Yes we all know Kevin is the heaviest sleeper in the world, but may I also propose:
A Mr. Kevin Day who can also fall asleep anywhere at any time and I mean in any place.
•sometimes when he gets to the court early and is waiting for everyone to change out he’ll just lean against the wall and knock out
•one time Nicky thought Kevin was just waiting for them but when he tapped a standing-and-very-asleep Kevin on the shoulder, Kevin fell face first from the wall and right onto the floor
•the foxes had to run twenty extra laps for the teasing that ensued
•he falls asleep all the time in Andrew’s car
•he’ll try to put his feet up on the seat or across the dashboard when he sits up front
•Andrew will never say anything but Kevin will constantly wake up to his feet being slapped off the upholstery or having objects thrown at him
•he’d throw them back but he’s already falling back asleep
•sometimes the gang will be watching a movie and Aaron will get distracted by quiet but very distinct snores coming from the other beanbag
•Kevin’s passed out of course, head tucked adorably into the beanbag, knees curled up in fetal position
•”dude it’s 1 in the afternoon how are you already asleep?”
•Andrew gladly steals Kevin’s popcorn that the striker isn’t awake to accept
•Matt and Dan think it’s the cutest thing ever
•they’ll try to do as much stupid shit around Kevin as possible while he’s asleep without him waking up
•he almost never wakes unless they put something near/on his left hand
•they learn that the hard way
•but one time they managed to apply three of those temporary adhesive tattoos to Kevin’s leg
•Dan’s camera is filled up with pictures of Kevin in concerningly uncomfortable yet hilarious sleeping positions that he’d kill her for if he ever found out
•he’ll fall asleep between his bed and desk, legs up on the mattress and head on the wood
• “how does he not have scoliosis sleeping like that?”
•Renee’s pretty sure she saw him asleep in the pantry waiting for his coffee to brew
•only Neil doesn’t question his behavior
•because Neil understands in his own weird way
•while Neil is used to nightmares that sleep can bring, Kevin is grateful for the sleep that he was deprived of for so long
•and Neil respects that people psychologically react differently to trauma
•Kevin never had the chance to sleep restfully in the nest. Too many nights were spent with one eye open and all nerves on edge. Now, though, that he’s at Palmetto and no longer fighting for his sanity every second, he’s allowed to give into the peace and calm that he was never afforded all those years.
•in the nest, Kevin was awoken too many times to too many horrors, too many assaults.
•But with Andrew’s promise and Riko dead, Kevin feels almost free.
•and if sleep is how he excercises that freedom—
•if a chance to dream peacefully without the fear of waking to a nightmare is his way out—
•Kevin’s not going to let that go to waste
Bonus:
•Nicky: look, Kevin, I’m all about beauty sleep, but do you think napping on top of Wymack’s table is the best decision?
•Kevin: he wants me well rested for the game, he’ll get me well rested for the game
•Kevin: MY way or the highway
