I just met Emmrich and he's so delightful??? I love that Bellara is a fan?? (how does she even know him to begin with?) This is just so cute!
The spirits inventing capitalism in the Crossroads will never not be funny to me
I don't understand the constant take that the DAI companions are "just coworkers" like ok, have you played or heard the banter??? Sure, not all of them were friends but some were! Sera was friends with Blackwall, Bull and Dorian eventually. Varric was friends with pretty much everyone. He and Cassandra ended up developing a very nice relationship. Adoribull happens, etc. Some of these people are friends!
Language my Rook knows:
- Antivan (she's a Crow)
- Common Tongue (which in-universe, it should be Orlesian tbh)
- Elvhen (her special interest, she's an elf, my hc is that she had a Dalish dad, etc)
- Qunlat (??? for some reason??? but it's canon now)
- Tevene (my headcanon is that she's a former slave Tevinter, the Crows found her there)
???? Seems to me people are misinterpreting the "Crows never take contracts in Ferelden" line incredibly badly. They never take contracts in Ferelden now precisely because of what Zevran did, which led to Zevran betraying the Crows and then almost single-handedly taking down House Arainai and likely killing so many other Crows as well. So, they've strategized, they've burnt bridges, they've had to adapt their methodologies slightly due to losing so many people. Someone made a joke post saying "the Crows are nicer now because the specter of Zevran haunts them lol" but isn't that like, an implication? They almost lost a whole House, they had internal troubles, they don't operate in a whole country because of shame. That hurts the business. It's not surprising than in the 20 years since they've slightly rebranded into going after more hated targets like Venatori or Antaam (though they still kill others). And the contract thing, why do you think every single Crow we meet in this game repeats "Crows never abandon a contract" like it's their religion. We all know what's behind it. They still run Antiva like a mafia family mind you, there's a whole subplotline and in conversations with the governor's about how they're basically going against the Antivan government and doing whatever the hell they want
This is not me being like "Veilguard is perfect!!!" or whatever, I have many problems with it despite genuinely having a lot of fun with it but I also really hate critiques that I feel like aren't well-argumented sorry.
"i miss when the dragon age companions were mean" y'all can't even handle vivienne

“Jayvik hug” this “jayvik hug” that, what about Jayvik “bridal carried that man and frantically ran through that building and left everyone else behind bc he had to save him”. What about that.
NOT SEEING ENOUGH PEOPLE TALK ABOUT JINX'S LITTLE FOUND FAMILY AND HOW PERFECT IT IS THEMATICALLY!!!
Specifically what I want to highlight is how Jinx found the two most important parts of herself that she lost in Sevika and Isha.
In Sevika she found a new Vi, a new older sister figure. She cannot fix things with Vi, she understands that, but her relationship with Sevika is something she can fix, and she can mourn Silco with Sevika in a way she and Vi could never mourn Vander together.
In Isha she found Powder, the person she once was who she can't be anymore. In many ways Isha gives Jinx the opportunity to protect and love Powder in the way she always wished others would do for her, quite literally Isha heals Jinx's inner child.

something about vi never wanting anyone in her life to change. something about jayce not caring at all how much viktor has changed so long as he's alive. something about the way vi associates radical change with death, perceiving jinx's continued existence as a kind of necromantic horror—the way jayce would shatter fundamental laws of nature without a second thought in order to give viktor the best chance at survival, in whatever form that may take. transformation as rebirth vs murder, hextech vs shimmer. nature has made us intolerant to change, but fortunately, we have the capacity to change our nature. and then jayce, realizing that he hasn't changed at all, not really—that he is a scientist at heart, and he shouldn't have tried to be anything else. and then vi, realizing she has become someone unrecognizable—never thought my sister would turn bluebelly. and for both of them, it's too little, too late.
I agree that it's different that these companions are too friendly from another from the start but a) it's not weird or bad to have written characters that are just willing to cooperate and work together, especially when we're a close tight knit group and b) sure, while some more interpersonal conflict would be nice at times, the fandom has been clamoring for companions who are actually friends with each other for 15 years??? Like the complaints about DA2 and DAI are always like "why do these people hate each other after seven years?"/"the Inquisition's inner circle feel like coworkers" and those are of course valid complaints and yes, there's a balance between everyone being friends and people hating each other but this is also kind of what the fandom asked for. People still say to this day that DA2 is a found family game, now we have a found family game. Turns out everyone hates it.
I'm leaning really heavily towards romancing Neve because I think her and my Crow Rook could fit. A cynic who believes in fighting for a better world vs an idealist who cannot afford idealism because as an assassin her job is to be the villain. All that. They could've met in different circumstances because in my head the Crows found Rook when they got hired to kill a Tevinter lord only to find one of his slaves, teen Rook with newly-found magic powers, had killed him and half his family first, so they saw potential. But if they hadn't? My Rook would have 100% ended up with the Shadow Dragons somehow. So, because of all of this my heart was asking me to save Minrathous in this playthrough but I decided to save Treviso and leave Minrathous for a later canon playthrough in which I do all the quests, but I'm just... really enjoying the angst with Neve gone because it was Rook's fault the Venatori took over? Like it's horrible but it happened just after Neve's first personal quest where she told Rook about the people in Dock Town who were worth saving and right after that Rook gave her a gift, and they flirted and it could have been something but then the dragons attacked, and Rook chose Treviso (because she thought Minrathous could defend itself, because a part of her thinks Tevinter and just wants to burn it all to the ground, because she is a Crow and the Crows come first, always) but she broke Neve's heart!! Neve saw her dreams shattered and Rook confirmed to herself that no matter what happens she will always bring only death and like, this idea has me on a fucking chokehold, man, hold on a fucking second...
I know that people have a lot of varied opinions on this game and many people in the fandom don't like it but idk, it makes me happy, I see a lot of faults but overall it just makes me really happy. I love playing it. It doesn't bore me or infuriate me like DAI did the very first time I played it. It really does honestly make me have a wonderful time, despite its errors. Idk.
The fact that Felassan is probably only in this game because of tumblr user felassan (who the devs know about) literally name someone more ICONIC
