I’ve been swamped with school for a little while and my tank overgrew. Apparently Vín and Viktoría found it quite romantic, and had a baby!! I only see one baby so far but there could be more. I hope they make it!

So i just came out to my dad abt being nb, and he said something really wise about names, i think.

He said “Gifts are not obligations. You give things to people, and you hope they like them. And your name was a gift from us to you. If it doesn’t work for you anymore, you’re not obligated to keep it.”

and i just thought maybe other people could use hearing something like that.

Lined chiton (Tonicella lineata)

The lined chiton is a species of chiton from the North Pacific. It has been recorded from intertidal and subtidal waters to a depth of 30 to 90 m. T. lineata often occurs on rocks that are encrusted by coralline algae; presumably this is what their coloration is intended to camouflage against. If knocked from its substrate, T. lineata will contract into a ball in order to protect its vulnerable ventral side, similar to many isopods. Coralline algae are also the major food item of T. lineata.

Today the Department of Awesome Camouflage is wondering if there’s any creature more impressive than the Lichen Katydid (Markia hystrix), an insect that looks like it’s actually made out of delicate lichen. It looks more like something out of a fairytale than a real-life insect, but that’s simply because the natural world is so freaking awesome!

Lichen Katydids are native to Central and South America. Wildlife photographer David Weller captured this mesmerizing footage of a Lichen Katydid somewhere in the Cartago Province of Costa Rica carefully making its way across some vegetation that looks like it might’ve grown from its own body :

There were so many guys dressed as #StarWars #Rey at #dragoncon2016 – I wish I’d managed to get pics of all of them. And they weren’t dressed in a “haha look at me, I’m a man dressed as a woman, isn’t this funny?” kind of way, but in a “I LOVE REY AND I’M DRESSED UP AS HER!” serious love & appreciation kind of way. It was awesome. (The guy on the right chased me down and was so excited to get a picture since we were both dressed as “lightsaber Rey”)

This is the first time I’ve seen color tattoos on dark skin that actually look vibrant and pigmented!!!!!

Once I was talking to a dark skinned lady who told me that she was jealous of my pasty skin because she wants color tattoos, which her artist said wasn’t possible with her skin tone. I sent her to mine, and he proceeded to go off about how dark skin accepts greens, yellows, and white beautifully, and that her previous artist just lacked the skills to use those 3 colors as highlights to make other colors pop more. If you are dark skinned and your tattoo artist says you can’t have bright colors, find a new one.

This happened to me too they said my skin was too dark for colors, then I talked to a black tattoo artist and they said that was bullshit so I’m definitely doing colors next time

I have bipolar mood disorder and I get worried that I’m too reliant on my medication especially if the dosage goes up

Then I realized

NEUROTYPICAL PEOPLE ARE JUST AS RELIANT on the neurochemicals in my medication, it’s just that their bodies produce it and mine doesn’t, it’s not that I’m a bad person and idk this realization seems to have really helped me understand and not feel so bad about it?
