btw in case anyone had forgotten, MCU Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes are actually canon soulmates as confirmed by the writers of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Civil War and Infinity War
for those who didn’t know
top 5 mcu clown moments
- in civil war when ross was like “look at all the shit yall did” in the accords scene and then just showed a bunch of clips that were literally the fucking governments fault? and no one called him out????
- pulling tony stark out of retirement, after he got arguably his best characterization in im3, and making him create a surveillance police state program which was LITERALLY the Exact Same Thing the in universe nazi organization tried to do in the LAST Fucking Movie and nobody in marvels entire clown headquarters thought that was a fucked up thing to have one of their heroes parallel. somebody go to joss whedons house and beat his ass
- having tony say he was RIGHT for ultron in endgame???? somebody go to the russos house and beat their asses
- literally the entire long ass sequence of hawkeye ~ronin~ killing those asian people in endgame…it was literally IRRELEVANT to the story like maybe if they killed him it wouldve made sense but as it stands that scene means absolutely NOTHING. it doesnt serve any purpose in the narrative. what did hawkeye even do in this except kill poc
- the tony howard scene in endgame LIKE….i just dont get it…its heavily implied howard was an abusive/neglectful piece of shit father….and to just act like that never happened…….for that wack ass scene??? like we’re putting abuse apologism in out superhero movies now? is that what were doing? okay
- having thor say he doesnt wanna be king bc its not for him and walk away from his people at the end of endgame even tho the Entire POINT of ragnarok was him learning to accept his role as king and realizing it was what he was meant to do??? what kind of unnecessary backtrack for NO reason????
- steve not killing vision the most useless, boring, underdeveloped character even tho steves character is canonically the most likely to do so especially after vision volunteers. steve who closed the wormhole THREE(3) seconds after tony went into it in avengers 1 to save the world, steve “you save as many people as you can, sometimes that doesnt mean everyone” rogers doing all that clownery just for him to die anyway. TWICE. infinity war was so dumb
- endgame steve

The ending we all deserved.
It’s amazing how much better this would have been with a simple reversal of the order of two scenes.
End we deserve.
u know how i know that Tony and Steve were never actually friends and Tony never understood Steve as Steve and only ever knew Cap? bc at the end when he was all “u don’t deserve that shield, it doesn’t belong to you” he legit thought that being Cap was the most important thing to Steve, that hearing that would make him stop and hand Bucky over and reevaluate his stance. and then when Steve just sighed and dropped the shield and readjusted his grip on Bucky, the actual most important thing to him, and walked away, Tony was sat there like wasnt_expecting_that.mp3
i hate that catws is third but this line made me laugh so hard
listen. i know it's not 2014 anymore and i know it's just a throwaway line and that the russo brothers didnt intend for marvel action blockbuster captain america the winter soldier to become the tragic gay love story that never was but man. having steve say "it's kind of hard to find someone with shared life experience" in a conversation about romantic relationships right before the bucky reveal is so cruel. it's not just about steve and bucky obviously having the shared experience of being "out of time," it's the fact that they've both been stripped of their humanity in opposite directions. steve is a legend, he is an american hero and a national icon before he is a human being the same way that bucky is a weapon and a killing machine before he is a human being. steve knows that anyone who falls in love with him in the 21st century fell in love with captain america first, and that's just not him. but then the one person who knew him first and knew him best and loved him (not captain america, that little guy from brooklyn) so much he died for it is alive, impossibly. and it's a miracle because he's back and it's horrific because he's back under the worst possible circumstances. but to steve, the winter soldier is worth tearing the world apart for because he's always been bucky first. they find each other and suddenly they're human again. and maybe, despite it all, being "out of time" becomes a blessing, because in this century they'd finally be allowed to love each other the way they've always wanted to. like real people do.
like. no. the captain america trilogy isn't about two queer men traumatized and alienated by war and modern life rediscovering and reclaiming their humanity through their love for each other. but. i mean. it couldve been

The hardest thing to do as an actor is to act without dialogue and Sebastian Stan did such an incredible job with this character, give him so much life and complexity and texture without a lot of dialogue. — Anthony Russo
He conveyed incredible menace just through movement for a good 60 minutes in the movie. And that is the hardest job in acting. It’s always very difficult to convey emotion without speaking. — Joe Russo
