That feeling when you realize what a mess you made and you don’t know where to start with cleaning it up.
1. Put on music: your brain is far less likely to spiral if the emotional-engagement part of your attention is is diverted.
2. Clothes: two piles, dirty & clean. If you have access to a machine run a load. If not; it can wait. You know where your clean clothes are now, good job!
If you’re feeling up to it:
3. Trash: Grab a plastic bag(not your waste basket) fill it. Wrappers, old food, broken things. Do Not set the bag down in your room, take it Out to the household garbage. You got all that trash out of your room. Good job!
If you’re feeling up to it:
4. Dishes/pop cans: bring all your dishes and pop cans to the kitchen. If they don’t all fit in the dishwasher/sink that’s fine. They’re already closer to where they belong than when they were in your room. Good job!
