Few places compare to the gorgeous winter landscape of Crater Lake National Park in Oregon. As one of the snowiest places in the United States, Crater Lake provides excellent chances for winter recreation – some winter activities lasting until June. The snow can get over 40 feet high at the Visitor Center, providing snowshoeing and cross-country skiing adventure. With an average of more than 500 inches of snow per year, Crater Lake National Park really is a winter wonderland. Enjoy all this park has to offer, but remember that winter conditions bring hazards and always check road conditions. Photo by Jennie Wike (www.sharetheexperience.org).

The brilliant orange and red sunset highlights a craggy snow-covered portion of Olympic National Park in Washington. Missing the mountains can cause quite an ache, so for those who can’t see them all the time, we share them regularly. These majestic mountains are the ancestral home to Twana/Skokomish, Quinault, Hoh, Quileute and Klallam/S'Klallam people. Photo courtesy of Becky Stinnett.
