This is a collection of theist quotes from various places. Many of the quotes are from atheist forums, which attract lots of theists, although usually not the brightest kind.

I really have to stress that these quotes are real, no matter how bizarre they seem. At least, every quote I’ve tried to verify has turned out to be real – that is, it was written by an actual theist, not meant as a joke, and not taken out of context (although some were probably written on a bad day).

@honeystarsyt actually no. In 3rd grade science I’m pretty sure they still teach that hypotheses are educated guesses. For something to be a hypothesis there has to be observations and conclusions made through testing. And there is evidence for and against creationism just as there is for evolution.

Evolution is the only one of the two that has met its burden of proof. It is as well understood as Gravitational Theory.

As a Scientific Theory, it both explains what has been observed and predicts what we can expect to find.

The only “evidence” for creationism is logical fallacies and misunderstanding/misinterpretation of natural processes. Please direct us to a single artefact or scientifically validated process that supports creationism. Things like “everything needs a creator” is not evidence - this begs the question of why a creator doesn’t need a creator. Things like “look around you at the perfect world” is not evidence - that would be Argument from Beauty or Design. Things like “you can’t explain this” is not evidence - that would be Argument from Ignorance and a God of the Gaps. Things like a misunderstanding of the Laws of Thermodynamics are not evidence - that just demonstrates scientific ignorance. Things like “where’s your transitional species/missing link?” is not evidence - this demonstrates a lack of understanding of evolution. Things like “the universe is too complex” is not evidence - especially when trying to insert an even more complex “god”. Where are the fossils of Adam and Eve? Where is the confirmed site of the Garden of Eden?

Tell me - what would falsify creationism? Anything? How do you propose we even test it? How would you tell that creationism is incorrect? How would you tell that our understanding of it needed to be refined, as our understanding of evolution has been refined over the thousands of years the idea has been bandied about?

Creationism is not anywhere near comparable to evolution. The processes behind creationism - the part we’re actually interested in - haven’t, and can’t, even be defined. Nor does it provide any explanatory or predictive power. Claiming they are equal or comparable indicates intellectual dishonesty on your part. Or perhaps ignorance; not knowing what “special pleading” is gives a good hint of that. And this goes back to the original problem you face: you think that the mere existence of a claim or “evidence” (using the term loosely) means both must be entertained, even equally. They do not. You keep ignoring the “burden” part of the Burden of Proof. The fact that creation must overcome 150 years of scientific study, all of which supports the evolutionary process.

And it’s not open-minded or rational to put unsupported, poorly defined, and even magical claims lacking substantiation that can’t even be tested, on the same level as a well-tested, well-substantiated explanation for observed evidence and phenomena as is evolution. That’s called credulity.

All ideas are not equal. We heed these ideas based on the quality and quantity of their supporting evidence. Meeting their Burden of Proof.
