Ok so back in 1800s fake Amsterdam we meet a crime boss who’s been hired to break into Azkaban so he can get the guy who invented wizard cocaine out of prison
@theyretheirthere this doesn't clear up any of our initial thoughts....
So @theyretheirthere and Myself ( @rayonfrozenwings ) have not yet read SOC but its been on the TBR for a while so we are going to read it soon. Some predictions from being in a fandom that crosses over Heavily with the SOC one means we may have picked up a few things.
- Nina, is a babe, “curvy” or plus size im not sure but def not skinny because people get mad if she’s made skinny - basically she doesn’t have “slender” anything…. thats a dig at someone who loves that word but anyway. Apparently I could be Nina according to someone in fandom so I will find out if thats a good thing or not soon I guess? - It involves some sort of heist - Kaz is a loveable badass with a bad haircut

-Kaz is Edward Cullen but not actually very old and always looks dapper af. Maybe he’s a teenager? Unclear.
-Kaz and Inej are probably the slowest burn but then they touch hands and everyone loses their mind about it or something
-Kaz stabs people for a living.
-Once he meets Inej he stabs people for a living for a good cause
-Inej is Lara Croft but probably barely legal
-Idk where Nina fits into this but she seems cool
-All of this takes place in a fantasy land that is not Amsterdam and probably is in the less exotic Western Hemisphere counterpart of where the Grisha books take place
You’re right… commitment isn’t really our thing, but I promised I’d read it by the end of next month, so I’ll try to have it done by then… if nothing better comes along…. it is the oldest book on my TBR sooo it might be time. - Oh Yes Kaz is most definitely the king of stabby stab stab and wins at that game.
- Kaz is very Dapper, I think he will possible become a new book love going by his general fan art looks. Sexy torn black skinny Jeans might be a wardrobe staple… or perhaps im getting him confused with Ronan from The Raven Cycle.
- Wow if Inej is Lara Croft I’m going to love her too. I love Lara.
- I should probably read Grisha too… but SOC seems like all the commitment I can handle right now.
- There have to be CROWS! because otherwise the title wouldn’t make sense. Though my love of assassin books and Baldur’s Gate does suggest that is could be an assassin guild or assassin based theme.
Oh right. Crows. There must be crows. And a kingdom. That is crooked. One might assume. Crooked in a Dr. Seuss way or a metaphorical way? Maybe both!
I think Kaz wears a lot of black because it’s ~stealthy~ but also because it properly conveys his persona as “AU Elliott Smith.”
I think I’m also supposed to ship Nina with someone but she’s an independent woman and don’t need no man.
I mean.... crooked could be anything. *wiggles eyebrows*
