so my recent post calling out ableism on this site has caused quite some controversy

I realize now that I have both phrased some things wrongly, and said some genuinely insensitive and wrong things, and I am sorry about that

I promise I will address it more detailedly very soon, but my mental energy is really low right now (ya know school and such)

for now, all I can say is, I am sorry

I should have thought it through and educated myself more before I ranted, especially since lots of what I said was written with anger and other irrational emotions

I did not mean to minimize or trivialize prejudice and oppression, but fact is, I did

people were hurt by my words, and I am really really sorry

though I do know of some bigotry first hand (ableism, transphobia, etc.) I am still ignorant of many other issues, and I should probably not have spoken about any of it without educating myself first

hi bestie its very obvious how white you are from that dumbass post you made. you REALLY need to go the fuck outside and talk to people if youre going to compare the oppression of minorities to a shitty disney movie

people on this site be like “ableism is bad” “hyperfixation is okay” “it’s fine to have lower empathy/sympathy” yet as soon as a neurodivergent person compares current events and such to a conflict in their favorite fiction media in order to understand it better suddenly we’re cringy and childish and “need to go outside” at best and evil and selfish people at worst

it’s okay to compare Greta Thunberg to Katniss

it’s okay to analyze Tangled and Shera to understand emotional parental abuse

it’s okay to compare corrupt dictators to Disney villains

it’s okay to analyze Zootopia or The Good Dinosaur to understand bigotry and systematic oppression better

fiction appeals to us and can be really good at explaining things that we would otherwise find difficult to understand

if fiction is what someone needs to cope with and/or understand real life problems so be it

okay but isn’t the entire point of most fiction to talk about things from the real world in a way that people can relate to better?

wasn’t the entire point of Zootopia to address racial issues in our society in a way that isn’t incredibly depressing and overly complicated? or for the hunger games to show younger people fighting for what they believed in and actually making a difference because kids often don’t think they can do that?

wouldn’t getting mad at people for drawing parallels that the writers deliberately included be a disservice to the creators of the media and to everyone who enjoys it?

isn’t doing this exactly why humans evolved to tell stories in the first place? so that we could look at something and think to ourselves: “hmm this seems an awful lot like that thing my mom just told me about that she said was very dangerous. I shouldn’t touch it”

I literally cannot begin to comprehend how anyone can see this in a negative light.
