Henry Cavill: It's stressful waking up in the morning and saying, 'Can I still see the veins in my abs?' I have a big sense of pride. I told them, 'No shading. I don't want you to draw abs on me. I don't want you to put dirt in the right places. I want to do it myself. I want to have the body.' It's a pride thing.

Henry Cavill:  Mark Twight helped me to make my abs bulge out and my muscles more defined. When fans see me shirtless on screen, I want to provide that image of Superman that they have in their minds and make it a reality.

Henry Cavill:  You can't act your way into a six-pack. You have to put the work in the gym. (Press Junket)
Charles Roven (Producer):  It’s amazing what he turned his body into. He’s so muscular, with so little body fat.  He already had a great physique, but he turned it into something super for this film. (Press Junket)
Mark Twight (Trainer):  Henry wanted his body to look the same outside the suit as when he was wearing it. He didn't need any body makeup for the scenes where he had his shirt off because he had done the work and he wanted that work to be shown. (Press Junket)

Part 2 of 2: Man of Steel (2013) behind the scenes - how the iconic scene of Clark Kent on fire, saving people, was achieved

LEFT: Scene being filmed

RIGHT: Finished product with FX added in

Henry Cavill wasn’t really on fire of course, CGI fire was added later in post production. And he did not crush an iron door with his bare hands, strong though he is, it was a tin replica. Check out Part 1!

Man Of Steel (2013) - Behind The Scenes

Henry Cavill : “If you’re not lean, your abs won't show. The training has to be put in, but you've to shed all the fat. That's how you get an eight-pack.” (as told to Nerd Tears)
Henry Cavill : “There's one particular shirtless scene, before my Clark Kent became Superman, where I dropped my body fat down to just 3%.” (as told to Train Magazine)

Learn from the best. Know how’s it done.

Man Of Steel (2013) Things they didn’t show in the movie - how built Henry Cavill’s back was

Countless pull-ups paying off for Cavill with enorous lats giving him the extreme V-shape look - broad shoulders/back tapering to tiny waist - the aesthetics of Greek Gods in Classical Art.

Henry Cavill’s iconic shirtless scene filmed in a single unbroken shot by Zack Snyder. Forget the rippling eight pack abdominals, check out how deeply cut his lats are. Cavill’s the man! Check out Part 1!
