English Speaking Pilgrimage at Teopoli - September 22, 2013

Since 1977, when a large wooden Cross was erected next to the water fall, Teopoli became a center for monthly pilgrimages. These pilgrimages have three strong moments of common prayer: the Holy mass, the Stations of the Cross, and the Holy Rosary with Eucharistic Benediction.Please remember that this is a day of PRAYER. All who come must participate in all the religious functions of the day.

A spiritual retreat is always a personal experience of mind, body, and soul. It is a withdrawal from ordinary activities for a specific period of time, usually in a solitary place. This time is spent in a variety of spiritual exercises, such as, prayer, penance, reflection, self-evaluation, and discernment.

A spiritual retreat is always aimed at determining one’s state of mind and soul, seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit in all that pertains to one’s spiritual growth and personal relationship with God and others.

WHO SHOULD TAKE PART IN A SPIRITUAL RETREAT? Everyone who is aware of the importance of living a virtuous life and the necessity of avoiding evil can benefit from a spiritual retreat. The retreat experience assists the individual in the building of a solid knowledge and love of one’s faith, spiritual life, and a sincere relationship with God. This kind of experience is especially desirable for those who are younger and in the process of building a good moral character and determining their vocation in life.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO TAKE PART IN A SPIRITUAL RETREAT? A Spiritual Retreat offers us as Catholics an experience enabling us to keep awake and vigilant, strong and informed as to the Truth we must follow and the virtues we must practice to fulfill the words of Jesus, “Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

To fulfill our vocation as Catholics, it is imperative that we find places and voices that can help us to regain our composure and our tranquility, our peace and our balance so as to avoid falling victim to the secularizing forces that are at work all around us. Our everyday living is filled with all kinds of stresses, different and at times contradictory ideas and values, and a reduced emphasis on Christian morals and spiritual values. We are surrounded by powerful and seductive campaigns intended to win our attention and our allegiance.

A spiritual retreat can help us to become more informed about our Catholic Faith and make us stronger in the ability to present it to those who would challenge it.

RETREATS OFFERED AT TEOPOLI 1)  Individual Private Retreats: A day or longer time retreat with minimal involvement from a Priest or spiritual guide and the possibility of celebrating the Sacraments of Penance and the Eucharist.

2)  Guided Retreat: A day or longer time retreat with a direct involvement of a Priest and the possibility of celebrating the Sacraments of Penance and the Eucharist.

3)  Adult Group Retreat: A day or longer time retreat directed by a Priest or a team of individuals with the possibility of celebrating the Sacraments of Penance and the Eucharist.

4)  School/Class/Confirmation/Youth Groups Retreat: A day or longer time retreat directed by a Priest or a team of individuals with the possibility of celebrating the Sacraments of Penance and the Eucharist.

5)  Married Couples/ Prayer Groups,/ Parish Retreats/ Widows and Widowers Groups/ Retreats: A day or longer time retreat directed by a Priest or a team of individuals with the possibility of celebrating the Sacraments of Penance and the Eucharist.

6)  Customized Retreats: Any other special group of people who wish to make a retreat can do so by calling the office of Società Unita (The United Society) and arrange a Customized Retreat with the office staff.

What is the Marathon of Peace?

Every year, Teopoli provides underprivileged youth with a chance to experience a genuine summer camping experience. The Teopoli Summer Experience (T.S.E.) provides children (6-17 years old) with the opportunity to experience activities such as swimming, canoeing, fishing, sports, and hiking, in an environment that promotes positive self-esteem, moral character, and love for family. Furthermore, the T.S.E. shapes the twelve day event around the knowledge and practice of the Roman Catholic Faith. Every year, 200 children throughout the Greater Toronto Area and neighbouring communities come to Teopoli for this truly unique camping experience. It is thanks to the organization’s outreach, such as the Marathon of Peace, that half of these children are able to afford attending T.S.E.

On Saturday September 21, 2013, experienced relay marathoners will run 20 km each for a combined distance of 160 km, raising funds for Teopoli Summer Experience. The general public (walkers) are invited to travel the last 20 km of the run. As this is also a fund-raising initiative, participants are required to donate a minimum of $100.00.
