Ah yes, the ‘love’ of “the consequences of sin”, the ‘love’ of “Judgement Day or of eternal damnation in hell.”
And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Ask me again why Xianity is repugnant and immoral, I dare you.
You already believe in your god at all based on nothing more than “faith.” What won’t you do in its name based entirely on that same “faith”?
Asked my mom if she’d kill me if god came down and told her to and would you believe it was a conflicting question for her? Something she had to think on? And she ended up saying maybe she would, getting snappy with me before finally saying she doesn’t THINK she’d have the heart to do it. And I’m still in disbelief despite having totally expected that answer. Stuff like this, the mental slavery, both major and minor, is part of why I hate Christianity. I’m grateful to be an Atheist.
At least your mother tried to squirm out of it. There are plenty whose agreement comes unapologetically and without reservation.

Religion dehumanizes.
Ray assumes that everyone’s as terrible a human being as he is. So, the question becomes: is this Ray’s own disdain for humanity, or Xtianity’s? And why would we take guidance from someone who thinks so little of everyone?
Ray Comfort is so delusional that he thinks not being delusional is being delusional.
If you’re not sure if Superman exists, stand on your roof and shout “help me Superman!”
biblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebiblebible..... BIBLE!!
I think Ray’s finally on the verge of a breakthrough. A little bit more Xtianity and he’ll become an atheist.
Every ex-Xtian I’ve ever hear talk about their departure has done nothing but enhance their life tremendously, making it richer, providing more meaning, allowing them to embrace life fully, and no longer live half a life of constant shame, non-stop self censoring and self-denying to satisfy a celestial warden who isn’t there.
Ray’s finally coming to terms with how abhorrent and immoral his magical space pixie is.
The “avoid accountability” mentality comes out of valuing and pandering to imaginary friends over valuing and being accountable to real people - including yourself.
Not surprisingly, this is an admission of immorality, via a confession of having no empathy, no conscience, nor any obligation to abide - even grudgingly - by our implied social contract.
If you’re only accountable to an imaginary space wizard, you can commit any act you decide that wizard sanctions, and still claim to hold the moral high ground.`
The pointy end of preferring painful truths over comforting lies.
If yours is a religion of love, then the fundamentalists should be the most loving. If yours is a religion of peace, then the fundamentalists should be the most peaceful.
Fundamentalist Christians like Ray Comfort embody the purest essence of Christianity. They live and breathe and understand Christian principles, and the scripture and teachings of the bible, without dilution, without compromise, as they were written and intended. They are the true Christians. Well, aren’t they? Is he not just a more Christianly Christian than you?
If your god wanted its laws and decrees from its special book changed, edited, relaxed or abandoned entirely, would it not have issued an official addendum? Especially since it was exceptionally, explicitly clear about mankind being forbidden from adding to or removing from the scripture themselves, not to mention its commands not being of any private interpretation.
You’re already ignoring so much of the bible. Haven’t people been tweaking it to get it “right” for hundreds of years? And what makes you think it’s going to stop? Christianity is already unrecognisable from its origins.`You celebrate so many pagan holidays, you don’t stone people to death any more (even though the Muslims do), you’ve turned a lot of factual bible facts into “metaphors,” like the nature of the flat Earth resting on pillars, and many of the “one true” versions at least tolerate gay people, even though "god’s word” clearly does not.
If you need to move away from your religion’s fundamentals to be a better person, what does that tell you about the fundamentals of your religion? Why not just discard the few remaining scraps of it entirely? Especially since most of you have never read it anyway.
The “War on Christianity” is being conducted by the Christians. For good reason.
Today I came to the realization that there are probably more songs about loving God than there are songs about loving one's family, friends and lovers. Hm. Don't think I like that.
No, that’s messed up. I mean, there are a lot of songs about Santa, but off the top of my head, only one I can think of about loving Santa.
Putting a magical entity whose basic existence you can’t demonstrate, perceive or confirm over the tangible, mortal human people you’ve surrounded yourself with, who you know, you can see, interact with, directly influence, improve and affect their lives, who have shared your life.
I mean, for fuck’s sake, “god” is eternal, right? It’s got millions of people loving it, and if you’re “good,” you’ll spend eternity in Celestial North Korea Happy Cloud Land worshipping and loving it, over and over and over and over and over and over and over until the end of time. Plenty of time for that. On the other hand, “god” will set some people in your life on fire for eternity, because it doesn’t like them. But you’re not going to give those people all the love you can, in the short time while you can? Because your deity of choice is a needy pyromaniac?
Exactly the sort of morality you would expect to gain from an entity who supposedly used its own son as a blood sacrifice to itself to abate its own anger.
