Okay but Marvel really needs to sit down and figure out what exactly the relationship between the different variants are because we cannot be having the three spidermen call each other brothers while the two loki's are making out
Strange's about to join them
The only officer here is Wong
me after episode 4, and then again after episode 5:
please god marvel let me rest
i see people kind of playing off sylki as a haha loki falling in love w himself is in character, but genuinely from a writing perspective?? this show was supposed to be him growing as a character and if its supposed to be him being self obsessed then 1) there is no growth, or 2) he's not going to grow further because of the sole fact that he and sylvie are so similar
I can understand Loki being attracted by another version of theirself, but love? At this point of his arc? It's ludicrous! He had no way of growing, he had no way of facing his trauma, he just had a couple of insane weeks. I can't believe they gave Bucky a full therapy but Loki had what? A manipulated and bad assembled video of his failures.
Possible guess as to why Enchantress’ name is listed as “Sylvie Laufeydottir” instead of “Sylvie Lushton”:
Sylvie comes from a deleted timeline where Loki was never adopted by Odin. Laufey, having defeated the Asgardians, ends up adopting a human girl who survived one of the battles he won. He names the girl Sylvie and raises her alongside Loki.
Thematically, we have a role reversal of the Thor-Loki dynamic. Sylvie was the bitter, adopted sibling yearning for attention while Loki was the favored, biological sibling who was next in line for the throne. Also…Sylvie is blonde, just like Thor.
All the potential clues I can think of why Sophia Di Martino’s character might actually be Sylvie Lushton (Enchantress) and not Lady Loki:
1) Cailey Fleming was cast as “Young Sylvie”
2) The Variant was introduced in Oklahoma, where Sylvie is from
3) The Variant is blonde, just like the Enchantress
4) Loki doesn’t have mind control powers. Remember, he needed the Mind Stone to control Hawkeye. The Enchantress, on the other hand, does have mind control powers.
5) The Variant didn’t like being called Loki. If she was another Loki, then why the disgust towards her own name?
6) Loki states that he’d never treat another version of himself in the way the Variant treated him.
7) Apparently, the end credits for some people showed that the actress dubbing for Sophia’s character was playing “Sylvie".
The casting call for Young Sylvie says "in tears over a frightening situation, she relies on her intelligence and resilience to find a way out” so my theory about her is that she was a mortal girl who had something terrible happen to her as a child which was when the actual Loki Variant that is causing all that mess (likely Richard E. Grant's Loki) found her, took her under his wing, gave her powers and raised her (a shoutout to her being his "daughter" in the comics) which is why she is loyal to him, works for him, and wears his motiffs. He might even have made up her mind on the tragedy that happened to her having been caused by the TVA, which is why she's so bent on destroying them. I'm thinking of a backstory kind of like Selene's in the Underworld movies.
Ooooooohhhhhhhhh. I like this, I like this a lot. I'm just imagining Sylvie and Old Man Loki having a TLOU Joel-Ellie type relationship based on this write-up. Fingers crossed that this is what the Loki TV team is going for?
This is probably Loki and Sylvie the Enchantress since:
a) she’s literally blonde (something Loki never is. Black hair is Loki’s trademark color and I see no reason why a version of Loki would suddenly have blonde hair. That’s like giving Jane as Mighty Thor black hair. And it’s not red hair either, so it’s also not Natasha. Plus the actress literally has dark hair and she dyed it blonde for this role. Why would a Lady Loki be a blonde? Tom dyed his hair black for this role. The kid playing young Loki dyed his hair black. )
b) Sylvie Lushton actually has really close ties to Loki. In the comics Loki creates her and she goes on to emulate Amora the Enchantress, copying her appearance, clothes, speech, even taking her name, hence ‘the Enchantress’. When Loki died, she grew ill. Considering there’s no Amora in the mcu, it could be assumed she’s going to emulate her creator, Loki.
c) we know Sylvie WILL appear in the show. Actress Cailey Fleming is playing a younger version of Sylvie in episode 4. If there’s a young version of a certain character, then that means there’s also an adult version of that same character in a more prominent role. Sophia di Martino is the only cast member who actually fits that description.
I’m really starting to believe they’re going to make Sylvie be Loki’s future/alt. timeline daughter in the show
In the comics she already kinda is, he created her and all that, but in the show they’ll probably simplify this because Wandavision already did the whole ‘kids created by magic’ thing
Turning a creation into a daughter isn’t that implausible since we already had three biological kids of Loki’s who were turned into…not being his kids. we had Sleipnir who was just a horse. Hela, who was not related to Loki at all and was instead Odin’s daughter. And Fenrir who was simply Hela’s pet. And I doubt they’ll ever introduce Narvi and Vali.
Sylvie’s the only kinda kid of Loki’s who I suppose has some sort of future in the mcu since she has ties to YA and YM and also takes on the mantle of the Enchantress - a character that’s been missed by fans since the first Thor film came out.
