When I saw what happened on the news, I knew it was you. That you did what you had to do. I can already see it, what it's given you. The release.

I've been thinking recently about the future. About our Family's future. Maybe it's time to break with tradition.

Mom? Sofia Falcone in The Penguin S1 E4 - Cent'anni
Oz and Sofia are perfect foils to each other.
Oz grew up a working-class kid with big dreams. For various reasons, he chose the path of the gangster. He’s an underdog, sure, but he’s also a villain driven purely by selfish ambition. Oz chose this life, and made himself into a monster because it helped to further his goals.
Sofia, on the other hand, comes from a wealthy crime family. She was born into this life. She may have become the leader of that family under different circumstances. But for the sake of her father’s pride and security, she was thrown to the wolves. Forced to take the fall for crimes she didn’t commit. Abandoned by almost everyone who was supposed to be in her corner. Sofia is an anti-hero who was made into a monster against her will.

had to do a real quick doodle of sofia after that episodes ending,,, it has me in its grip
It's kinda sad and fucked that at the six month mark, when alberto has to tell her she isn't getting a trial, that he ends up asking her what to do.
because i can't shake the feeling, watching that scene, that if the situation was reversed, and it was alberto in arkham, and sofia on the outside with all the resources of the falcone family at her disposal, she would have found a way to get alberto out. and i think both of them know it.
it isn't lack of love on alberto's part, and i'm sure it wasn't lack of trying, but. it is so clear that sofia is just smarter than he is, sharper, more competent.
god that has to gall, on some level
