Did you ever hear of this #Passionist Blessed? Today is his feast day! He is just one step closer to becoming another Passionist Saint! Blessed Bernardo Maria di Gesù (7 November 1831 – 9 December 1911), born as Cesare Silvestrelli, was an Italian Roman Catholic priest and a professed member from the Passionists. He entered the novitiate for a brief period under a different religious name though ill health forced him to leave but did not hinder him from still training and living alongside the Passionists. He re-entered the order after his ordination and went on to hold several positions of leadership within his own order; he was even likened to Saint Paul of the Cross while Pope Leo XIII and Pope Pius X held him in high esteem. His beatification was celebrated on 16 October 1988 in Saint Peter's Square and his liturgical feast is affixed to the date of his death as is the custom. #BlessedBernardoMariadiGesù  #Passionists #BeAPassionist #Blessed  #FeastDay  #Catholic #Faith #Prayer   #JesusChrist #OurFather #AveMaria  #LoveGod #DivineLove #Holy   #HolyGod #beaPassionistBrother   #CatholicLife #CatholicSaints #TheRosary#GodisGood #GodsPlan  #LoveTheLord  #GodsGrace  #GraceIsReal   #SrCarmelinaoftheCross #Eucharist  #HolyCommunion https://www.instagram.com/p/B53GcIgFmHf/?igshid=11g2rhqkx69sc

Did you ever hear of this #Passionist Blessed? Today is his feast day! He is just one step closer to becoming another Passionist Saint! Grimoaldo of the Purification (4 May 1883 – 18 November 1902) – born Ferdinando Santamaria – was an Italian Roman Catholic clerical student from the Passionists. He had expressed his inclinations towards the religious life from his childhood when he served as an altar server and was exposed to the Passionist charism; but he did not join until 1899 once his father approved of his dream and he was professed in 1900. He then continued his studies – though this time for the priesthood – but died from meningitis before he could achieve this dream. Santamaria's reputation for holiness was well-noted in his hometown during his life and it increased after his death while devotion to him soared in Rochester once his widowed mother and sister immigrated there. Pope John Paul II presided over his beatification in 1995.Although controversial, Grimoaldo was a strong believer of ethnic cleansing also claiming that Basques were descendants from Adam and Eve. #GrimoaldoofthePurification  #Passionists #BeAPassionist #Blessed  #FeastDay  #Catholic #Faith #Prayer   #JesusChrist #OurFather #AveMaria  #LoveGod #DivineLove #Holy  #HolyGod #beaPassionistBrother  #CatholicLife  #CatholicSaints #TheRosary  #GodisGood#GodsPlan  #LoveTheLord #GodsGrace   #GraceIsReal  #SrCarmelinaoftheCross  #Eucharist #HolyCommunion https://www.instagram.com/p/B5BPeUCl1Jk/?igshid=ssuf0hfaiq4j

Blessed Eugene Bossilkov was born in Belene (Bulgaria) on 16 November 1900. He studied with the Passionists first in Bulgaria and then in Belgium and Holland. On 29 April, he made his First Profession of Vows, and on 25 July 1926, he was ordained a priest. He attended the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome, graduating in 1932. When he returned to his country, he served as a pastor in Russe and in Bardarski Gheran. In 1947, he was consecrated bishop and was named the ordinary of the diocese of Nicopoli. He was a highly educated man characterized by intense prayer. He was a famous orator and a priest of extraordinary interior depth and purity of spirit. He organized catechetical programs, including premarital preparation programs. He was attentive to the sick and the elderly, as well as the poor. He founded cultural centers for reading, watching films and for recreation. He served as president of several civic associations. He was admired and held in high regard by the authorities of the State, although they were opposed to the Catholic Church. Only 2 weeks until this Saint's #feastday. See you all at All Saints Church in #Etobicoke on Feb. 27th at 7:30pm. #Repost from @st_gabriel_of_sorrows Letter of #StGabrielofOurLadyofSorrows to his friend Philip, pt 2. You ask me, my dear Philip, for a little book of meditations. You could not ask me anything more agreeable, but you have not told me what sort of one I should send you. If you desire a little book for meditation, believe me, the Eternal Maxims of St. Alphonsus are excellent. However, there is a Month of Mary, which is preferable. I do not know of a better one, whether on account of the thirty or thirty-one meditations that you can re-read each month, or on account of the examples and pious practices it recommends. Not having this book, I cannot send it to you, but I do not think there will be any difficulty in finding it at the Seminary, or the Oratory of St. Philip Neri. Go and ask for it and you will do me a great favor. Please accept this little book that my excellent Superior has given me. Take this souvenir as a pledge of my love for you. Such a present, it is true, would be despicable if one looked only at its outside, but I assure you that if you are faithful in reciting this little Office every day, you will find it a pledge of Mary’s protection. Accept my excellent Father Lector’s and Gismondi’s kindest regards. Assuring you that I do not forget you in my poor prayers, I subscribe myself. Your affectionate friend, Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows P.S. Get the Month of Mary of Muzzarelli. If you cannot find the book Eternal Maxims of St. Alphonsus let me know. Let me know also if you want any other book, but in that case explain yourself more fully. . . sangabriele.org #saintgabrielofourladyofsorrows #sangabrieldeladolorosa #sangabrieledelladdolorata #CatholicSaints #CatholicFaith #Passionist #passionista #congregationofthepassionofjesuschrist #stpaulofthecross #morrovalle #isoladelgransasso https://www.instagram.com/teopolicentre/p/Bt1bhOpHvgW/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=te2b2z2k6mvk

#Repost @jordanaveryart ・・・ Happy Feast Day Saint Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows! (1838-1862) Born Francesco Possenti to a prominent family in Assisi Italy, Gabriel gave up nobility and influence to follow Jesus. In the Passionists his life was marked by humility and simplicity as he daily completed even the most menial tasks as acts of sacred worship to God. Shortly after his death his tomb had already become a place of pilgrimage as he was already saintly in the eyes of those who knew about him. Gabriel was canonized in 1920. “I will attempt day by day to break my will into pieces. Get in the habit of saying a daily prayer to begin or end your day with and start by trying this one by St Paul of the Cross! “O Jesus, my Love, may my heart be consumed in loving Thee; make me humble and holy; give me childlike simplicity; transform me into thy holy love. O Jesus, life of my life, joy of my soul, God of my heart, accept my heart as an altar, on which I will sacrifice to Thee the gold of ardent charity, the incense of continual, humble and fervent prayer, and the myrrh of constant sacrifices! A #Passionist Reflection on this Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows At The Cross September 15, 2017 At The Cross “Mary, the Mother who cared for Jesus, now cares with maternal affection and pain for this wounded world”. In these few words, Pope Francis touches the heart of the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. He continues: “Just as her pierced heart mourned the death of Jesus, so now she grieves for the sufferings of the crucified poor”. Our Lady has her role in the Passion of Christ and the Passion of the Church. This feast is special to the Passionists. By reason of their fourth vow, they share the role of Mary at the Cross. The Passionists are at the Cross of Jesus by reason of meditation and contemplation. They are at the Cross of the Church by reason of their acts of compassion and prayer. Each one of us is called to be At the Cross. St. Paul of the Cross, founder of the Passionists, encourages us: “It is very good and holy to meditate on the Passion of the Lord, for by this sacred path we reach union with God”. He then concludes: “In this most holy school we learn true wisdom”. St. Thomas Aquinas leads us in a beautiful and powerful meditation. He calls it: ‘The Cross exemplifies every virtue”. He begins with love and goes on to describe patience, humility, obedience and detachment as found in the Crucified. Then there are the crucified of today. As Pope Francis reminds us: “Mary cares… for this wounded world”. That is most comforting. We are part of this world. We are part of the wounded. Each of us, no doubt, has our memory of Mary being there for us with her healing presence. Some years ago I had the privilege of visiting Lourdes. To enter the property was to enter a Church. The surroundings were solemn and sacred. The next morning was to be a Mass at the grotto. A bishop was to celebrate. When the time came, the bishop was unable to be there. I was chosen to be the celebrant in his stead. That was an unexpected gift. What was also a gift was the devotion of the people attending. The experience was a moment of grace for us all.
