saw a post about redemption arcs and i realized that a lot of our discussions would be improved if we discussed villains for what they are (pieces of a narrative whole) instead of what they definitely are not (real people on trial)

Please, for the love of god, please don’t be this person. No matter how long it’s been since an update, no matter how many unfinished stories are sitting on their account, no matter what - do not be this person.

Not only is it insanely rude, but you also do more damage than you think be being such a self-entitled ass about something someone created for free and for fun. “This author” can see what you say.

RIP decency indeed.

My dude, my buddy, my person. I am more overwhelmed than a moth at a candlelight vigil.

Authors don’t owe you anything.

It’s our story and the reasons people write or don’t write are as varied as the authors and stories themselves. It also doesn’t help that comment culture is really not very great. Stories that have thousands of hits only manage a few comments. Kudos are nice but it’s no substitute for someone telling us they love our stories and can’t wait for more. It’s the best kind of motivation and reward. Fanfiction is also an escape from reality but sometimes reality can’t be escaped. People have things like jobs, families, mental/physical health problems. No story is worth your well being.

Being paid for fanfiction is illegal because it’s not our work. It’s just a world we’re playing in. If you want updates and more content then interact. POLITELY. Don’t try to shame someone into writing more and definitely don’t act like we OWE it to you either. We don’t.

We write because we like to. Comments and people like this are the problem. Do your favorite author a solid and go tell them something nice about their latest chapter, and if you want to make their YEAR, leave them kudos, bookmarks and comments on all their chapters of the story. You have no idea how much that does for an author. Be better than this guy.

Constantly obsessed with the concept of a man forced to be a myth. What do you do when every step you take is embedded into the text. Every word you say prose to read. You're part of something bigger than yourself. The narrative tugs you along like water currents. There is no time to rest, to be human. You must be great, you must be legend

this doesnt seem like a popular opinion on here but sometimes i like when characters die. sometimes its needed to raise the stakes and sometimes its the end best befitting of the character and sometimes its needed to move the narrative forward and sometimes its the only way a character would believably leave their story behind and sometimes it just spices things up a bit. sometimes its fun to watch characters die . sorry

Couple + Sibling/relative third wheel is honestly an S-tier trio dynamic and I wish we saw more of this in media.

"You are my soulmate. We are forged together by battle and tears and love. Also my brother's coming along."

"Yo."

Bonus points if the non-related half of the couple is just as committed to keeping the third wheel around as the related half.

"Isn't it weird that your brother in law is always hanging around?"

"You've got a problem with Andrew?"

I'm realizing just now this is Han, Leia, and Luke.

I'm gonna call it... Bi4Bi and their Funky Guy.

LMAO, YES
