GORANGER AKARANGER FIGUARTS SALES DATES
Japan: Akaranger is up for preorder at the usual places right now and will ship out in the third week of September. North America: Bluefin will be importing Akaranger for Western Sentai fans sometime in October. Thanks to a59er2 for reminding me to post these dates. I’ve also received a few questions about this figure that I thought I could just condense into one post.
How important are Akaranger’s sale’s numbers? There are many collectors calling Akaranger Tamashii’s “last-ditch effort/final test/last push,” but I still think it’s really too soon to tell. Akaranger is definitely their big test for the demand of older teams. If his sales end up being comparable to some of the Shōwa era Kamen Rider Figuarts, it would be very good for the line. It would show interest in classic teams and might persuade them to release non-current/Akibaranger cameo teams. kingranger mentioned that it seems like Tamashii is producing a decently large quantity of Akarangers. If this is true, it shows that they are putting a lot of faith in his release. Let’s hope his numbers match exceed their expectations! As for the “last attempt to see if there’s interest” aspect, I would wait a little bit longer. If there aren’t any ToQger reveals in the next two months, then I would start to worry. Should I buy the Japanese or North American release? I think this was in reference to what would show support better. As long as his sales are good across the board, it shouldn’t really matter. The only caveat to that statement is that Tamashii seems to put more stock into the Japanese market and fans, and the Japanese preorders are the first hard numbers they will see. If they are impressed early on, it might be just the thing to get the rest of the Gorangers or Sun Vulcan, etc. out right away. But North American sales are still good numbers. And I think supporting Bluefin is really important (despite how annoying their “coy” answers sometimes are hahaha).
Honestly, these are fairly expensive figures, so I don’t expect every Figuarts collector to be able to buy Akaranger. But if you can, it would mean a lot to the future of the Sentai line. He’s the first Sentai. That’s pretty cool!
