the moment at the end of botl when annabeth finally tells percy the last line, after things have been strained between them for weeks. (“i was glad to be with her, but it also kind of hurt, and it hurt when i wasn’t with her, too.”) and he hears in the oracle’s words that luke is “a love” for her, and annabeth is crying and tries to explain, and they get interrupted. and afterward percy tries again to address the million tons of pain between them, but she tells him to go, and they part ways like that. and the book ends. botl is so sick and twisted

percabeth studies from the finale
everyone always commenting on how sweet percy is for dropping super romantic comments about annabeth, or their cutest moments together and funniest convos. and don’t get me wrong, i’m just as much a sucker for those as you guys are
but for me, it’s the little things that show how much he loves her that makes me so obsessed with them. like in chalice of the gods, he borrows her hat to complete the quest and afterwards, he puts it back to her size for her. it such a small thing to do - something annabeth likely won’t even notice - but it’s so effortlessly thoughtful. not to mention that despite how rushed he was when he put it on, he paid attention to what size it was for her much smaller head.
annabeth is a strong, determined, intimidating - many even say scary - young woman. and percy knows that better than anyone. but like… he takes care of her. he takes cares of her in both big ways and little ways that no one ever has for her, i just- UGHHHGH
he’s so husband
one of the highlights of the season for me was percy crashing hermes’ car into the wall because he was too busy staring at annabeth
Things Percy Jackson remembers in Son of Neptune:
- Annabeth exists
- I met Annabeth at a camp
- Annabeth and I kiss sometimes
- Fuck Ares
― Rick Riordan, The Mark of Athena
this scene is so funny when you think that if this cabin moment had happened in the book, percy would have said something like
“annabeth looked at me like she was going to use her necklace and strangle me with it but instead she just gave it to me”
and then we see her with the sweetest most genuine expression and he’s just a seaweed brain
Adult Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase are the most surreal power couple in the mortal world.
Annabeth Chase, world renowned architect who was entrusted with repairs and renovation on the Empire State Building…
…and her husband, this guy who was wanted by the FBI for blowing up the St Louis Arch seventeen years ago
Everyone holding Annabeth to an impossible Standard
And then there’s Percy
can we talk about percy uncovering luke’s true intentions and luke coming clean about wanting to recruit percy as a powerful ally and percy obviously refusing despite sympathizing with the cause because he’s just better than that leading to them dueling, with luke about to strike percy down when annabeth’s blade, the one luke gifted her, the same cursed blade that’ll reap his soul 3 years from now, sealed with the promise of family and new beginnings, knocking into backbiter in luke’s hands, and luke turning to stare at her with the most heartbroken, torn expression on his face and annabeth staring him down with more venom than any pit scorpion could’ve had.
can we talk about annabeth standing in the clearing watching the only man she loves, someone who made a promise to protect her and always have her back, someone she’s known for 5 years, looming over a boy she met mere weeks ago, someone who, despite a godly rivalry getting in the way of their initial friendship, fought for her and saved her and chose her over himself time and time again…can we talk about how the defiance in her gaze made it very clear to luke that the person he’s closest to would choose percy over him every time
“I almost didn't recognize her. She was wearing a sleeveless silk dress like C.C.'s, only white. Her hair was newly washed and combed and braided with gold. Worst of all, she was wearing makeup, which I never thought Annabeth would be caught dead in. I mean, she looked good. Really good. I probably would've been tongue-tied if I could've said anything except reet, reet, reet. But there was also something totally wrong about it. It just wasn't Annabeth.
She looked around the room and frowned. ‘Where's Percy?’
I squealed up a storm, but she didn't seem to hear me.”
~Percy Jackson, SoM ch. 12

All I'm saying is that Percy and Annabeth not getting lost in the Lotus because they were each other's tether to reality is a nice preview to Annabeth being Percy's tether to mortality. They only just started and they are already each other's anchor to everything.
