Peppermint Tea/Mint Tea Toner It’s september and that means back to reality...whether it’s back to school or work, the bottom line is that september is all about running around and getting things done. Daily stress especially during september (when the weather is super unstable...sometimes cloudy and chilly then all of a sudden it’s sunny and humid) can catch up on our skin resulting in a dull and unbalanced appearance. Make sure to follow these three basic steps ( women and men) Cleanse. Tone. Moisturize The following toner is great for women and men with oily skin (acne prone skin) Peppermint tea when used as a toner is super soothing, balancing and helps prevents breakouts. All you need to do to make your toner is simply boil a pot of water. Pour a the water in a teapot with a peppermint tea bag. Let it sit for a while and then pour into a glass jar . Store in the fridge for up to 4 days. After cleansing , simply apply your toner and follow up with your moisturizer Good bye Shiny and Uneven skin tone.
Texture just ain't right! If that's the case...Avoid Dry, Dull and Rough Skin... Make Your Own Cleanser! The following DIY is Amazing for both gals and fellas, especially younger adults with oily or acne prone skin. We love saving a dollar or two and we just really enjoy creating our own natural products that benefit and nourish our skin. Instead of spending tons of money on cleansers, simply make your own HONEY and Lemon Juice Extract Cleanser (Make sure to always follow with your favorite moisturizer and sunblock, especially before heading outdoors) Honey contains alpha hydroxy acids that will exfoliate (get rid of all those nasty toxins/dead skin that lay on our skin). It also eliminates free radicals and acts as a humectant giving our skin the moisture/hydration it needs. Lemons are an antiseptic that kill bacteria and also exfoliate (brightens our skin) Squeeze half a lemon, mix it with a tablespoon of raw organic honey and add a tablespoon of distilled water. mix it together and apply to your skin. Massage in a circular motion really allowing the conjunction to sink into your pores and do its magic. After a couple of minutes rinse off with temperature room water, pat dry, tone (favorite toner...we can also make our own….more post to come) and then moisturize/sunblock.
Time for a little Lift It was an extremely long weekend, and yes the lack of sleep and the overindulgence of guilty pleasures has left us basically in need of a little facial tweak. Botox and Facelifts are definitely nowhere near our checklist (well lets just say not anytime soon), but one thing for sure, we love discovering easy and efficient ways to make the best of what we got laying around our apartments and making ourselves feel and look great. To make the following DIY FACELIFT, all you need is one egg and a tablespoon of cornstarch. (The Mask is great for both the ladies and the fellas) Crack an egg and pour the egg white into a container. Egg whites hydrate, fight acne, diminish the appearance of fine lines, they're super toning and improve elasticity. Mix the egg white with one tablespoon of cornstarch (it has water/moisture absorption properties which is great for creating facial masks). Batter up the contents until you create a paste. Apply to cleanse skin (and yes it smells terrible but at the end trust us you will love the results) and let it sink into your skin for 15 min. After a couple of seconds you will notice your skin becoming tighter and tighter which means your getting that desired lift without injecting botox or going under the knife. Rinse with warm water, pat dry, tone (toner) and then hydrate. Image Above: Brazil 1985 by Terry Gilliam

DStress! It’s mid week and unfortunately all the chaos from work is visible in our complexion. Lets take 20 mins to sit back and just enjoy the peace and quiet of silence and yes! nourish our skin. One of our favorite D’stressing mask is the yogurt and honey face pack. Inexpensive, easy to make, it is not only nourishing but it will give our skin a burst of hydration, a smooth look and feel as well as a bright and balanced complexion. Here is what you need: 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt (the fattier the better) Anti-Bacterial, Anti-Microbial as well as high levels of Lactic Acid will fight and kill bacteria. Your skin will be exfoliated and fine lines smoothed out. We love high levels of fat because it’s that fat which many of us fear, that will aid in our skins hydration. It’s going to sooth our skin while it exfoliates away dead skin cells . 1 tablespoon of honey. Honey has anti-viral, antibacterial and antifungal properties. It will not only hydrate but it will also tone and soothe our skin by healing any wounds or scars. Bring these two together and after you have created a paste apply directly on dry clean skin. Let the mask sit for 10 and then rinse off with warm water. Pat dry and moisturize. You can do this mask 2 to 3 times a week, the Pros are beyond amazing and you will instantly notice the results. Overindulgence of Guilty Pleasures?Long Week? Exhausted? Coffee mask Dull tired puffy complexion?, Incorporate a shot of caffeine into your skincare. Here are the 3 basic ingredients : fine coffee grains, cocoa powder and plain yogurt. Coffee is loaded with antioxidants that will fight free radicals thus assisting in slowing down premature aging. It also contains anti-inflammatory properties, thus reducing any swelling or redness. It will also tighten your skin and smooth fine lines. Cocoa powder is amazing. Tons of vitamins and minerals that will automatically be absorbed into your skin. High in omega 6 fatty acids, cocoa powder will repair and nourish any wounds or scars. Yogurt is moisturizing and exfoliating. Lactic acid will brush away all the dead cells laying on our skin and assist in achieving a bright and well balanced complexion. *You can also add lemons if you wish...Lemons (for oily/acne prone skin) will brighten any dark circles and purify any wounds. Combine all three in a bowl and create a smooth nourishing paste that will exfoliate, hydrate, tone and brighten your complexion. Apply on damp skin, let it sit for about 15 min. Follow with a rinse ( room temperature water is ideal) . Pat dry, apply your favorite moisturizer and voila you're done. This mask is great for both women and men with normal skin, If you have an oily complexion, you can simply squeeze a lemon into your mask.
Eliminating those Dead Skin Cells! The weekend is here! and this hopefully means we get some free time to run some errands and take care of our personal things. We're basically in mid winter and one of the effects of cold weather can be dry, dull and unbalanced skin. Exfoliation is great bc we get to eliminate layers of dead skin cells which can clog our pores if we don't manage to get rid of them. Here's one of our favorite exfoliators. All you need is to combine honey with a bit of water and fine grained corn meal. Honey has antibacterial and antiviral properties. It's also a humectant. Corn meal is loaded with vitamins and minerals which will repair wounds while shredding away dead skin cells. In a small container mix all three, once you have created a smooth textured paste, simple apply and in a circular motion massage for 5 min (3 to 5 is OK) . Rinse with room temperature water, pat dry & moisturize. You can do this once or twice a week as a pampering treatment that will nourish, balance and keep your skin clear, glowy and healthy .
Don't pop it...Breakout Solutions! The Weekend is finally here and after such a long week yep we broke out! There are tons of DIY’ and Masks in the market that will definitely take care of acne and nourish your skin. Today we’re going to try a fast and super efficient mask that is great for everyone that has acne prone skin. All we need to do is grab two tablespoons of honey and mix it with one tablespoon of cinnamon. Honey is hydrating, nourishing and soothing. It has antibacterial and antiviral properties, so it will disinfect. Cinnamon has antimicrobial properties so it’s basically going to put a stop to the growth of bacteria. Bring these two together and we get an amazing anti acne facial mask. We’re going to clean our face (after washing pat dry) and after mixing both these ingredients (make sure you have created a paste) we will apply it on our skin. Rinse after 15 min with warm water, pat dry and apply our favorite moisturizer. You can do this mask twice a week to treat and prevent acne.

DON’T BE TEMPTED...DON’T LICK YOUR LIPS! One bad habit we have to admit to... is the fact that yes! sometimes we lick our lips. With the arrival of winter; chilly weather is extremely harsh on our skin. Our lips are super sensitive and when exposed (we can’t help it) to the cold breeze they basically dry out! Here are a couple of tips for both women and men, we at revorish.com follow in order to keep our lips hydrated, nourished and healthy. We can’t forget that licking our lips basically worsens the situation. Our saliva contains acids which breaks down food, these acids basically just dry us out when we lick our lips. In the morning before washing your face, apply some lip balm or Vaseline on your lips. Facial cleansers contain oil fighting ingredients which can dry our lips. Always carry lip balm with you and definitely select one with spf and with one of these super moisturizing ingredients …beeswax, vitamin E or glycerin. When at home try this amazing D.I.Y. Take a cucumber and simply take one to three slices (the rest can be used for your salad or for other DIY skincare treatments and place them on your lips. Hold them for like 15 min. During this time your lips will absorb all the water from the slices of cucumber. We love the following P.M. D.I.Y. (When we’re sleeping) Simply mix olive oil and honey. Olive oil is beyond moisturizing and repairing (loaded with vitamin E and minerals) Honey is also a great humectant but has tons of antibacterial and antiviral properties, so adios! chapped lips. Apply the mixture to your lips and the next morning your lips will be moisturized, healthy and ready to face the cold chilly weather. P.S. Always moisturize before heading out!

Less is More! Easy/Fast Everyday Beauty Approach. As stylists one of the key things we always try to convey is the notion that individuality and confidence are two extremely important elements for looking and feeling great. This goes beyond what we select to wear, embracing ‘you’ and your uniqueness is the best way to go. It's all about pushing forward your natural beauty. Utilize the instruments (from beauty products as well as clothing) to highlight and showcase you. With such a crazy schedule, the winter season can be insane. Less is definitely more, so here are some of our favorite makeup pointers to help you feel and look your best. The following notes are for an everyday look. You can incorporate them into your lifestyle. We love to play with makeup, experimenting with different & exciting looks, but sometimes especially during the holidays we're beyond busy, constantly on the go; so we need something fast and efficient. A look that will allow us to feel great throughout the day (most of us are running from classes, work to holiday shopping & dinners) Instead of a heavy foundation, try to switch to a hydrating & nourishing tinted moisturizer (avoid a cakey look) Incorporate a Concealer to diminish and fade away the appearance of blemishes. Concealers should never be rubbed in. Simply dab and lightly blend. Some of us get carry away and just rub rub rub rub. For cheekers, we love making our own. Take your favorite lipstick (this gives you the option of directing the intensity of the color) and mix it w/ some vaseline. When you finish creating your ideal shade, just apply. This will give you a glow that is natural and definitely beyond fresh. Choose one! Don’t over do it….focus either on eyes or lips! If you decide to go for eyes, try to do something that really highlights you and your personality. Less is more, so choose mascara(super fun) or liner (sooo many exciting techniques out there… like a Winged eye) or just shadow. If you decide to do lips, the Same notion applies, do something that highlights you…you can do a moisturizing lip tint (from nudes to sexy vampy berries) to a bold pop of solid color…. The idea is to develop a look that is you and that embraces your natural beauty.Your features are unique and you should flaunt them never hide them. A little time and creativity will allow you to develop a beauty ritual that is fast, easy and all you.
