@anon-0-0-2 submitted: Hiii!!! No need for ID for any of these, just wanted to share a few bugs I found! The diving beetle was found at school so the science teacher let me look at it under a microscope!
The caterpillar was not found, she was a pet, her name was Abby. Unfortunately she didn't make it through the pupa stage, because of the sudden heat :( neither did her siblings. Hopefully I can get some more now that it's cooler 😅
Oh no! Poor Abby. RIP. I love the beetle and the orbweaver, but I would die for Abby. Big chunky caterpillars bring me so much joy. If you ever need advice on raising them to adulthood, I successfully raised several dozen Carolina sphinxes without any losses :)
time lapse of a banded sphinx moth caterpillar (Eumorpha fasciatus) devouring a water primrose leaf
(Florida, 9/18/22)
E. fasciatus caterpillars are heavily polymorphic and come in several different color morphs- those stripy rainbow ones are from the same population as the green one.
another neat thing about these guys is that most caterpillars drown easily, but since water primrose (Ludwigia) usually grows in standing water, E. fasciatus caterpillars have a propensity for swimming and are often seen wriggling their way through lakes when they need to come ashore to pupate.

Much chonk (Abbott's sphinx caterpillar, Sphecodina abbottii, almost ready to pupate)
@pesceterra submitted: No IDs need just wanted to show you the bugs I saw on vacation
Ahhhh!!! The dude in the video is a jumping bristletail actually, I see you tagged it as a firebrat. They look like silverfish and firebrats but are different. Cool find, though, I don't think I've ever had one submitted! Maybe one other over the years. Looks like you're right on the others, though! Although I will be replacing with my own specific tags :)
Look at this Guy I found in the sweet potato vine we’re not entirely sure what it is but my friends think maybe a younger crowned slug caterpillar??? I love its little tail…
googoogaga
oh wow what a fantastic name
@notenoughbugs submitted: We found these guys on my aunt’s parsley, so we decided to let them keep it. There are at least 6 or 7 in there. I think it’s a black swallowtail caterpillar? Also, I was extremely lucky to catch one of them eating, it was adorable. Sorry about the shaky camera. From Chicago, IL.
Yes, they are black swallowtails! What a nice bug blessing to have so many friends on your plants. And that’s an adorable video! Thank you for sharing, please tell them I love them :)
