Found a couple cool things for myself while Christmas shopping for my wife.

Windblade | Transformers Generations | | Thrilling 30 #30/30 | | Hasbro | 2014 |
Windblade tis a thing of beauty. She is the consummation of Hasbro’s initial query of what the fans wanted in a new character. I doubt anyone had this in mind when going through the online polls, but I don’t think we could do much better. Her construction, paint applications, articulation, and accessories are all great on my sample. I like how her sheath can attach to either thigh or be carried by hand and used to hit people with. I only have two, minor, issues with this figure; her transform to jet mode can feel a bit fidgety when aligning the wings to lock in place and her heels tend to collapse now and then. Besides that, Windblade is a great addition to the Transformers.
Some candid shots of Rattrap and Tankor, including one where they reenact a scene from the first episode of Beast Machines. I'm not sure what I meant with Cyborg Tankor-surfing.
Today's haul is brought to you by the letter "F," for friend. See, a friend of mine, for the past 13 or so, years and I have become disenchanted (for lack of a better word) with most of the local Transformers collectors. I may go into specifics at some point later down the line, but suffice it to say that he and I have vastly different views on adults collecting toys than most in our state. So, we look out for each other when new stuff starts to hit. Yesterday, he found Rattrap and (fat) Tankor and was able to pick them up for me. I just got home from meeting with him a little while ago to pick them up. Man, these guys look great and I can't wait to get them open. As for the Rocket Raccoon comic, he and his wife both do lootcrate, so he gave me the extra copy of the lootcrate version of issue #1. Looks like I have new comics to read and new toys to play with. If you're reading this, thanks, Chris!
Still frame from a scene cut from the new Godzilla movie.
Swerve and Flanker Transformers Generations | Hasbro | 2014
I haven't anticipated getting a figure lately as much as I have with Swerve here. You can thank the team behind IDW's More Than Meets the Eye title. Before that, I doubt many would say Swerve was at all memorable. Now that he's hit the big time, he finally has a proper upgrade that isn't his name slapped on an arbitrary toy or an expensive, third-party figure.
Swerve hits all the right marks. He's an upgrade to a character I enjoyed when younger, matches his look in the current comic, and is well articulated with a fun transformation. His Targetmaster Micromaster Flanker is pretty darn cool in his own right, though I wish he turned into Swerve's My First Blaster as seen in the comics.
In short, I cannot recommend Swerve highly enough.
Cosmos and Payload Transformers Generations | Hasbro | 2014
Every once in a while, the designers of Transformers hit the nail squarely on the head and that is the case with Cosmos and Payload. We have great vehicle modes, great paint applications, and great robot modes. For the entry level price point, Cosmos (and his casemate Swerve) and the pinnacle of the line this far.
Sure, I could go into details like articulation and transformation, but I’m far to pumped up about the toy to stop fiddling with it and count the points and steps. Trust me when I say that if you like what you see here in pictures you will absolutely love them in-hand.

This happened today, thanks to BBTS and UPS.
Whirl - Helicopter Mode Transformers Generations | Hasbro | 2014
Now THAT'S how you do an update! Wreck and rule!
Whirl - Heloped Mode Transformers Generations | Hasbro | 2014
He’s a Half-Helicopter-Half-Robot wrecking machine!
Whirl - Robot Mode Transformers Generations | Hasbro | 2014
Whirl is pretty much a perfect update of the original toy released in 1985. The colors, the accessories, the stickers (yup, he comes with a sheet of stickers though the instructions for them are far from perfect) are all wonderful. He has good articulation. The knees on my sample are exceptionally tight. Whirl is a must for any Transformers fan and has claimed the number one slot on my list of favorite Transformers for the year. Sorry, Rhinox.
