steve and bucky touching each other in casual, mindless ways. a hand on a lower back in passing, a brush to a hip as one steps behind the other in the bathroom to get to the shower. hair ruffles and teasing jabs. a hand on a thigh while driving or a leg flung over a lap while watching tv. moving into each other’s space and fitting like puzzle pieces, even though they’re irrevocably changed, because at their very core, they belong to each other. the other’s skin and bones and extension of their own

I now believe this is canon….

i know we all love the fics and headcanons where bucky is gentle with steve and takes special care not to be too rough or hurt him

but come on

bucky doesn’t hold back from pulling him into his side or into a hug that leaves steve surprised at its intensity 

bucky is the only person in the world who saw how strong steve was before the serum and the only one who didn’t treat him like he was frail and weak

Do not punish the behaviour you want to see

I mean, it seems pretty obvious when you put it like that, right?

But how many families, when an introvert sibling or child makes an effort to socialize,  snarkily say, “So, you’ve decided to join us”?

Or when someone does something they’ve had trouble doing, say, “Why can’t you do that all the time?” (Happened to me, too often.)

Or any sentence containing the word “finally”. 

If someone makes a step, a small step, in a direction you want to encourage, encourage it. Don’t complain about how it’s not enough. Don’t bring up previous stuff. Encourage it.

Because I swear to fucking god there is nothing more soul-killing, more motivation-crushing, than struggling to succeed and finding out that success and failure are both punished.

Encouragement and acknowledgment are so much more effective than punishment.

Reading so much Stucky fanfiction sometimes makes me lose sight of how strong the canon for the ship actually is. Like, "end of the line" is a CANON line not a fanon one dear GOD.

y’all ever read a book that’s so good it pretty much takes over you for the rest of the day? like, yeah, i’m walking around, doing what i’m supposed to do, but my mind’s still stuck on that one line that absolutely punched me in the gut when i first saw it. my heart’s still thumping somewhere in-between those pages.

Okay but I want to talk about this.

Because that outburst? Surprises even him. Possibly a phenomenal acting choice on Stan’s part—we all know how good he is at the microexpressions—or possibly genuine surprise, maybe a bit of character bleed. Either way, that split second before the gif starts over, when he presses his lips together… that’s surprise. He didn’t mean to say it exactly like that, didn’t mean to have all those emotions out in the open like that.

And Steve? He nods, assesses, and finds a way through. Because Bucky demanded it. Because Bucky all but said “if you go, I go.” And Steve’s willing to risk himself, but he’s never willing to risk Bucky (Hint: Bucky, at least subconsciously, knows this). So he finds a way through.

“Not without you,” Bucky says, and as he hurtles through the sky with snow and ice filling the windshield, Steve agrees.
