Extreme misogyny will be treated as a form of extremism under new government plans, the Home Office has said.
Yvette Cooper, the home secretary, has ordered a review of the UK's counter-extremism strategy to determine how best to tackle threats posed by harmful ideologies.
The analysis will look at hatred of women as one of the ideological trends that the government says is gaining traction.
Ms Cooper said there has been a rise in extremism "both online and on our streets" that "frays the very fabric of our communities and our democracy".
The review will look at the rise of Islamist and far-right extremism in the UK, as well as wider ideological trends, including extreme misogyny or beliefs which fit into broader categories, such as violence.
It will also look at the causes and conduct of the radicalisation of young people.
Ms Cooper said the strategy will "map and monitor extremist trends" to work out how to disrupt and divert people away from them.
It will also "identify any gaps in existing policy which need to be addressed to crack down on those pushing harmful and hateful beliefs and violence", she said.
Ms Cooper said that action against extremism has been "badly hollowed out" in recent years.
The work will inform a new counter-extremism strategy, which was promised in Labour's manifesto and which the Home Office says will "respond to growing and changing patterns" of extremism across the UK.

You cannot owe someone sex.
You can refuse sex for any or no reason.
Sex isn’t something that can be forced to prevent oppression.
Calling someone a bigot for refusing sex for any or no reason is coercion. You’re attempting to use guilt to coerce a yes out of a no.
Even asking the question “why?” After you hear a no Is in its nature also coercive, because you’re trying to determine if you think the reason for saying no is “good enough” to be allowed.
You can reject someone for being fat and it’s actually okay,
You can reject someone for being a poc and it’s actually okay.
Sex is, by its nature, discriminatory.
Because the alternative you’re suggesting is that there are conditions in which a person can’t say no, where they MUST have sex with someone to avoid hurting their feelings or causing oppression.
But denial of sex is not and can never be oppressive.
Sex isn’t a tool to get liberated from oppression.
Sex isn’t political.

I'm once again here to tell you that eugenics is the study of how to arrange reproduction within a human population to increase the occurrence of heritable characteristics regarded as desirable. It is not women getting abortions because their child will be permanently disabled and or in chronic physical pain if they are born. It is not women deciding they cannot care for a down syndrome child who will need permanent care. It is not individual women making choices that effect their lives and bodies and families.
Women are not vessels for people to be birthed and cared for, women are people who deserve to DECIDE how to spend their short lives

because, the show says, look at what they’re returning to. look at the life that’s offered as their alternative. debt up to their ears, money-brokers beating them up, poverty at its worst. do you see? do you see how yeah, joining that game is optional, but it’s optional in the sense of choosing to be stabbed or shot: theres consent, but not actual desire. that theres agreement, but under exploitation. there’s a reason only poor people are chosen to compete and it’s so obvious but i fucking love how the show handles it and addresses any audience superiority anyway

women are also feeling lonely and alienated from communities en masse women are also expected to stifle their mental health for the sake of perfomance at work, in relationships, for children ect women are also expected to work extremely hard to maintain a perfect body and perfect health and are punished for being fat/having hair loss/having health issues especially those that affect ones sex life women are also insecure women are also neglected by parents and teachers and authority figures women are also scrutinized for having emotions and punished for not meeting the gendered expectations of our class and expected to climb upwards and overcompensate while being punished for signs of poverty and we get the added bonus on top of, yknow, being women. your emotional issues are not a Crisis Attacking Manhood theyre the way our society is fucking built you just dont see women as people

The Liberal feminist idea that men need to be educated on the concept of consent, as if they don't know that rape is wrong, is infantalising and naive. Just as a man might make a show of incorrectly cleaning something to avoid being asked to do it again, a man will feign ignorance of a woman's refusal as a way to avoid accountability.
