Featured Article: Sexy Lamp Test
What do a female character and a sexy lamp have in common? Absolutely nothing - except when they’re both irrelevant to a story plot. In 2013, comic book writer Kelly Sue DeConnick created the Sexy Lamp Test to gauge whether female characters are relevant and well-represented in stories. Essentially, DeConnick explained, “if you can take out a female character and replace her with a sexy lamp,” you’re doing something wrong.
