like sorry but i'm incapable of forming genuine attachment to figures in sports for whom everything seems to fall into place with ease! where is the thrill in fulfilling a prophecy? i need these bitches fucked up insane, fumbling every bag and stumbling at every step, struggling to reconcile the gap between who they are and who they feel they should be. i need the kind of people who have been running away from the narrative for so long they have no idea what it means now to be the kind of person who can turn around and take what is offered, to be able to hold a crown in their hands without it feeling like trying to cup water. i can't relate to the banal hero's journey of success, i want the people discarded to the peripheries of those stories, the people who will never be carved into a statue - at best a stepping stone, fated to be trapped in the very place they once believed they wanted to reach more than anything. please don't read into what this says about me as a person!
