James Fox’s new trailer
This supposed true story includes an interstellar alien police force named AFFA from 1959.
From the essay:
People have been interested in extraterrestrial life for a long time, which has led to many studies and theories. Navy Intelligence asked Robert Friend, acting as chief of the Aerial Phenomena Division at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, to investigate a mysterious finding on July 6, 1959. This essay examines what transpired during Friend’s investigation, the significance of the purported alien contact, and how this case aligns with the broader context of UFO research and other comparable cases.
NO WAY
I’ve been doxxed 😨

I am deeply deeply in love with you 💙 Thanks so much for your conservation effort!
It’s the small things we all do together that can make a big difference! 💙💙💙💙 And you’ve done it!!!
People just gotta know what Crater Lake and Wizard Island looks like
What in the Skyrim
been there several times. And yeah, Skyrim feels super duper Oregon in a lot of ways.
We gonna talk about Crater Lake, and Wizard Island and not mention the Old Man of the Lake?
The Old Man of the Lake is a log that floats around the lake. It is somewhat strange in that it floats vertically. It's roughly 30 feet tall, with only about 5 or so feet sticking out above the surface of the water. It was first 'offically' recorded in the early 20th century, though there are oral reports of it as far back as 1896 (and likely earlier still given the cultural importance of Crater Lake to the Klamath tribe of that area.
The Old Man should have rotted away long ago or at the very least become waterlogged and sank into the water fully, but nope. Over a hundred years, and there is this log still in the water just floating.
So y'know how I said the fact that it floats vertically was 'somewhat strange'? Let's get into some actual strange territory regarding the Old Man. It moves. Against the wind. It has been recorded moving in paths that do not make sense, never getting stuck on the shore of Wizard Island, nor the area of shore around the lake. Now that's strange.
So now let's get freaky: The free-floating Old Man posed a hazard to boats since it moves, and only a small portion of it was above water. (though personal boats are no longer allowed on the lake) Anyway, in 1988 a team was using a small submersible to explore the lake. The scientist figured it'd be a good idea to moor the Old Man near the coast of Wizard Island out of their way, for safety. So they tied some rope to it, to move the Old Man. As soon as they did so, the clear blue skies of a warm August day turned dark. The wind kicked up, bad, and it started to rain, then hail, then snow in the span of a few minutes...again in August. Now snow in that area is common, but not in the summer months. It gets super warm in that area in summer (like 70 to 90 degrees on average) So the scientists decided to nope the fuck out of the water, because of this freak storm. They unmoored the Old Man, preparing to get the fuck out of dodge of this summer snowstorm. As soon as the rope loosened and was in the water, as quickly as the storm had come on them, the darkened skies cleared and it was once more a fine sunny summer day.
As a kid, I spent my summers with my family who lives like... 40 some odd miles from Crater Lake National Park so I had this knowledge just kinda buried in my head somewhere.
I excitedly added a thing about the old man before I checked the notes so now I'm gonna reblog this great story instead but here is the old man!!!
"The Old Man floats vertically through the lake on a calm day"
"THE OLD MAN FLOATS. VERTICALLY. THROUGH THE LAKE ON A CALM DAY"

The latest bizarre winged humanoid sighting report from around Lake Michigan.
The quiet Massachusetts town of Dover was the center of an unexplained phenomenon that began in the spring of 1977 and still fascinates paranormal enthusiasts and skeptics to this day. The entity, which came to be known as the “Dover Demon,” was seen over the course of two nights and left a path of unresolved speculation, sketches, and eyewitness accounts in its wake.
When Lucy awakens to a strange entity in the corner of her bedroom, she’s immediately overwhelmed with fear. As this strange, swirling creature approaches her bed, Lucy finds herself unable to move. At that last second, Lucy manages to call out for her roommate, Megan, who comes running in to save the day.
Megan explains that Lucy just met her sleep paralysis demon, likely a physical manifestation of Lucy’s stress. She suggests the direct approach, confronting this entity head on.
But when Lucy stares down her sleep paralysis demon, she notices something unexpected… the entity is actually pretty hot. Now the two of them are hitting it off, and it looks like Lucy might not be getting any sleep for an entirely different reason.
This erotic tale is 4,200 words of sizzling human on nocturnal physical manifestation action and sleep paralysis demon love.

Project Blue Book was a long-running investigation by the US into UFO sightings. What did it uncover, and what did it conclude about these close encounters?
Project Blue book ended in 1966 with a bland "nothing to see here folks, move along" final assessment. Basically, the USAF said that they looked into these things and couldn't find proof they were anything other than hoaxes, swamp gas, weather balloons, the planet Venus, or any number of other silly explanations.
Just one problem with that: respected astronomer Dr. J. Allen Hynek, who was also the scientific advisor to the USAF on Blue Book, disagreed. He went on to form several civilian UFO research groups, some of which are still active today.
Hynek was also chief advisor to Steven Spielberg for the filming of Close Encounters of the Third Kind in 1977. Many of the vignettes in that film are based on Blue Book anecdotes.
Also!
There was a short lived TV series, Project UFO, based on Project Blue Book that aired from 1977-78. Every episode followed two earnest Air Force officers investigating civilian sightings in every kind of context, from housewives to airline pilots to little kids. Every episode featured three real stories from the Blue Book files.
Of course, Project UFO (and by extension, Blue Book) was mostly about debunking the phenomenon. And indeed, the TV series always offered mundane explanations for the first two sightings BUT the third one? Always a puzzler. Our two heroes would shrug and say "well that one's going into the book as unsolved!" and that was that.
It was a reliable formula. I'd watch each episode, waiting for the third UFO story, thinking I was on the verge of Learning Something Wonderful.
The 1970s were a crazy time for UFOlogy. It was pre-Internet so information travelled much slower and you had to work harder at finding out things. But now we have instant access to everything, including the lies & coverups.
And now a new cycle has started in the 2020s with the UAP flap. Geez, they even came up with a new acronym to gain distance from "UFO" I mean hoaxes I mean swamp gas.
The main justification given about WHY there's a coverup is always, "humanity would riot and revolt if it was revealed advanced aliens were visiting us" and honestly? I think it's safe now. Everybody is so tired. We don't give a shit.
Please, just let us see the aliens. It's time.
I like how whenever I post about the muppets [tumblr] suggests 'paranormal' for the tags.
Wetzel's Riverside Monster
In 1958, two completely different Charles Wetzels saw two completely different creatures in two completely different locations. The two had never met, were not related to each other, and ironically both also had sons named Charles. On Saturday, November 8, 1958, one Charles Wetzel was near Riverside, California when he encountered a strange bipedal, reptilian like creature. He was driving on North Main Street and had arrived at the Santa Ana River which had over flowed its banks when his radio station suddenly went out. Changing stations didn't help. Then a six foot tall creature with scaly skin, no nose, no ears, florescent eyes, and a beak like mouth emerged and attacked Wetzel's car. Wetzel later described it as having a "round, scarecrowish head like something out of Halloween". It was further described as having scaley, leaf like skin, two long spindly arms, and its legs grew out of its side instead of from underneath its torso.
As it clawed at his windshield, he stomped on the gas, causing the creature to fall off the hood and under his car. Not caring about the monster, he blatantly ran over it. The creature scrapped against the bottom of the car...
In 1803, a round vessel drifted ashore on the Japanese coast and a beautiful woman emerged, wearing strange clothing and carrying a box. She was unable to communicate with the locals, and her craft was marked with mysterious writing. This story of an utsurobune, or “hollow ship,” in the province of Hitachi (now Ibaraki Prefecture) is found in many records of the Edo period (1603–1868), and Tanaka Kazuo, professor emeritus at Gifu University, has studied the topic for many years. What drew him away from his main research area, applied optics, to investigate this curious episode? And what really took place?
“Like a Flying Saucer”
Tanaka says he began to research the ship after the deadly subway sarin attacks in 1995 by the Aum Shinrikyō cult. “There was a lot of coverage of Aum founder Asahara Shōkō’s prophecies and claims to be able to float in the air. Yet the cult’s senior members were part of the scientific elite. I started giving lectures considering paranormal phenomena from a scientific perspective, which meant that I was collecting all kinds of materials for teaching, such as about UFOs in the United States and Japanese folklore. While doing so, I came across the utsurobune legend.” He adds, “Long before the American UFO stories, the craft depicted in Edo-period Japanese documents for some reason looked like a flying saucer. This was fascinating to me.”
UFOs became a modern sensation after the media reported US businessman Kenneth Arnold as having witnessed “flying saucers” on June 24, 1947. A flood of similar stories followed from around the world. Most famously, a UFO was alleged to have crashed to the ground near Roswell, New Mexico, in July 1947. “In the end, though, no wrecks or alien bodies were recovered,” Tanaka says. “There was only the ambiguous testament of witnesses. It was the same with all the other UFO stories from around the world—they were mysteries without any substantial evidence. The utsurobune legend, however, has a number of documents to examine as leads, so in this sense, for researchers it’s a mystery with substance.”
A book published in English by Tanaka Kazuo on his research. There are similar oral traditions about “hollow ships” across Japan in the Edo period. Tanaka’s research is focused on the various documents that describe the 1803 incident in Hitachi and include illustrations of a beautiful woman and a strange vessel, although they cite different dates. One of the best-known sources is the Toen shōsetsu (Toen Stories), an 1825 collection recording fantastic rumors, which was written by the Toenkai literary circle and edited by Kyokutei Bakin, famous for his lengthy historical romance Nansō Satomi hakkenden (The Eight Dog Chronicles). Others are Nagahashi Matajirō’s 1844 work Ume no chiri (Plum Dust), as well as collections like Ōshuku zakki (Ōshuku Notes), Hirokata zuihitsu (Essays by Hirokata), and Hyōryūki-shū (Records of Castaways), which gathers stories of foreign ships washed up in Japan and of Japanese sailors who came ashore overseas.
Picture 1- Hyōryūki-shū (Records of Castaways) by an unknown author. The text describes the woman as being around 18 to 20 years of age, well-dressed, and beautiful. Her face is pale, and her eyebrows and hair are red. It is impossible to communicate with her, so it is unclear where she is from. She holds a plain wooden box as though it is very important to her and keeps her distance. There is mysterious script written in the boat. (Courtesy Iwase Bunko Library in Nishio, Aichi Prefecture)

#Cryptober no. 11 In 1955 these creatures terrorized a family during the night in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. It was traditionally thought that the Hopkinsville Goblins were visitors from outer space but new theories suggest they came up from under the ground through vast caves that dot the Kentucky landscape.
