Of eternal love and bonds.
There's a line that Kirk says in Star Trek III: "As surely as if it were my very own." He is speaking of Spock's soul. I have a huge love for history and this sounded very similar to something Alexander the Great had said of Hephaestion, the closest and most important person in his life. A queen mistakes Hephaestion for Alexander. Realizing her mistake she begins to apologize, but Alexander stops her and says: "You are not wrong. He too is Alexander." Hearing Kirk, at beginning as well, speaking of Spock's soul being a part of his struck a chord in me. Such a love is timeless. Indescribable. It just is and always will be. And then there is the end. Spock can't remember the crew, nor the adventures they went on, nor McCoy and the mind-meld. He remembers this line he had said to Kirk: "I have been and always shall be your friend." And Jim. He remembers his name. Of all things that are important to him, the most important is the bond he has is with Kirk. It's edged so deeply in his mind that it is the first and foremost thing precious to him. I almost broke when he said his name. He goes through everyone but stops at Kirk. He just knows, beyond all logic, that there is a link. A bond that pulls them constantly together. That they are two sole parts of one puzzle.
