Xians don’t love their god, they’re afraid of it.
The “love” is just Stockholm Syndrome.
That applies as much to believers who claim to be threatening “warning” me out of “love” as it does to the celestial narcissistic mafia boss who wants to hurt me for not contributing to the protection racket that feeds its ego.
There’s a special kind of cognitive dissonance infecting a believer who insists that not believing in an “all loving” god will put you in peril.
You now understand everything you need to know about Xianity.
“God is good because he won’t torture me.”
This is the crux of claims about divine morality.
On evangelicals: "My attitude towards someone who says, ‘I have a meek and mild savior for you, and if you don't like it, you can burn forever and be tortured indefinitely' is the same whether they keep it themselves or pass it on to someone else.
A person who believes that is a wicked and delusional idiot.
I shall simply have to say, as someone who is the beneficiary of a birthright of liberty in two countries, one of my birth and one of my adoption, that I decline to be spoken to in that tone of voice.
I will not be told, "I have a supernatural offer for you, and if you don’t like it, you can be tortured forever.”
I won't be talked to like that.
That is the language of fascism and dictatorship.
It's directly immoral, and it's a great relief to know that it's completely mythical."
-- Christopher Hitchens
Do you really not hear yourself?
Being saved by the same one threatening the harm is the definition of blackmail. You worship an imaginary, celestial mafia boss at the threat of torture.
Since this is the same celestial mafia boss who ordered rape victims to be married to their rapist, this sounds about right.
I choose annihilation over all the other options.
Religion is an abusive relationship with an imaginary abuser; while the abuser might not be real, the abuse sure is.
Imaginary celestial mafia boss.
“... and when I pull the trigger, that’s when I’m showing ‘love’ in ‘mysterious ways.’“
And your “reward” is that you get to go live with the mobster so you can eternally debase yourself at the foot of its throne.
So love.
Believers paid the protection racket. Atheists realize there’s no mob boss.
And then feign both “genuine” concern and victory.
