Religion is a Mental Illness

Tribeless. Problematic. Triggering. Faith is a cognitive sickness.

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Do you follow Jesus or Paul? One or the other.

"Many followers will claim their god is all powerful, all loving, all just, all perfect, all wise, omnipotent, and knows the past, present, and future . . . If this is the case, why didn't their god have the foresight to inspire the writers of the Bible so it would be filled with timeless morals and ethics that would apply to any culture in any time period of human history and written in such a way that nobody could ever misinterpret it?"
-- Eric Kincade

The bible is as unimpressive as the knowledge of the humans who concocted it.

The same people who insist there must be an objective moral standard - which just means their particular god’s subjective preference - will also tell you that some rules didn’t apply to all people at all times - “that was a temporary rule!” ”that rule was only for the Israelites!” - or that the Old Testament “no longer applies,” and genuinely have no idea how completely daft they sound.

All the things you should be doing but aren’t, all the things you are doing but shouldn’t... and coming up with excuses why it doesn’t apply, why you’re the exception, why it’s a metaphor, or creating “what ‘god’ actually meant to say.”

How do they find time in the day for anything else?

I love the lukewarm Xtians. The Creasters. The Cafeteria Christians. The cherry-pickers. The disingenuous and intellectually dishonest with cognitive dissonance. The “iT’s A meTaPhoR!1!”-ers and the “nO lOngEr aPpLieS!!1!”-ers.

Firstly, their god rebukes them:

Revelation 3:15-16 King James Version (KJV)
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

But more importantly, they are one of our best hopes for a secular future, living day after day demonstrating to the observant and the future generations how little of the bible and the Xtian ideology and dogma matters. How much you can change, alter or discard it to suit yourself and your own individual convenience. How ever-tightly you can - and should - pull on “god’s” choke-chain to keep it in line and not offend your particular secularly-derived sensibilities. Altering “god” to pretend it’s LGBT-friendly, for example, when it turns out someone in the family is gay.

The idea of a “personal god” becomes amusingly appropriate.

They are the Xtians powering the decline of religiosity, dismantling and invalidating Xtianity itself, verse by verse.

The most natural end result of all for this erosion is determining that the “god” character is also allegorical. Isn’t “god” the bible’s final metaphor?

Things that are lukewarm tend to go cold. All you have to do is wait.
