omfg no.. i have always wanted to be a tote bag (or probably more accurately briefcase) girlie because it is more fashion-forward but this is a case where comfort wins out for me because i simply do not have the shoulders/back for that lifestyle and i don't understand how anyone else does! i need so much stuff and items with me for work; laptop, charger, lunch, water bottle, meds, extra masks, book(s), sweater, umbrella, wallet & keys.... all that in a tote bag would (1) look bulky & stupid (2) ruin my shoulder. so, regrettably, backpack it is.
what do people who use work totes bring to work? a protein bar and a chapstick? wherefore your MATERIALS??

definitely used to be true, but not anymore! teaching was my career plan from like. ages 16-23? i did as much coaching, summer camp counseling, summer school teaching, tutoring, teachers' assistant-ing, etc. etc. as i could possibly fit into my schedule all the way through high school and undergrad in order to get classroom experience and concentrated in the sociology of urban (" ") education for my undergrad degree (my school didn't offer an actual education or teaching degree at the undergraduate level so sociology of education was the closest i could get). i then started a masters' degree in teaching because i strongly believe(d) in actually studying pedagogy rather than going straight into the classroom out of undergrad because you've conflated subject area expertise with the ability to effectively teach that subject (doing MY part to combat the teach-for-americaification of usamerican teaching), and while i had accumulated a lot of classroom experience by that point, i hadn't actually been able to take any courses in pedagogy at the undergraduate level.
anywayyy long story short the masters' program i chose ended up being a complete shitshow to the point of one third of my class including me dropping out before completion -- the professors were shitty, the courses were shitty, our feedback was ignored, and being in a program about how to teach that was itself being taught poorly made me feel like i was Losing My Grip. i was already really stretching myself to participate in that program because of how much more disabled i had become after graduating from undergrad (long-time fans will remember the 18-month-long migraine i had from 2020-2021) and i felt like i was pushing myself to my physical limit without anything to show for it. ultimately i quit the program and the field more broadly due to a combination of disillusionment with teaching brought on by that awful masters experience as well as the dawning realization that i had become too disabled by that point to be able to do justice to a full-time teaching position even if i were to transfer and finish my degree somewhere else. LOTS of grief about that decision at the time but whatever! we move 👍
as of right now my field is library science; i would be potentially interested in instruction within lis at some point in the distant future but i'm not actively working towards it at the moment. so far im most interested in archival processing & archival reference (reference is what i do rn) but im definitely still exploring and want to try out some other stuff as well, so we'll see!

YEAH it's like. of course no one is ever going to talk about it bc tv of the 2010s is powered by the narrative tension generated thru textually disavowed primary male-male relationships but like. stefan/damon IS the central dynamic of the show, imo.

yeas and no! i have so many mutuals who watch that it is one of those things i feel i'm sort of watching thru the internet. i love reading ppl's thoughtful posts about it esp from @awildwickedslip and based largely on those i do think i might enjoy it if i ever gave it a try... but in general: i'm not a huge fantasy person; while i am generally fine to Read about graphic violence, grimdark/violent televisual media can be really hit or miss for me in terms of personal tolerance; and finally i am a terminal completionist and, having never read or watched a single page or episode of game of thrones content ever in my life, i feel a bit intimidated by the backlog and the scope of the world.... it feels more like a thing to save for when i have time to get really into it and read a bunch of the books in a row than something i would be likely to pick up casually . so for all those reasons even tho i'd love to get around to it one day it's not currently very high on my list!

im not! i watched like 30 mins of the first episode when it aired just to check it out because i did LOVE sophomore year, but starting out in media res with a long battle was not the way to hook me Personally and then i never really picked it back up again. i figured i would give it another shot after it wrapped if trusted friends ended up really loving it but based on what im hearing about the final few episodes that did Not happen lol.
i could always change my mind in the future but my current feeling is that neverafter was sort of the last straw for me with d20 or at least for seasons with the main cast.. it was just so characteristic of their work and yet simultaneously so bad that i can't get over it lol. i've liked some of the recent side quests which still feel unique and self-contained in productive ways (the power of using different systems and having more manageable stakes!!!) but "intrepid" "heroes" productions of late just feel very predictable and samey while also being like. so tonally dissonant as to be nearly impossible to watch. imo there's better stuff out there!!
