Here is a little list of fanon I have seen around in various places! Reminder, none of the things in this list are confirmed in canon. They are not true. Some of them represent one potential interpretation among many interpretations, and some are canonically just false.
- Gwyn is a lightsinger
- Elain has a “true” mate.
- The elucien mating bond is fake.
- Az is the only person who can sense a mating bond.
- All of Azriel’s secrets are related to Elain
- Gwyn is evil.
- Elain is evil.
- Elain gave Az the earplugs to hide Gwyn’s magical singing.
- Clotho is evil or something.
- The extra chapters (Az and feysand) were really about Elain.
- Elain intentionally looked bad in order to make Nesta look good in the Court of Nightmares.
- Lucien and Elain are not interested in one another.
- Nesta wants Elain and Az to be together.
- Lucien has feelings for Vassa.
- “Elain feels *insert emotion here* about *insert issue or person here*”.
- Beron cares about who Elain ends up with.
- Elain, Nuala, and Cerridwen are bffs.
- Any connection between Azriel and Elain as a couple, and the Autumn Court.
- Elain is a spy.
- Gwyn is still too scared to leave the library and hasn’t healed at all.
Again, literally nothing in this list is true in canon! ✨💕 It’s possible that one of more of these things could be confirmed later on, but as of right now, they are all fanon theories and shouldn’t be talked about as if they are facts.

As I was compiling this list I was just thinking jiminy christmas, this is a lot of speculation that is based on other speculation based on hopes and wishes based on a loose interpretation of the ink that was used to print the books (aka not even what the text SAYS.)
Yeah, and I don’t want to be a “it’s not canon, you can’t have fun” dickhead coz that’s not what I’m saying.
Just don’t try to say it’s canon when it’s not.
Have fun. Have guesses but clearly say that’s what they are. Write it as fan fic. We love having our favourite things play out in the fandom - we write shit posts that aren’t accurate but they are funny. We can consume fanon content no worries - but it totally depends on context and that the audience reading it knows that it’s not canon. Don’t let lines get blurred. It’s possibly a personal frustration and why I get so annoyed with the ship war because we are significantly lacking the povs of the characters being talked about. We have no direct evidence of any of these things. In isolation as a thought - fine. As evidence for something else - nah man.

But yeah that’s why I put the thing at the end, obviously we all have our interpretations and ideas about what is going to happen next, but people say this shit like it was written in acosf, like it’s 100% fact. No lol

The fact that Rhys and feyre are having kids is bugging me so much. I would LOVE a YA book that doesn’t put motherhood as something all main characters want. Feyre and Rhys had so much trauma to process and are nowhere near ready to be parents in my opinion
Yeah, I think a lot of people would agree with you, for many reasons. I’m indifferent to it. But now that I think about it, if Nesta ends up pregnant by the end of the series, ummm... It’s enough, to me, to just know it would or wouldn’t happen in the future. I think Elain will have tons of kids, but I don’t need to see it! The characters aren’t really YA anymore - Feyre is 21-ish, Elain is 23-ish and Nesta is 24? So in terms of their ages it makes sense. It’s just not really why I read acotar...
I don’t have kids, but I imagine that there isn’t a perfect time for it to happen? But, in acosf it did feel like it happened more for plot reasons than anything else. Feyre can barely figure out the whole High Lady thing and her sisters were/are going off the rails, why not have a deadly baby situation too!!!!
Okay, the thing I really wish is that, if Rhys and Feyre were going to have a baby in acosf, just make it not traumatic. Make it nice and normal and happy. They’ve been through enough???
Just going to throw in a thought from someone who wanted kids “at the right time” and was so scared about it being the wrong time.
I don’t find the feysand kid thing weird or out of character because age isn’t that important. Hear me out. I did not want kids while I was at school because I had aspirations I wanted to achieve first. It doesn’t mean it’s not doable and a few of my close friends were teen mums and did an amazing job. I personally wanted to have a house and I wanted to be in a good job and I wanted to be married. But if I wasn’t married then I would have dealt with it, if I didn’t have a house or a job (and I didn’t have a job when I first got pregnant) then I would deal with it. When I decided I wanted to try for kids those obstacles didn’t seem to matter.
I say these things because they were my ideal markers of being ready for kids. If I had those things at 18, I might have been ready. Or I might not have been - who knows. Feysand has a house, a second and third house in fact. They have a family around them and a support network. They have important jobs that provide for themselves and their family. They are and have been in a happy relationship for a couple of years.
But I wanted kids too - people who don’t won’t kids prob won’t change their minds. Feysand just didn’t want kids straight away because they wanted to live their lives first - but that didn’t mean they weren’t capable of having them, or raising them, provide a good life for said kids or that eventually they wouldn’t be having them.
But yeah - why couldn’t she just have a happy birth story. *le sigh*

I do....not have high hopes for acosf's writing tbh. The newest snippet seems clunkily worded, just like a few of the others. Like you i think I'm mainly in it for the characters and plot at this point lol
fhahsdkjahdkja the snippet that was released yesterday, I read 3-4 times to make sense of it. Why was it not “power lay in one hand. Death gripped her by the other.” We typically refer to one hand or the other. Not my hand and the other. “Her” hand is vague. Her hands? Both? Nope, just one. The other is occupée.
The snippets are also super dramatic, which is probably why they chose them, but I’d be highly surprised if 75% of the book wasn’t just as dramatic. idk man, when everything is the most, eventually nothing is.
All that said, I am still looking forward to it, to find out what happens with the characters! I hope that this book is more about Nesta and not about resolving bigger world or plot issues, that acosf is more intimate and character-focused. Then again, that’s what I read literary fiction for.
I can’t decide if my expectations are high, medium, or low 😂😅

I kinda hate the whole “mate” thing/plot device that SJM does. However, she has built it up so much over the series that I will actually feel a bit betrayed if Lucien and Elain don’t end up together.
I mean, yes. Exactly. It’s been such a big, life-altering important thing for the characters who find theirs, then what would be the point of them not ending up together?? And before people say “so that they can have choice and maybe reject it ☺️” EXACTLY that’s why I don’t like the bond, because ultimately it takes away a major choice that characters have in the paths their lives take, whether they want to accept the bond or not. Because they are tied to this person and have to deal with them, one way or another.
But rejecting it just for the sake of rejecting it? Feels kinda... pointless. What would it even prove. We already know that neither Rhys (nor Lucien!) would force Elain into anything. We already know it’s going to be her (and Lucien’s!) choice. There is no sense in rebelling against something that isn’t being forced.
I may not like the bond on principle, but that doesn’t mean I would appreciate her being inconsistent in how it’s used.
You built this mate house, Sarah, you better let us live in it.

6) Since we already know we’re getting something - what do you hope we learn about Azriel?
I want to know a few things. Like is his mum still alive, what’s the importance of Rose Hall, is his dad still alive and his half siblings? What do his shadows say to him - I need to see his perspective and how the shadows are addressed - are they just thoughts circling round him or individual voices? truth-teller is it a portal sword? can it cut through the fabric of creation? im sure i can think of more but thats on top of my brain before re-reading etc.
11) What do you think was in Cassian’s box?
So in my fan-fic I made it be a small stone like what aelin puts on Sam’s grave in QOS. But if Cassian scoured the world for something then i feel like it needs to be a rare artifact. like something that allows her to commune with her dad in the afterlife, or something that allows her to have some sort of peace because i feel like he would have wanted to. But the fact he threw it away makes it so hard because its unlikely to come back. I have a feeling what ever is in the box is going to make us have feelings.
12) What are your guesses for the main plot conflict in the book?
oooo i love this question. I don’t want to half-ass this question. urgh..... o well, speedy answer.
My main thought is that the start of the book is Cassian and Nesta in the illyrian mountains as he tries to settle tensions between the warriors. Mor is in Velaris with the IC trying to figure out how the cON are gonna be allowed into Velaris. Then - Oh look Feysand is pregnant, they need some ppl to help simmer down the CoN coming into Velaris because Rhys doesn't trust anyone around his baby mama and unborn child. So they retreat into the moonstone palace somewhere and leave the IC to run velaris. Luckily the mountains seem quiet and in order to support Mor, Cassian and Nesta come back from them for a big opening event (solidarity and all that)- the more people on velaris’ side the better. Eris stirs shit. Nesta loses control of her powers. they go back to the mountains and it becomes more about Nesta and Cassian trying to figure out her powers/deal with illyrian tension and also fall in love - aw. Meanwhile in Velaris Mor/Az and Amren are trying to deal with sneaky a-holes from CoN. the book ends with Feysand baby.
Next book - Feysand baby stolen, they gotta go to the continent and save him.
haha. its sorta half assed. i'm only a little invested and wont be mad if this is not what happens hahahaha.
15) Is there anything you DON’T want to happen in this book?
hmmmm not really because if I didn't want something then I am doomed to be upset if it turns up in the book.
I don’t like abusive stuff - it makes me feel queasy and unwell, but I can often push through reading about it - I just make god awful faces of disgust.

C - A pairing you have never liked and probably never will oooo. well i often give parings a shot. But I did write one fan fic request ages ago... and I couldn’t get on board in my head. It just didn’t fit. That was Mor and Vassa. I just didn’t see how their personalities would mesh beyond friends or how they would just start dating. and so yeah. maybe my mind could be changed down the road but i really want Mor to be in the winter court with Vivienne and her sister - because it so felt like Viv was trying to be matchmaker in acowar. Also, acofas scene with Mor in her winter ranch/castle thing just makes me want her to live there with another winter loving princess.
G - Do you remember your first OTP, if so who was in it yes, there might have been earlier ones but I wanted Artemis fowl and Holy (holi?) to get together, even tho he was a kid! what is wrong with me - I was a kid/tween too but what the hell. and then my next otp was prob Faramir and Eowyn from Lotr.

um - my life is a meme. I don’t know where that barrier between online and offline ends and I often make a meme reference and people look at me weird. and right now I cannot think of a meme i have used recently. hahaha
but def the spongebob one of “ten years later” or “84 years later” for the titanic one. erm. The butterfly one and often I will make the hand gesture like “is this cooking” or something ironic I am doing. Honestly I make myself laugh and that’s good enough!

In other news: /a story to share from I should be sleeping it’s 1am feeling queasy renee: The hens was a success! Except for the very end when my one drink and sorbet tag teamed me and I had to try and get my head back in the game and out of the bathroom before driving the bride and her mum home for the evening.
Also convincing her mum I was fine and we didn’t need to shell out for a hotel room was tricky when I had to keep running to the bathroom - but at least it was a great day otherwise 😂.
