Okay, but you know what the Adrinette trash in me needs?
Mild Lies spoilers if you squint.
So, we see Adrien fumble when asked to be himself in this episode, and I kind of want him to go on a journey to figure that out this season.
Since he and Marinette are both newly single, I think it would be interesting if they explored their friendship more. Upon hearing that Marinette has suffered a breakup recently too, Adrien approaches her to make sure she is okay. They have a conversation about keeping secrets and how sometimes it's for the best, and they're both surprised by how well the other understands.
Adrien asks if he can share a secret with her and admits that he doesn't really know who he is, just who people expect him to be. "Even you have expectations when you look at me." Marinette can't deny it, but Adrien assures her that it's okay because he's never really been himself. Marinette suggests that he pick one person in his life to share the parts of himself that he keeps hidden so that maybe he can come to a true understanding of who he is deep down. Adrien is nervous about the idea, but considering how strangely comfortable he is with Marinette, asks if she would be willing to be that person.
Marinette is like AGNSHTKG- I THOUGHT YOU WERE GONNA PICK NINO BUT OKAY!
So from then on Adrien practices loosening up around her and slowly starts to break out of his mold. They watch his interviews together, and Adrien is like pfft look at that loser. They both mock his perfume ad. He tells her jokes and is elated when she laughs. He expresses his honest opinions on things.
"How do you feel about brussel sprouts?" "Well, they're not my favorite vegetab-" "Be honest." "...I hate them with a fiery passion, please get them away from me."
One day Tom is teaching him how to make a souffle, and when they pull it out of the oven, they find out that it didnt rise correctly, and Tom starts explaining why, and Adrien just kind of slumps like, "you're probably disappointed I didn't do it perfectly, aren't you?"
Tom: Of course not. It was your first souffle, no one does it perfectly the first time.
Adrien: so, it's okay that I screwed up?
Tom: Making mistakes is how we learn. Besides, even I screw up souffles sometimes.
*a whole new world plays in the background*
I would just love for Adrien to come out of his shell and come into his own, and I would love if he and Marinette grew closer while doing it. I know this season is probably gonna be about their solo journeys, but I can dream of cute scenarios!
