped you up. He took you to his motorcycle and sat you down ‘’How about I’ll take you home’’ You nodded clutching your ankle’’ He got on his motorcycle and he got you home. You held on to him tightly since it was your first motorcycle ride but you’d do anything to get away from that fight. He helped you inside and sat you down on the couch ‘’Where’d the medical kit?’’ ‘’Left cabinet, top shelf’’ He grabbed the kit and got back to you, carefully dabbing the cuts on your face. ‘’I’m sorry you got dragged into this mess’’ You whinced at the stinging pain.
‘’Why do you care?’’ He grinned ‘’I don’t know, you intrigued me from the first time I saw you, I didn’t want you to get hurt’’ You smiled and he slowly took of your shoe and sock, checking out your ankle. He rose, made his way to the freezer and grabbed a bag of some frozen vegetables. He quickly got to you again and pushed it against your ankle ‘’Shit that hurts’’ He chuckled ‘’It’s very swollen, so you should probably rest it’’ You nodded ‘’Thanks for anything’’ You touched your lip ‘’I’d kiss you if my lip wasn’t cut’’ Sweet pea looked at you in surprise ‘’Oh really? how about we schedule a raincheck, we hang out when your lip is healed and then we kiss’’ You laughed ‘’Sounds good’’ You handed him your Phone ‘’Put your number in and I’ll call you when my lip heals’’ He grinned and did as you told him.
‘’I should go before your brother gets home and gives me another black eye’’ You laughed ‘’Thanks again’’ ‘’No problem’’ he winked at you. You heard him yell one more thing before he left ‘’Can’t wait to kiss you Andrews’’

Prompt: Day 9- Christmas Cookies
A/N: This is Day 9 from my “A Sweet Pea Fic-mas” challenge that is running December 1 through New Years Eve. This one was a little heavier than I planned but once it started I couldn’t stop. All of my fics are being cross posted to AO 3 as well.

Flour, sugar, vanilla and eggs, grocery staples found in homes all over the world but when you combine all that what comes out is delicious dessert magic. They are party must haves, edible gifts, household holiday decorations and a sweet snack left for a bearded man in a bright red suit. Christmas cookies. They are as much Christmas as the big man himself. It was thanks to them that you found yourself modeling an elf covered apron and santa hat covered head to toe in patches of flour and frosting with your cheeks hurting from smiling.
The local CPS branch along with the women’s shelter in town had asked for volunteers to help with their annual Holly Jolly Holiday fundraiser and you couldn’t in good conscious turn them down. Christmas cookie baking and decorating was one of your all time favorite Christmas traditions, so when the offer to work the decorating station had been suggested you jumped at the chance.
With the help of Toni and Cheryl, you had mixed, rolled, baked and brought with you hundreds of holiday themed Christmas cookies. Jumping between tables, the three of you helped kids decorate bell, snowmen, santas, trees, and snowflakes while Sweet Pea and Fangs guarded the sugary creations for the little ones until they were ready to leave.
“I’m going to make my snowman have a blue scarf!”
The little girl beside you, who you had learned was named Hannah, couldn’t be much older than five. Missing a front tooth and sporting a sweater a few sizes too big, you’d never believe her misfortunes based on the smile spread across her face.
“I think that will look great. Let’s roll these sleeves up, don’t want to get frosting on this beautiful Christmas sweater”. Before she could crawl her way across the table top for the frosting, you rolled the to long sleeves past her little hands to rest right above her elbows. At least this way you were attempting to make laundry easier on the adult that would tote the little ball of energy home.
“Amy said I could wear this sweater since I didn’t have my own Christmas one.”
“That was nice of Amy.” Tongue peeking from the side of her lips, you watched as blue frosting coated half the cookie. Maybe it was more of a snowsuit than a scarf.
“Amy is fun. More fun than my last mom. She made sure I gots my own bed and everything.” Reaching across the table, the little girl snagged the red frosting and proceeded to fill the remaining bottom of the cookie.
“I remember when I got my first big girl bed. That is an exciting day.” Your heart broke a little for the child, you just wanted to take them all home with you. Your life hadn’t been all sunshine and rainbows growing up, but at least you’d been able to say you had never had to share a bed.
“I wants the snowman to have a smile but I can’t do it right. Can you help?” Handing the container of black frosting to you, she looked up with doe like blue eyes.
“Of course I can. One button nose, two eyes of coal and a bright smile.” A brightly colored, smiling snowman looked back at the two of you, a squeal of excitement coming from the small frame that seemed to vibrate on the bench. “Let’s take this over to rest and you can come back to get it when you are ready to leave.”
Grabbing the plate in one hand and your’s in the other, your new found friend tugged you along to where Sweet Pea and Fangs were standing guard.
Coming around to the front of the table, Sweet Pea couldn’t help but smile at the image of you being toted around by a five year old. It sent a shock through his system that seeing this didn’t send a tremor of terror through him, but instead a feeling of longing. Putting himself down to her level, Sweet Pea held out his hands as the little blue eyed girl handed him her creation. “That’s a beautiful looking cookie you’ve got where. Would you like us to keep it safe for a while?”
Dropping her hold on you, Hannah put her full attention on the dark haired serpent. “You have to promise not to eat it.”
“I promise.” It took everything in him not to laugh at the serious expression that crossed the girls features as she studied him, as if trying to decide if he was trustworthy enough to leave with her cookie.
Holding up her small pinky, she shoved it towards Sweet Pea. “Pinky promise?”
Grinning, Sweet Pea wrapped his much larger one around hers. It shocked him how fragile it felt in his grasp. “I pinky promise.”
Seemingly satisfied the tall man wasn’t going to eat her cookie, Hannah hugged your legs tight and gave you the biggest toothy smile she could manage before running off towards a blonde haired lady talking with some of the staff from the shelter. It warmed your heart as you watched the blonde hug Hannah close to her side, ending her conversation with the adults and letting herself be towed towards the line for Santa. You hoped with all of your heart that this home stuck for the little girl.
Sweet Pea pulled you against his chest, nose nuzzling the column of your neck as your attention stayed on the group of kids. You smelled as sweet as he knew the frosting you’d made tasted. Following your line of sight, his hold on you tightened as he felt the shaky breaths you were taking. It wasn’t lost on him how close the lot of you had been to being in the same shoes as these kids, the only difference being that you all had found a stand in family while they had nothing. “It’ll work out for her.”
Throat tightening slightly, you could only nod. You both knew the odds for the kids in the system, all you could do was hope that little ball of adorable energy could beat them. Sweet Pea turned you in his hold, warm dark eyes taking in your pinched features. “We didn’t volunteer at this thing so you could get all teary eyed.” Tattooed thumb caressing your cheek, Sweet Pea wiped away a stray tear.
“I know, I know.” Doing your best to collect yourself, you gave Sweet Pea a watery smile. “How bout I make up a couple of the best decorated cookies I can muster for you and Fangs. It’s not fair you have to sit here and just look at them all day.”
Bringing your lips down to meet yours, Sweet Pea fitted you against him as if it was the only place you would fit. “I think that sounds like a great idea.”
I’m in Love with a Girl I Hate - Riverdale
Summary: Y/n and Sweet Pea don’t get along, and the whole crew is about to find out why.
A/n: I just finished my first semester of grad school, and I’ve gotten an A on 2/3 of my classes this semester. So, here’s a little something to celebrate. I might turn this into a series?
WC: 4681
Y/n’s POV
Growing up on the Southside of Riverdale when you weren’t a serpent’s kid was a little strange. Even as a kid, you were aware of all the secrecy, all the things the other kids understood that you couldn’t. Being Toni’s cousin has its perks; though, and you weren’t completely out of the loop. When you were younger, in elementary school, your house was the go-to hang out spot because your parents were actually home to watch you and your friends. Even now, Toni and Fangs spent a ton of time at your place, especially on Tuesday nights when your dad made his famous taco bar spread, complete with beef and chicken, three types of cheese, sautéed veggies, and his homemade salsa and guacamole. Your mouth was already watering as you walked up to them both standing in front of Sweet Pea.
“Come on, man,” Fangs said to him. “Put your differences aside for one night and join us for dinner like you used to.”
“Fangs, I only ever went because my mom made me, and she’s not here to do that now. So, I’ll just see you at the Wyrm later.”
With that, Sweet Pea left, brushing your shoulder as he passed.
“Why do you even try anymore, Fangs?” you asked him. “Pea and I have never gotten along.”
“I don’t know why,” Fangs mumbled, opening his locker. “You two have more in common than you think.”
“That’s probably why.” Toni cut in. “Sweet Pea probably can’t stand that y/n can read him like a book.”
“Still,” Fangs said with a nod. “it would probably be good for him to have someone that understands him that well in his life.”
“Are you kidding me?” You asked. “We would drive each other insane.”
Toni and Fangs just looked at each other and smiled as you walked to your first class, English, in which you had a pop quiz. After class, Fangs followed you and Toni out of class, complaining.
“That pop quiz was so brutal,” he said as Sweet Pea fell into step next to him after leaving his class across the hall. “Like, how am I supposed to remember which of the main character’s family members wasn’t in the dream he had at the end of the first chapter?”
“His mom.” You and Sweet Pea answered at the same time.
“Okay. That was creepy,” Fangs said as you and Pea eyed one another.
“Glad to know I shouldn’t have a problem with that quiz when I have to take it later today.” Sweet Pea said stopping at his locker.
Toni and Fangs stopped on either side of him while you kept walking, leaving them with little more than a nod and a wave. Just before you were out of earshot, you overheard Sweet Pea warning Fangs about not asking him to join you for dinner at your house again, and you just shook your head. Fangs was right about you and Pea having some things in common, at least. You were both stubborn as hell, and you were pretty prideful too. That’s why, at the beginning of high school, when Sweet Pea had decided that he didn’t like you anymore, you never fought back. If he wasn’t going to give you the time of day, you weren’t going to give him any satisfaction by showing any emotion about it. After a while, it stopped hurting your ego anyway.
Sure, you and Sweet Pea both hung out with Fangs and Toni, and you interacted with each other when absolutely necessary, usually only to criticize one another, but you didn’t really know each other that well. That’s why you were so confused when he was waiting for you outside your class after the bell without Toni or Fangs flanking him. Honestly, you thought for a moment that he was waiting for someone else, but you were convinced otherwise when he reached out for your shoulder and turned you around as you walked past him.
“Hey, y/n, wait,” he said as you turned to face him.
“Oh? Do we actually talk to each other now?”
“Look, I’m just here to do you a favor,” Sweet Pea said, holding his hands up with his palms facing you.
“What could you possibly do for me?” you cut him off.
“If you would fucking let me finish a sentence for once, I could tell you,” he bit back.
You crossed your arms over your chest in response nodding at him to continue.
“Mantle said something at practice the other day about planning some big thing to ask you to the homecoming dance, and I know you hate shit like that. He’s in the rec room setting shit up now, so steer clear, I guess.”
“Oh, um, thanks, Sweet Pea,” you said rubbing the back of your neck. “That’s actually really nice.”
“Yeah. Whatever,” he said looking down at his feet.
You adjusted your back pack on your shoulder and headed straight for the rec room.
“Did you not listen to a thing I just said?” Sweet Pea called after you.
“I got this!” you shouted over your shoulder, not turning around to see him let out a huge sigh.
You marched into the rec room to see Reggie and some of his jock friends hanging a huge banner on the wall. You leaned on the doorframe and cleared your throat loudly, causing the boys to whip their heads around to look at you. Reggie tried to jump in front of the banner, barely even covering up your name.
“Y/n!” he shouted, “You’re supposed to be at lunch.”
“Yeah, I was going to go until someone told me that you were in here doing all this,” you said waving your hand at the banner.
“Who told you?”
“Doesn’t matter,” you said, walking fully into the rec room. “Look, Reggie, I really hate big displays like this.”
His face started to fall as you spoke, and his buddies let the end of the banner that hadn’t yet been taped to the wall slip.
“But,” you continued, “I would love to go to the homecoming dance with you.”
A smile spread across Reggie’s face, and you leaned against the back of the couch next to you. He closed the distance between the two of you, placing his hands on the back of the couch on either side of you. You could feel his breath on your cheeks as he leaned toward you.
“Really?” he asked.
You nodded, placing your right hand on his shoulder as you bit your lip before laying a soft kiss on his lips. Reggie smiled against your lips as he placed a hand on your hip and pulled you closer to him. You and Reggie had hooked up a few times at some parties, but you had never kissed each other sober let alone in a room full of his teammates. A couple of the guys let out hollers as he deepened the kiss and you grabbed at his hair with your fingers. From the doorway, you heard Toni let out an “aww” that caused you to pull away from Reggie. She stood leaning in the door way with Fangs and Sweet Pea behind her.
“Gross,” Sweet Pea said before turning and walking away toward the cafeteria.
You rolled your eyes at him as Toni and Fangs walked up to you. Fangs clapped Reggie on the shoulder and gave him a nod while Toni pulled you into a hug and squealed. You laughed as she gushed about how she was waiting for you and Reggie to get past the drunk hookup stage of your relationship. Reggie smiled and put his arm around your shoulder.
“I think we have enough time to dip and go to Pop’s for lunch since I don’t have to set up all this shit anymore,” Reggie said to you.
You nodded and waved at Fangs and Toni as you and Reggie walked out to the parking lot.
Sweet Pea’s POV
“Where’s y/n?” I asked as Toni and Fangs sat down at the lunch table.
“She and Reggie went to Pop’s instead,” Toni replied with a smile.
“He’s one lucky son of a bitch,” I said, causing Toni and Fangs to raise their eyebrows at me.
“Oh, yeah?” Fangs asked.
“I mean he’s lucky he got away with pulling something like that and y/n still saying she’d go to the dance with him. Don’t go imagining things that aren’t there, Fangs.”
“She would’ve said yes either way. They have been hooking up for a while now,” Toni said.
“Really?”
“Yeah, you’d know that if you didn’t boycott every activity involving y/n,” Fangs snapped.
“Like you really want the two of us arguing at a party,” I scoffed. “I just wouldn’t have pegged Reggie as y/n’s type, to be honest.”
“And what would you think y/n’s type is, Sweet Pea?” Toni asked.
“Tall, dark, and Serpent perhaps?” Fangs added.
I rolled my eyes and took a bite of my sandwich, shaking my head ‘no.
“Sure,” Toni said, “go ahead and avoid the question by stuffing your face.”
Toni and Fangs spent the rest of lunch pushing the issue, suggesting that I had some sort of secret feelings for y/n.
“Come on, Sweets,” Toni said, “Don’t you remember when we were like six and y/n broke her arm while we were climbing around the rocks by Sweet Water River?”
“Yeah. She slipped on a rock. So what?”
“So she didn’t shed a tear, and you cried the whole way to the hospital because, and I quote ‘My best friend’s arm is going to fall off,’” Fangs jumped in, whining as he mocked little Sweet Pea’s crying.
“And,” Toni added, “You carried her teddy bear around her for over a month until she got her cast off.”
“Then there was the time we had to act out ‘The Princess and the Frog’ in class, and you threw a full on fit because you thought you were going to have to kiss y/n,” Fangs said.
“That doesn’t sound like it helps prove your point,” I said with a smirk.
“You weren’t upset because you didn’t want to kiss her. You were upset because you wanted to save your first kiss with y/n until your wedding,” Toni reminded him.
“That definitely sounds like a lie,” I said.
“It’s not. You also punched Jimmy Smith in the gut in fourth grade because he told you y/n was too pretty for you.”
“Because no one is ‘too pretty’ for me,” I spat placing air quotes around the words “too pretty.”
“No one?” Fangs questioned.
“Okay, maybe Heidi Klum,” I mumbled.
Toni and Fangs continued to list off every childhood memory they could think of to prove their point that I, at some point in life, had feelings for y/n. There were still fifteen minutes left of lunch by the time I got up and walked out of the cafeteria, having heard enough. I went to my locker and grabbed the books I needed to do my homework, deciding I was just going to skip the rest of the day. The front doors to the school flew open just as I was about to push them, and y/n and Reggie came through laughing and carrying milkshakes. I slid to the side to keep from running right into y/n and knocking her milkshake to the ground.
“Oops. Sorry, Pea,” she said looking up at me and slipping through the door.
The way she looked up at me through her bangs had me reliving each story Fangs and Toni had just brought up before I remembered one of my own. The one where y/n looked up at me in exactly the same way after both our names had been drawn to play Seven Minutes in Heaven during our first high school party. “I’m sorry, Sweets. I- I can’t,” she had whispered. I stood in the middle of the room with everyone staring at me as I watched her walk out the door. That was the last night I could remember us being friends. I pushed past her and Reggie with a wave of my hand and stormed through the parking lot toward my bike.
“Did he look mad to you?” Reggie asked y/n.
“Honestly, when does he not?” she asked.
Y/n’s POV
You and Reggie walked into the rec room hand in hand and sat on the couch next to Fangs. Toni and Cheryl sat together on the chair next to the couch, looking at something on Cheryl’s phone and laughing.
“Hey,” you said. “Did something happen at lunch? Sweet Pea looked kind of pissed when we passed him coming in from the parking lot.”
Toni and Fangs looked at one another with wide eyes.
“He left before free period? You don’t think we took it too far, do you?” Fangs asked Toni.
“I mean, anything is possible,” Toni shrugged.
“Took what too far?” Reggie asked, leaning forward and taking another sip of his milkshake.
Toni and Fangs looked at you, then at each other, and back a few times before they started muttering and speaking over one another. You, Cheryl, and Reggie just exchanged confused glances as you tried to decipher what they were saying. It proved to be of little use because all you could here were a series of ums and wells between long, quick sentences run together so haphazardly that it sounded like they were speaking another language.
“Wait,” Cheryl commanded. “Slow down and speak one at a time. TT, you start.”
“Well, um, Fangs and I were just giving Sweet Pea a hard time at lunch is all.”
“A hard time about what?” you asked, sighing and thinking you were pretty sure you already knew the answer.
“We, um, well, we may or may not have listed all the reasons we think he has feelings for y/n,” Fangs confessed.
Reggie choked on his milkshake and sat up straight with wide eyes. He continued to cough as you rubbed his back and shot Fangs a look.
“Exactly how many reasons are there?” Reggie asked between coughs.
“Well, we started with the time y/n broke her arm on the rocks by Sweet Water River,” Fangs said.
“Dude! We were six,” you replied.
“But he carried your teddy bear around for you for like a month!” Fangs defended, “Then we talked about the princess and the frog fiasco.”
“The what fiasco?” Reggie asked, causing you to turn to him and place your hand on his knee as you explained.
“I’m not exactly sure how they think that proves their point, though,” you said rolling your eyes.
“Well, there’s another detail you don’t know about, y/n,” Toni mumbled.
“Which would be?”
Your cousin looked down at her hands and picked at her nails. You looked over at Fangs with an eyebrow raised, but he was avoiding eye contact with you too. Toni spoke up after you leaned back in your seat and crossed your arms over your chest,
“The reason Sweet Pea was so upset about the thought of kissing you is because he wanted to save his first kiss with you until your wedding.”
“What the hell, T?” you asked, unable to hold back your laughter as you spoke, “What does that prove? We were in the first grade! That’s the most ridiculous-”
“Hold up,” Reggie cut in, “Sweet Pea said he was going to marry y/n?”
“Reggie, we were in the first grade. Kids talk about that shit all the time like they even know what it means,” you shot back.
“Sweet Pea?” he asked again.
“Yeah,” Fangs said, “then he swore me and Toni to secrecy.”
“I’m not saying Sweet Pea and I are close or anything. Really, we just play basketball together, but I know for a fact marriage is one thing the dude takes seriously.”
“And how would you know that?” you asked.
“Well, we have this tradition for initiating new team members where we get them really drunk and ask a bunch of super personal, embarrassing questions.”
“If Pea was drunk, you can’t trust a word he said,” you, Toni, and Fangs said in unison.
“That’s the thing,” Reggie continued, “Sweet Pea was the only new guy who wasn’t drunk. He told us all it should’ve been enough that he came to the initiation bull shit in the first place considering there was quote “no way in hell” it was tougher then his Serpent initiation had been.”
“Sounds about right,” Fangs muttered.
“Anyway, he about beat the shit out of Chad when he said the worst thing he ever did was propose to his girlfriend in front of all her friends as part of a prank. I’m talking slammed the dude against the wall and went straight for his neck while screaming about how that’s one thing a man should never joke about. When we finally pried Sweet Pea off him all he said was that playing with someone else’s emotions like that wasn’t cool, that it wasn’t okay to build up a person’s trust like that and then embarrass them in front of all their friends.”
The room fell silent, and somehow you knew you were the only one who could break it.
“I don’t think that has anything to do with me, though. Sweet Pea and I haven’t been friends for like two and a half years, way before we even came to Riverdale High,” you said. “And even if he did have a crush on me in the first grade, I don’t think he would’ve held onto that until now. Trust me, he hates me now.”
“But do you hate him?” Cheryl asked.
“That’s a good question,” Reggie said turning to you, “I know you pretty well, and from what I’m hearing, it sounds like you and Sweet Pea have a long history with each other.”
“We grew up in the same place. My mom used to watch all the kids in the neighborhood.”
“He’s right, y/n,” Toni said. “You’re not the kind of person to just give up on someone. It’s like one day you and Sweet Pea were super close, and the next, it was like you two barely knew each other.”
“You’ll have to ask him about that. I just went along with it, I guess.”
“Why?”
“Well, because he was mad at me, and I didn’t know how to make him not be mad anymore,” you admitted.
“Do you know why he was mad at you?”
“No,” you said, thinking about the last time you really talked to Sweet Pea. There was a sense of guilt you weren’t quite able to place.
“When did you stop being friends?” Reggie asked.
“It was like the beginning of freshman year,” you said, “right after- Oh shit.”
“Right after what?”
“Right after our first high school party. Toni and Fangs couldn’t go, so I begged Sweet Pea to come with me, and I um, I kind of left him there.”
Your voice started to trail off at the end of the sentence as you finally remembered exactly what had happened that night.
“Wait. Shit. I remember that,” Fangs said. “He came to my house after you left. He was pissed.”
“I’d be pissed too,” you admitted, “if my best friend left me at a party where I barely knew anyone because she was too afraid to tell me she had accidentally gotten really drunk.”
“You accidentally got drunk?” Reggie asked.
“Oh, shut up! It was my first party ever. I had no idea what I was doing, and I got drunk. Then, I got embarrassed about being drunk, and my anxiety made me feel like I was definitely going to puke, so I ran outside. Some junior girls outside said that the best way to avoid throwing up was to keep drinking, and I think I blacked out. God, I probably seemed like a total bitch the next day because I had no idea what happened.”
You put your empty milkshake cup on the table in font of you and laid your head on your knees, wrapping you arms around it to try and hide from the room full of people who were looking at you. When you finally looked up again a couple minutes later, Fangs was biting at his nails.
“Why are you doing that?” you asked him, knowing it was something he did only when he was really nervous or uncomfortable.
“You still don’t have the whole story, y/n,” he said. “Sweet Pea came to me house fuming because you had ditched him right after Jessica pulled both your names to play Seven Minutes in Heaven.”
Your face quickly turned bright red as the memory hit you like a ton of bricks.
“Okay, now even I’m convinced that Sweet Pea has feelings for y/n,” Reggie said sadly, looking you in the eye, “The poor dude probably thought you left because you didn’t want to kiss him.”
“That’s exactly what he thought,” a voice called from the doorway to the rec room.
It was Sweet Pea’s. Everyone slowly turned their head to look at him, all their cheeks blushing in either embarrassment or nervousness. You and Sweet Pea locked eyes over Reggie’s head, and your started to water. You were feeling a rush of guilt, embarrassment, apology, and pain. The mix of emotions bubbled up in your chest and started to push the air our of your throat. Legs shaking, you stood up and made your way across the room, stopping in front of Sweet Pea and looking up at him.
“I- I’m sorry, Sweets,” you whispered choking on your breath, “I can’t.”
Tears started pouring down your cheeks as your whole body started to jitter. You crossed your arms over your stomach as you started wheezing. The sound of your lungs struggling to suck in air in short bursts overwhelmed the room, and you suddenly realized that everyone was staring at you with concern. Without thinking, you bolted from the rec room, ran across the hall, and locked yourself in a dark, empty classroom. As you slid down with your back against the door and curled into yourself, you heard Toni call out, “Shit! She’s having an anxiety attack.”
The sounds of your friends shuffling across the hall covered the click of the second door to the classroom closing a few feet to your left after Sweet Pea had slipped inside. He waved them away through the window before sitting cross legged on the floor in front of you. Outside the door, Toni, Cheryl, Fangs, and Reggie walked back into the rec room. Once he sat back down on the couch, Reggie pulled out his phone to text Sweet Pea. The message read: Go for it. I won’t be mad.
Sweet Pea’s POV
My phone buzzed just as I took it out of my pocket. I glanced at a message from Reggie on the lit-up screen and rolled my eyes. I clicked the lock button and set it down beside me as I reached out for y/n. With a low chuckle, I tapped my knuckles on her shin as if I were knocking on a door. She pulled her feet toward her and folded her legs like mine, looking up at me and wiping her eyes. I scooted toward her and placed my hands on her knees; her body was still shaking.
“Shhh,” I whispered, “You have more of a reason to be mad at me than I do to be mad at you.”
“I’m such a,” she choked out, “such a bitch.”
“No, you’re not,” I whispered, shifting to sit next to her and pull her into my chest. “You didn’t know what happened, and instead of talking to you about it, I’ve spent the past two years being mad at you, being mean to you.”
“But I hurt you,” y/n cried into my chest, her shaking beginning to subside as I ran my hand up and down her arm and rocked us back and forth. “I was a shitty friend, and I hurt you. And I didn’t even know it.”
“You didn’t hurt me any more than I hurt myself by not saying anything,” I said honestly. “I’m sorry, y/n. I should’ve just talked to you instead of throwing our entire friendship away.”
“I would’ve done the same thing. Actually, I kind of did. I never talked to you either. I just assumed you hated me.”
“I’ve never hated you, y/n,” I said feeling a heat rise in my chest. If I could’ve stepped out of my body and kicked my own ass in that moment, I would have. “I was just-“
“Hurt?”
“Yeah, I was hurt, and I didn’t handle it well. I’m really sorry. Honestly, it’s probably the stupidest thing I’ve ever done, and that’s saying something because I shot an arrow through Toni’s tent last week just for shits and gigs.”
Y/n sat up and wiped her eyes as he laughed at me. I moved my arms from around her and folded my hands in my lap.
“I’m sorry too.”
“It’s fine. We can talk about it more later if you want, but I think you should go tell the rest of your friends that everything is ok.”
Y/n paused for a second and looked down at her hands.
“They’re still,” she whispered. “How did you?”
“You used to have anxiety attacks all the time when we were kids. If I could get you talking through it, they usually ended pretty fast.”
“I did? I don’t remember.”
“Yeah, you did,” I nodded. “Now go let everyone else know you’re good.”
I watched as y/n walked into the rec room, stopping in the middle of the hallway to wipe her eyes one last time. She walked quietly into the room and sat down next to Reggie, placing her head on his shoulder. His gaze snapped to me as I turned to leave.
“Where are you going?” he asked as the bell rang.
“It’s the end of free period,” I said, “I’m going home.”
“Why did you come back?”
“I forgot I was going to have a pop quiz in English today. I told Mr. Thomas I had a doctor’s appointment and asked if I could take it early and still get credit.”
“Why did you stop here?”
“I heard Fangs loud ass telling all my secrets and was gonna kick his ass,” I shrugged. “Timing, I guess.”
“Are you still gonna-” Fangs started, but Reggie interrupted him.
“Did you get my text?”
“Doesn’t matter, dude.”
“Yes, it does,” Reggie said, getting up off the couch next to y/n.
I started walking away, hoping Reggie would just leave it, but he jogged in front of me and cut me off before I could turn the corner. I could see everyone else spilling out of the rec room and weaving through the sea of students trying to get to their next class. Fangs craned his neck above the crowd, trying to focus in on the conversation Reggie and I were having.
“I told you I wouldn’t be mad,” Reggie said.
“I know,” I said, crossing my arms over my chest.
“So you did read my text.”
“Yeah, and?”
“And I’m serious, man.”
“Don’t worry about it,” I said right as the warning bell rang and the halls cleared out again, allowing Toni, Cheryl, Fangs, and y/n to come up behind Reggie.
When he looked over his shoulder at them, I took the opportunity to step out of his blockade and start heading for the door again.
“You and y/n clearly have feelings for one another, and I’m not going to be the one that gets in the way of that,” Reggie called after me.
“You already asked her to homecoming, bro. She likes you. Have fun,” I called back before walking out the front door of the school.
I heard running behind me as I approached my bike. Turning, ready to yell in Reggie’s face to back off, I locked eyes with a much smaller figure.
“You didn’t deny it,” y/n said, stepping toward me.
Crushes and pranks

Summary: Sweet pea and fangs have the perfect idea to find out if y/n really likes sweet pea; to read her journal. But when y/n gets an idea of her own, how long will sweet pea go before he realizes the truth?
A/n: We just gonna pretend he’s got bright orange hair in that gif, k?
“But how do I know if she likes me?” Sweet pea asked fangs for the tenth time. Let’s get one thing straight. Sweet pea had been crushing on y/n for ages and she knew it. She just wanted him to make the first move.
“She gives you heart eyes. She’s like head over heels for you, man. I can tell.” Fangs said as they watched y/n and Toni play a game of pool. “How about you do something romantic for her?”
The two boys thought that y/n couldn’t hear them from across the bar. But little did they know that she did and so did Toni. Toni knew all about y/n’s feelings for her best friend.
“What do you mean by romantic?”
Sweet pea and y/n had known each other for practically their whole lives. Everyone expected them to start dating sooner or later. Y/n was getting tired of waiting for sweet pea to ask her out. But since they were already best friends, that meant that they knew everything about each other, especially the fact that y/n kept a diary.
“She’s gotta have something about you in her diary. What if I keep her busy tomorrow night and you sneak over to her house and see what you can find?” Fangs suggested.
Y/n’s diary was her most prized possession. She never let anyone read it, most certainly not sweet pea. Sweet pea begged y/n to let him read it all the time, but she would always hide it away when he came over.
Sweet pea and y/n were always teasing and fooling around with each other, playing jokes and seeing who could get caught up in the latest prank. So y/n had the perfect idea in mind.
Y/n said goodnight to her friends as she left with Toni and went back to y/n’s trailer. She and Toni sat down in the living room until y/n grabbed an empty notebook out of a storage bin, along with her favourite pen.
“What’s this all about?” Toni asked, surprised that y/n had her diary out in front of her.
“You heard what fangs said.” Y/n laughed. “What do you think I’m doing?”
And so y/n explained her whole plan. She and Toni squished together on the couch as Toni suggested tons of things to put in her diary. The two of them couldn’t stop laughing, just hoping that sweet pea would fall for her little plan.
///
The next night, fangs called y/n asking her to meet him for a round of pool and maybe head to pop’s later. Of course y/n said yes. She put on her serpent jacket and left her fake diary right on top of the coffee table for sweet pea to see as soon as he walked through her door.
Sweet pea watched y/n leave her trailer from his window. As soon as she got on her bike and was out of sight, sweet pea ran over to her trailer, trying not to be seen. Not that anyone would care but part of sweet pea did feel guilty for going into y/n’s place when she wasn’t there.
Sweet pea closed the door behind himself and looked around outside, making sure no one had seen him. Before he even had a chance to really look, his eyes went straight to the coffee table. Y/n had actually left her diary out. Things couldn’t go better than this.
He ran over and snatched it in his two hands, not bothering to sit down as he flicked through the pages, starting from the very first page. He took in every word as weird as they were, making sure not to forget a single thing.
///
Y/n and fangs sat opposite of each other at pop’s. Y/n had enough of keeping it in. She had to tell Fangs. She knew that sweet pea was at her place right this moment. Y/n told fangs that she knew about their plan, but then she told him what she and Toni did last night.
“You can’t tell him. I want to see how far he goes.” Y/n said.
Fangs laughed so hard he clutched his stomach. He high fived y/n from across the table, wiping away a few tears from us eyes. It was moments like this that he absolutely loved y/n.
“So what do you say? Shall we text sweet pea to come join us?” Fangs smiled, getting out his phone and texting sweet pea. Sweet pea replied in an instant, fangs showing the message to y/n.
Sweet pea: Y/n is into some really weird shit.
“Here,” y/n said, snatching the phone out of his hand. “I hear,” y/n said as she typed a message to him. “That she loves boys who have lip rings. Best of luck.”
Fangs took a sip of his shake and nearly spit it out everywhere. This was probably the best prank y/n had ever pulled.
///
Sweet pea ran to the store and bought a pack of fake lip rings. He didn’t have time to get a real one since he said he’d be meeting fangs in twenty minutes. But as soon as he read y/n’s diary, he went straight to the store and bought bright orange hair dye and self tan.
He brought the things back to his house, not being able to wait for when y/n seen him. If she loved him, she’d be even more in love with him now, even if he did kind of look like a fool. Sweet pea bleached his hair and went ahead with the bright orange hair dye. He looked like a pumpkin.
Then he went ahead with the fake tan. Sweet pea didn’t expect ladies self tan to work on him, but y/n wrote all about how she loves boys who use a lot of self tan, almost with a orange complexion. So sweet pea picked up three bottles and wiped it on.
Once it dried and he looked in the mirror, he nearly blinded himself. He was so fucking orange. But y/n liked things orange apparently so the last thing to do was put on his lip ring.
Fangs: i’m still with y/n. Picked her brain a bit and said her number one thing in a guy is eyeliner!! I’d say it’s best to look like a raccoon. She’ll be asking you out in no time.
Sweet pea rolled his eyes. He had to get to the diner soon or y/n would start suspecting things. So on his way there, he stopped in the corner store and grabbed a black eyeliner with a fat numb at the bottom. As soon as sweet pea purchased it, he went straight to their washroom in the back and drew thick black circles around his eyes.
Perfect. Sweet pea thought. He was about to go earn himself the perfect girlfriend.
///
Fangs kept watching the door swing open, so eager for sweet pea to arrive. Y/n was back onto the door when she noticed fangs looking like he was going to pee his pants. “Here comes Prince Charming.” He said, trying his best to conceal his laughter.
Everyone in the diner stared at sweet pea. He looked like a clown with his bright orange hair and too much fake tan, plus his full tube of eyeliner he used that caked his face around his eyes.
Y/n took a sip of her shake to stop herself from laughing and bit down on the straw. Sweet pea slid in right next to Fangs, neither one of them knowing what to say about sweet pea.
“Hi y/n.” Sweet pea smiled.
There was so much eyeliner around his eyes that y/n could barely pick out his coffee coloured eyes. A thin silver ring came out of the middle of his bottom lip.
“I love your hair.” Y/n lied. “I had no idea you were getting it done.”
Sweet pea shrugged. “I thought it was time for a change.”
Fangs tried his best not to even look at sweet pea. He didn’t want to blow y/n’s cover. Thankfully y/n was an amazing actress and kept going on about how much she loved sweet peas new look.
Y/n tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and looked down at the table for a second and then back up at sweet pea. Sweet pea knew that this was a good sign. Y/n looked nervous as hell with a little smile on her face. All girls did that when they liked someone.
“I think I’m going to head home now.” Y/n said. “Change into my pyjamas, write in my diary…” she trailed off. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” She added, biting her lip and looking at sweet pea seductively as she grabbed her jacket and slowly walked out, shooting sweet pea one last look.
Sweet pea and fangs watched y/n drive away on her bike. Sweet pea was full of questions, asking Fangs if he thought it had worked or not. “You have to distract her again tomorrow morning. i need to know what she thought of me.”
“Hey dude,” Fangs said, putting his hand on sweet peas shoulder. “Whatever it takes.”
///
Fangs, toni and y/n were at pop’s the next morning all eating breakfast as they were waiting to hear from sweet pea again. As soon as sweet pea told fangs he needed to read her journal again, fangs texted y/n immediately, telling her to write something down.
Y/n had done enough damage to sweet pea’s pretty face. Even though it hadn’t even been a full twenty four hours, she needed to tell the truth. Last night when she got home, she flipped open her diary and wrote an explanation.
Sweet pea woke up and smeared more eyeliner around his eyes. Sweet pea never knew how hard it was to get makeup off before yesterday. He looked at himself in the mirror, almost forgetting his lip ring. He slid it perfectly into place and walked out the door, heading to y/n’s trailer.
Fangs was amazing in moments like this. Sweet pea knew he could always count on him. Sweet pea found y/n’s journal in the same place as it was yesterday and flipped it open to the next page.
///
“Looks like someone found out.” Fangs said, making everyone look out the window. The three of them sat in the same spot as yesterday, with Toni sitting outside of y/n. Sweet pea practically matched through the parking lot, looking like he was going to murder whoever got in his way.
Sweet pea walked over to his friends, holding y/n’s fake journal in his hands. He held it open, reading from the pages.
“Oh sweet pea, you dumbass little fuck. Did you really think I was telling the truth? Me, fangs and Toni made all that shit up and you believed it. Ps, you look like a pumpkin took a shit on you.” Sweet pea finished, slamming the book shut. “Are you kidding me right now?”
Y/n, fangs and Toni died of laughter. They could barely catch their breaths, let alone get a word in.
“I know you like me,” y/n laughed. “I just wanted you to make the first move.”
Sweet pea was too mad to realize what y/n had just said. She liked him too, but his mind was on how he was supposed to wash all the orange off his body, get his hair back to normal.
“Well Thank god this is fake,” Sweet pea spat, yanking the lip ring off onto the floor.
“Please tell me that orange hair is just a wig.” Toni laughed.
“A wig?” Sweet pea whispered, bending down. “You think this is a wig, topaz?” He said, inches from her face. “I look like-”
“You look like Kim possible.” Fangs cracked up. “Orange hair, black shirt, black boots, weird cargo pants that y/n also said she liked.”
“That’s who he reminds me of!” Toni agreed.
Sweet pea just stood at the end of the table, trying to find the right words to say. He was beyond pissed off. Normally he’d smile around y/n but now his resting bitch face was in full action mode.
“You know sweet pea,” y/n finally spoke up. “I’d be really turned on right now if you didn’t look like a carrot.”
“That’s it,” Sweet pea snapped as he reached over Toni. Y/n ducked under the table and went out the other side, running out of the diner wit sweet pea chasing after her.
Fangs and Toni watched them from the window. Sweet pea wrapped his arms around y/n and turned her around, the two of them kissing. Sweet pea pulled back, the two of them with mirror images on their faces.
“I just had my first kiss with pumpkin face!” Y/n shouted to fangs and Toni from the parking lot, a huge smile on her face. Sweet pea flipped fangs and Toni off with both of his fingers and put his hand on y/n’s back, the two of them walking away with each other.
“So, How about a movie tonight, just the two of us?” Sweet pea asked.
“Debatable.” Y/n sighed. “Maybe get yourself back to normal and I’ll say yes.”
“I hate you, you know that?”
“I hate you too.” Sweet pea kissed her once again, never wanting the feeling to end.
The serpent princess

Summary: Sweet pea falls for the cute girl he lays eyes on at Jughead’s trailer. Later does he find out that y/n is no other than Jughead’s sister.
A/n: f/f = favourite flavour, f/m = favourite meal
Sweet pea and jughead walked back to his trailer after a serpent meeting to work on their school project. Lately they had been faced with so much work. Even though at southside high they didn’t really care about what you did, jughead wanted still wanted good grades and sweet pea wanted to get out of riverdale. The only way of doing that was getting this project done. Jughead never would have been sweet pea’s first pick for a project partner but at least he didn’t get paired with someone he hated even more.
Jughead opened the door to his trailer with sweet pea coming in right behind him. It was the first time that Sweet pea had been to jughead’s place even though they both lived in sunnyside trailer park. But since they were only newly friends, sweet pea didn’t know too much about jughead except for his dad was serpent royalty.
The first thing sweet pea really noticed wasn’t that jughead’s trailer was laid out identailly to sweet pea’s with old vintage couches and miscellaneous beer bottles lined up on the floor, but rather the girl lying down on one of the couches asleep.
Despite the fact that she was asleep during the middle of the afternoon, she still wore a pair of converse and jeans, her plain shirt hanging off her frame with a red flannel tied around her waist like jughead wore. She had h/c hair, a few strands falling on her face but still looked absolutely perfect.
“Who’s that?” Sweet pea asks as jughead gets them some drinks from the fridge.
“Y/n. She’s my-”
Y/n sprung to her feet with a groan like she was just waiting for jughead to say her name. She flicked her hair out of her face and straightened herself up, tightening the flannel around her waist.
“And you must be sweet pea.” Y/n said, offering him a smile. He was ridiculously good looking. His coffee brown eyes were beautiful along with his raven black hair. The tiny serpent tattoo stamped on his neck gave him away to y/n. So he really was the infamous sweet pea.
Y/n being serpent royalty along with jughead never got the same exposure to the gang as jughead did. No way was her father ever going to let her join, so it’s not like she even knew any of them. But jughead always rambled on about what a dumbass this one fucker was and here he was, staring right at her.
“Nice to meet you.” Y/n smiled again, holding out her hand to his. A blush crept up on his cheeks, one so bright that it was impossible for y/n to notice. Jughead took some snacks out of the cupboards and laid them in the middle of the table, along with a few handouts and a guidelines sheet of what they had to do for their project.
Sweet pea took a seat in the living room where y/n followed him back and sat down next to him while she waited for jughead to kick her out so he could get some work done. Sweet pea’s cheeks were still warm, like he was going to burn up just by looking at y/n.
“So, Are you jughead’s boyfriend?” Sweet pea asked hesitantly.
Jughead heard sweet pea’s question and gawked at y/n, y/n returning the same how did he not know expression.
“Please.” Y/n scoffs jokingly as she grabs her jacket from the hook by the door. “Would you date that?” She pointed to jughead.
Sweet pea still looked confused as jughead finished gathering all the supplies.
“He’s my brother, dumbass. Anyways, I gotta bounce. See you around, sweet pea.” With that, y/n was gone out the door leaving sweet pea feeling like a fool.
“Since when do you have a sister?”
///
Another few weeks had passed by, sweet pea still on the hunt for y/n. The worst part wasn’t that she was all he could think about, or even the fact that Sweet pea didn’t want jughead knowing even though sweet pea felt like everyone already knew anyways. The absolute worst part of it all was that while Sweet pea and jughead along with all their friends went to southside high, y/n went to Riverdale high.
Which to be honest, sweet pea didn’t understand at all. According to jughead, y/n got better grades and there were more opportunities for her at riverdale high, so that’s where she stayed.
“Wait, that means that Fp is her dad. Fp is y/n’s dad? Her actual dad?”
“No sweet pea. We’re full siblings but have different parents.” Jughead said sarcastically. All these questions about y/n were really starting to get him going.
Y/n was all sweet pea could think about in class while he would be attempting to do his work but he’d end up simply staring off into space, imagining all the dates and things he and y/n could do together. Sweet pea had definitely fallen head over heels for jughead’s sister, which was the last thing he expected to happen. But she was beautiful.
As the bell rang for lunch, sweet pea booted it out of class. Toni, fangs and jughead all had the same science class together while Sweet pea had math so they wouldn’t see him until he made it down to the cafeteria to meet them. Instead, he ran straight outside and onto his bike, heading right for riverdale high.
Sweet pea had already tried everything to see y/n, just to get to talk to her. But he made no progress as nothing worked. Sweet pea did so much as invited himself over to jughead’s one night because “Hey, Jones, you know…I’ve been thinking. We should spend some more time together.” The only other one home was Fp, which made things so awkward that sweet pea wanted to curl up in a ball and die.
So here he was, ready to walk on in and ask her for out for lunch. Was sweet pea’s plan a little too extra? Maybe. But that wasn’t going to stop him even if y/n barely knew him, he’d get her to agree one way or another. Besides, he doubted that she wanted to be cooped up in school all day.
Sweet pea had no trouble finding the office. Once they paged her for sweet pea, they could get on with things, hit it off and fall in love. Sweet pea was love struck- and blind. Who the help was he to think that this plan would actually work? Why couldn’t he just muster up the courage and tell jughead? Probably because he knew that Jughead would never approve, but sweet pea could dream.
Y/n arrived in the office a minute later and walked up to the front desk where sweet pea leaned against the back wall, watching her. She didn’t even notice him standing there until she asked the receptionist why she was called and the woman kindly pointed to sweet pea.
“Hey, you!” Y/n exclaimed. “It’s nice to see you again.”
“Yeah, you too.” Was all sweet pea could say. Y/n looked so different in a cardigan and jeans unlike when he had seen her before. Sweet pea wanted to say something else but couldn’t even seem to form words around y/n. What was he supposed to tell her now? That he had come all the way over to the northside and ditched lunch with his friends to take y/n out when she probably already had plans?
“So, uh,” y/n felt uncomfortable with all the various teachers and students in the office watching her and sweet pea. She led him out towards the front door before she said anything else. “Is there a reason why you’re here?” Y/n didn’t want to sound rude but why else would big, tough sweet pea be here? Maybe she was in trouble with the ghoulie again. Or maybe- “Jughead. Is he okay?” Y/n asked, an edge to her voice.
Sweet pea took put his hand on y/n’s back and led her outside of the school towards his bike. He wasn’t going to lie to her- but she made things so much easier for him. “Yeah. It’s jughead.” Sweet pea smiled sarcastically but y/n didn’t notice. “Little rascals got himself in shit again.”
Y/n shot sweet pea a look he couldn’t interpret. He wasn’t so sure that y/n was buying into the lie he was selling her, but she didn’t let him know. They kept walking until sweet pea reached his bike and hopped on, y/n getting on behind him. She didn’t ask questions, just hoping that her brother was safe. But of course she knew better than to think any of that. Sweet pea was adorable when he lied.
Sweet pea drove to pop’s with a smug smile on his face. He felt like such an ass for lingering her along, for making her worry about jughead. But he just wanted to talk to y/n alone, sans weirdo brother. When sweet pea pulled into a parking spot to the local diner and took y/n’s hand, dragging her along, y/n couldn’t help but blush when she felt his hand against hers.
They made their way to one of the booths in the back as y/n looked around for her brother, but he was nowhere to be seen. Y/n wondered if sweet pea knew that she understood better. But Sweet pea still had some serious explaining to do as he simply sat across from y/n, smiling in her direction.
“So,” Sweet pea sighs. “I might have lied earlier.”
“Yeah, no shit.” Y/n said jokingly. She wasn’t even sure why she wasn’t mad at him. Y/n knew there was nothing wrong with jughead from the moment she walked to the office and got a text from him.
Mr. I’m weird, I’m a weirdo: sweet pea fled the building. My bet is that he’s on his way over to see you ;)
Ever since that first day when sweet pea had been over to y/n’s trailer, she wasn’t the only one who noticed sweet pea checking her out. Jughead knew what sweet pea was up to as well seeing as he invited himself over and talked about y/n constantly.
Needless to say that practically the whole southside was aware of sweet pea’s crush. But no one seemed to notice that y/n liked him back. She couldn’t care more or less what happened to jughead if he was ever in trouble. He could handle himself better than any of them could. Maybe y/n just wanted an excuse to go to lunch with the cutest boy she had ever laid eyes on.
“But I was hoping I could buy you lunch? You don’t have to be back until two, right?”
Y/n smiled. She liked to assume that jughead was the one who told sweet pea that. That others cared about her and who she dated and what she did. Because that meant that sweet pea asked about her which was adorable seeing as he put on the tough act twenty four seven but when he was with y/n, he was as plain and simple as could be which y/n admired.
“You got it.” Y/n said. Before she could say anything else, Pop Tate walked up to them with his usual shy smile, taking a notepad and pen while he took their order. Y/n didn’t even get to say anything herself as sweet pea ordered for her, knowing exactly what she wanted.
“-and a f/f shake for y/n with an order of f/m.” Sweet pea finished.
Pop Tate ripped the order off and slid it over the counter to the kitchen chefs and disappeared out the back. There was barely anyone around which was odd seeing as usually pop’s was packed around this time. But y/n was thankful that it was only her and sweet pea. They had the whole diner to themselves.
“You know,” y/n says as she leans back in her seat. “This is all kind of low key creepy. You know what time I have to be back for class, my order…” She singsonged with a smile on her face. “What makes you think I’d ever say yes to a second date?”
“Who said this was a date?” Sweet pea asks, his brows furrowing as he pretended as if he didn’t know a thing. Part of sweet pea’s heart melted in his chest as soon as the word date left y/n’s mouth. The fact that she called this little outing a date was all sweet pea could ask for. He barely knew her but sweet pea instantly knew that she was already the coolest girl he had ever met. She was nothing like jughead.
“I didn’t say this was a date.” Y/n retorted.
“Yes, you did.” Sweet pea assures her.
“No,” y/n sighs as pop Tate plops down two shakes on their table. “I don’t think so.”
Okay. Maybe she was like jughead. Stubborn and loved getting her way, but that being said, sweet pea was the exact same way. The both of them always wanted what they thought was right. Sweet pea wasn’t letting y/n win this battle.
“Well what would you like to do on a second date?” Sweet pea wondered out loud, taking a sip of his shake.

Jughead, toni and Fangs all walked into pop’s, immediately spotting y/n and sweet pea in the back booth of the shoppe. School had just gotten over and when sweet pea hadn’t returned for last period, everyone figured that they knew where he was. Sure enough they had been right, as the group watched sweet pea and y/n smile at each other over a couple of milkshakes and a basket of fries in the middle of the table.
“Jeez, Jones. Even your cardigan wearing sister ditched last period?” Fangs asks, his voice full of shock. Neither fangs or Toni had met y/n before. But sweet pea talked about her so much that fangs and Toni felt like they already knew y/n. Just by sizing her up from the door, Fangs and Toni both agreed that she was absolutely stunning.
“Hey, y/n,” Jughead greets as he slides in next to sweet pea, making sweet pea shoot jughead a look of disgust like he always did. Instead of pushing him out like he normally would, sweet pea just moved in and looked at y/n as if to say what the hell is your brother doing here?
“Are you aware that you missed last period? I bet weatherbee will be calling dad any moment now.”
Toni and fangs leaned on the back counter with smug smiles on their faces. Sweet pea and y/n didn’t even seem to notice them there as y/n was too caught up in whatever jughead was talking about.
“What?” Y/n exclaimed. “I’m going to be in so much shit.” She muttered under her breath as she got up. Y/n raced out of pop’s sans jughead but quickly walked back, grabbing one last fry out of the basket.
“See you tonight, sweet pea.” Y/n said as she planted a kiss on his cheek.
“Later, princess.”
Jughead stared at sweet pea with his jaw practically on the ground. Of all people, jughead’s sister fell for freaking sweet pea? Jughead was baffled, but he was still glad for his sister.
“Later?” Jughead questions.
Sweet pea smiled smugly. “Guess who just won himself the serpent princess?”
