the Columbia University arrests are worse than they seem. They're arresting protesting students for trespassing. It goes without saying students cannot meaningfully "trespass" in the common areas of a university they attend. So Columbia University has suspended all student protestors from their institution, in the process revoking their access to housing, their belongings, and most crucially damaging their academic futures. We are witnessing full scale silencing and removal of anyone of conscience from the next generation of academia.
THEYRE GONNA PUSH KOSA Through senate
EVERYTHING IS IN THE HOUSE’S HANDS
Please call/email/fax your house reps and tell them to say no to this bill
i hate that every rep and senator I've contacted has responded to my very well organized thoughts and critiques of this bill with a Form Letter about how Proud They Are To Support It
what is the POINT of having a GOVERNMENT if they don't even LISTEN
Far too early to point to any definitive causes for the Baltimore bridge disaster, but video evidence suggests the possibility of a power loss on the container ship moments before the collision.
Besides the possibility of mechanical and/or human failures aboard ship, another aspect of the accident we can expect to see receive serious scrutiny is the lack anti collision pylons protecting the bridge supports. These are a common feature on virtually all newer bridges over commercial shipping ways, and have been added to many older ones (they're independent structures from the bridge they guard, making them easy to retrofit without much trouble). Notably, such pylons were constructed around the Sunshine Skyway when it was rebuilt after a ship collision partially collapsed one of the duel spans. The Francis Scott Key bridge in Baltimore was opened a few years before the Sunshine Skyway disaster and in spite of undergoing safety upgrades in 1985, anti collision pylons were not added, for whatever reason.
This really is a case where an ounce of prevention would have been worth a ton of cure.
poem, “there’s laundry to do and a genocide to stop,” by vinay krishnan (x). transcription in alt text
Take a good look at the countries leading/have started the legal battles to hold the IOF accountable -their fights to end IOF terrorism and war crimes, as this should have been done months ago, are now beginning.
So many Palestinian people have been genocided, and the rampant global government inaction has caused chaos, death, and destruction of Gaza... I just hope this leads to a permanent ceasefire and an end to the occupation. I truly do.
as far as i can tell in response to the proliferation of pro-palestinian content online and the clear on the ground support for palestinians worldwide there has been a BIG push by institutions and news networks to both stigmatize support for palestine and distract from the on-going genocide in gaza.
we're going to be seeing a lot of backlash in the coming few weeks now that israel is trying to push through its genocidal plan. manufacturing consent for genocide is a dirty game. stay focused. there are children dying in their thousands and they can't hide or justify it. in a few months all of this will go away and israel and the US will start their crying tour of "shoot and cry"
there is no question of how history will look back on this moment. we already know that and so do they. they also don't care. remorse is free and they know it. public mourning and statements of regrets are likely pre-written. if the public outcry wasn't significant, they wouldn't be going to these lengths to suppress it.
stay focused, keep the pressure up. there are children being killed, hospitals being bombed, schools being destroyed, land being razed, homes being looted, parents being kidnapped, civilians being terrorized every single moment this continues. none of this is normal. none of this is right. a few weeks ago a single hospital being bombed was a worldwide shock. now every hospital is being openly and brazenly targeted. this is what they're counting on and this is what we refuse to accept.
Huh. So another W from Macklemore.
What's new(ish) in the settler-colonial state of the US is that a series of bills have been passed in the House (the Baby Senate as I like to say) and are on their way to the Senate that make it harder to voice support for Palestinians while also making sure your direct taxes aid the genocide in Gaza.
These bills affirm the US's stance on the settler-colonial Zionist Entity and the implicit ties that the government has with Israel and really — just goes to show you how Israel is just one big base for American Imperialism.
Anyways, there's still time to call your senate and tell them that you don't want these bills that only further spiral the US into fascism so even if you think it might not do much — it's important that we document our dissent in official sources. And while you're at it — call your congressperson and tell them that if they voted for this you're not voting for them next election. If they voted against the bills, still call your congresspeople and tell them you support their decision to vote against these bills.
Here are the bills:
📍Resolution: HR 6126
Resolution Name: Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act Description: Gives $14.3 Billion To Israel From The IRS (Taxes You Pay). Like straight up. Just takes it from an IRS project, which used our tax dollars to begin with, to give to Israel "defense." Link to check summary: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr6126
📍Resolution: HR 798
Resolution Name: "Condemning the support of Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorist organizations at institutions of higher education, which may lead to the creation of a hostile environment for Jewish students, faculty, and staff." Description: Will Penalize Students On American College Campuses For Supporting Palestine. This includes "Free Palestine" Protests as according to Rep Owens who introduced the bill (Click). Link to check who voted: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/118-2023/h578
📍Resolution: HR 3266
Resolution Name: "Tolerance in Palestinian Education Act" Description: They will be examining Palestinian education materials to see if it promotes "hate" or "violence" (aka are they teaching their children to become murderers??). Will inevitably require Revision Of Text Books In Palestinian Schools To Portray The Occupation In A Positive Light. Link to summary: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr3266
📍Resolution: HR 340
Resolution Name: "The Hamas International Financing Prevent Action" Description: Claims to stop financial support for "terrorist" organizations but considering that Gaza's government is run by Hamas, then this would mean Gaza will receive absolutely no aid and donating to people in Gaza could get you in legal trouble. Link to summary: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr340
There's a button for most of these bills that allows you to contact your representative directly. Please do take the time to contact them — while many of this isn't especially new to Palestinians, the difference is now that we have a larger power in numbers than we did in the past. Please make sure to advocate for you Palestinian comrades in the US whenever possible! Help us Free Palestine one step at a time!
When are they gonna whip out the stockholm syndrome or the brainwashing to explain why the hostages said thank you to the al qassam members and said publicly that they were treated well
YES AHAHAHAH LOSER
How old were you guys when you learned that Stockholm Syndrome was made up after cops bungled a hostage negotiation so badly the hostages had to step in and advocate for both themselves and the hostage-takers?
Too old. I was actually just about to reblog this again with some excerpts from an article on it.
There's also this idea that "stupid barabaric middle easterners couldn't POSSIBLY know about this fake thing like us smart, civilized westerners😏"
Like please fuck allll the way off with that.
do not stop talking about Palestine!
there are Shut It Down For Palestine actions planned for Friday, look for one in your area if you can. they're not all registered on the Shut It Down website, so check social media as well as their list.
Almost as if those "resolutions" only exist as a tool to justify imperialism
