Transforms from hovercraft to jet and back again!
It's been a long time since I've seen Kre-O on store shelves.
Optimus Prime | Kre-O Transformers Battle Changers | | Hasbro | 2015 | Notes: I think if Kre-O had started out this way that the line would still be around. I really wish more of this type of set had been made.
Shockwave | Kre-O Transformers Battle Changers | | Hasbro | 2015 |
Soundwave, Frenzy, Laserbeak, Ravage, and Rumble | Kre-O Transformers Battle Changers | | Hasbro | 2015 |
Today’s mail is sure to keep me busy as I clean up my Dinobots for these Reprolabels and build Starscream (not necessarily in that order).
Lockdown takes flight after successfully capturing Sideswipe.
It's just like one movie with the dinosaurs and special effects.
Optimus Prime has captured Ped, but not for long if Underbite has any say!
What happens next?
Beats me.
Yesterday (10/02/2015) evening was pretty nice to me for toys. Dollar Tree was newly stocked with Hot Wheels and I found the Paradigm Shift Treasure Hunt car. Marshall's yielded the RiD Sideswipe Kre-O set, which puts me one away from completing that line.
Grimlock | Kre-O Transformers | | Battle Changers | | Hasbro | 2015 |
Notes: Grimlock here is a lot of fun. My sample, however, likes to fall apart at the robot legs/dino tail. I’m not sure why. The bricks just don’t stick together as well as they should. Surprisingly, the transform is very close to the original toy. Another recommended purchase.
Hound | Kre-O Transformers | | Battle Changers | | Hasbro | 2015 |
Notes: Aside from whatever anger issues Hound is having, this Battle Changer is one of the nicest in its small line. The transform is smooth with some nice twists to get him from robot to jeep. He’s well worth picking up if you’re so inclined.
It only took traveling over 2,700 miles to find these.
Ratchet | Kre-O Transformers | | Battle Changers | | Hasbro | 2015 |
Notes: Popping up in several discount chain stores, as of this writing (09/21/2015), such as Ross, Marshall’s, and TJMaxx are many of the cancelled (in the US) Kre-O products like Battle Changer Ratchet here. Utilizing a construction of Kreon parts and traditional bricks to create a fully transformable Ratchet. This seems to be a cross between the original character and the one from Transformers Prime, but it is all good.
Bumblebee | Kreo Transformers | | Battle Changers | | Hasbro | 2015 |
Notes: For reasons I can only assume we’re along the lines of not-enough-people-are-buying-Kre-O, many of the offerings shown at Toy Fair 2015 never made it to regular US retail. The Battle Changers line being some of them. Bumblebee here uses the standard Kreon head, torso, and crotch parts and a number of non-Kreon parts to give us an actual transforming Kre-O Bumblebee. I think if the line started out with this that it may still be a building block contender instead of Built-to-Rule’s cancelled cousin.
I went back to the collectibles shop to sort through the rest of their Transformers and came home with Energon Rodimus and a (broken) TFC-005 Gears of War weapon set. The handle on the smaller rifle is broken, but everything else still works.
On the way there, I stopped by TJMaxx and found the Kre-O Battle Changers Ratchet vs Soundwave set. It comes with builds for Frenzy, Laserbeak, Ravage, and Rumble. Plus, the instructions say Rumble is blue and Frenzy is red, just like in the original cartoon. 😊
Marshall’s came through with a couple Kreon Battle Changers.
