I'm absolutely overthinking Demonology and the connection it draws between some characters ... From Derek and Emily's disillusionment with the church when they were kids (and Emily's friend crying to Derek "Don't protect them! They didn't protect you when you were a little boy!"), and Matthew's kindness to Emily and his religious trauma and addiction and ultimate death during an exorcism, and Spencer whose trauma around the Revelations episode center around the same themes playing out (and I just remembered when Spencer was seizing on the floor, Tobias said "This is the devil vacating your body") ... and maybe, maybe some part of Emily paying forward Matthew's kindness to Spencer ... hmm many many thoughts, head full.
