i find that men tend to like bill williamson

certain men, in the way that they empathize with him because they understand him

so many boys are made to feel stupid and are taught that their bodies are meant for work. they exist to control and to be controlled only by better men, those who have been gifted with intelligence

bill is made simultaneously insecure and egotistic based on the fact that he is huge, but he is full of nothing. he has a big presence, but leaves nothing behind.

so many men can relate to him on the basis of being unwanted, for a multitude of reasons; his looks, his personality, his past- or any combination of assumptions people may make about these things

it doesn't mean bill's a great guy or anything, it just goes to show how great this game is at representation and in being realistic, relatable... and it's certainly something worth thinking about when talking about bill with men

i know many men who can or could and many who do relate to bill on these levels or at the very least feel some semblance of empathy based on understanding and i am sure y'all do too. there are similar conversations that could be had about characters like arthur, tbh, and i may make a post about that someday
