Anthony Ainley famously relished playing the Classic Master, to the point that he often refused to answer to anything else
At the time, he was well known for answering the phone with "this is the Master speaking", and laughingly heartily.
Ainley was also incredibly secretive about his private life, and few details (if any) are public knowledge.
Tom Baker, who worked with him several times, described Ainley as "mysterious" and claims he is unsure "if I was talking to Tony or the Master at times."
