1989 Decepticon Pretenders
I remember seeing these and their Autobot counterparts lining the pegs at the local Air Force Exchange and I regret not picking them up. What was I thinking?

This completes the Autobot half of my Pretender Beasts collection. Carnivac and Snarler, I’m coming for you.
Chainclaw is another Pretender, from the Beasts sub-group. Would that be a sub-sub-group? Anyway, while the design is simplistic, I feel it works well. The bear shell is a fearsome beast, even more so when he dons the helmet and blaster.
Roadgrabber here is from the original Transformers line. He's a Pretender Vehicle from 1988. I got him last year or the year before and just love the design. It's this era of Transformers that really go unnoticed and I'd like to see more of the non-84-86 characters get new toys and features in the current media *cough*Transformers Legends*cough* I really like how Roadgrabber transforms into a jet, because his name indicates a more ground-based alternate mode. I know that's where his vehicle comes into play. I do wonder if he's like the Pretenders with organic shells. If his vehicle gets damaged, does Roadgrabber feel pain? Hmm.
The original Transformers get a cubby to themselves.
The Decepticons finally have representation in the Man Cave.
#tffanchallenge Day 2 - Your favorite gimmick: If you’d asked me back in the 80’s I’d’ve told you Pretenders were crap. After watching Masterforce, my opinion changed and I really like how the Japanese series handled them. I’d like to see if the concept could be revisited. Besides, were it not for #Pretenders, #Bludgeon and #Thunderwing may not have the fan recognition they have now.
